The 20th century muralism in Mexico
Binková, Petra ; Opatrný, Josef (advisor) ; Štěpánek, Pavel (referee)
As I was trying to suggest in this text, the cultural value of mural production is political in the sense that it responds to interests and motives of the social world and intends to transform the space which it occupies. When doing so, such visual works orient itself toward the construction of its own public. The mural process that aspires to create mural art must therefore be multiple and combined. A similar thought has been pointed out by Bruce Campbell his book Mexican Murals in Times of Crisis: [Mural practice must be] making its commitments and negotiating compromises within the balance of social forces; attempting to fix in some manner the social context in which it takes place; hailing a more or less broad sector of the social milieu; and seeking out some meaningful figure with an eye toward symbolic consensus, or "no man's land" capable of negotiating through perspectival conflicts over the space of the work.,,161 Only by attention to the practical components of muralism does it become possible to recognize a contextual variety of mural work. In fact, these are nothing more than distinct modes of formal compromise between the production of the mural image and its public. An alternative delineation of contemporary muralism is thus at the same time a delineation of practical accomplishments...

Frühbauer, Jan ; Fárek, Martin (referee) ; Janák, Jiří (advisor)
The main intention of this work is an interpretation of a chosen mythical narration from the point of view of the theory of monomyth from american antropologist Joseph Campbell. In his well-known book The Hero of Thousand Faces he presents many myths and old legends from the whole wide world. In the way of comparison of the myths and the motives which they contain he demonstrates common spiritual grounds of the mankind. Campbelľ s approach is very familiar to the analytical psychology of C. G. Jung and he many times refers to him and his scholars. Currently he uses many of Jung' s terms, such as the idea of an archetype or Self (germ. das Selbst). Further, hismodel of monomyth of the hero carries resemblance to Jung' s image of the process ol individuation (germ. der lndividuationsprozess).

The thesis dealt with the history of the Czech female sport. It also pointed out that the first steps women made into the public life were connected with sport which started to be in vogue in the 19th century. Firstly, I presented the primary features of public life of women living in the Czech lands. It was obvious that there was a difference between social status of women in 19th century and in the present world and female sport needed to develop. The first steps led to philantrophy, where women were introduced to the public activities. Consecutively, I was concerned with founding activities under the supervision of educated and less conservative men who supported women emancipation. There could be included also beginnings of Sokol where the first steps of women towards the physical education. On the turn of the century the society was slightly changing into more liberal and started to identify with the fact of girls engaged in sports. The main focus of the thesis was the Czech university sport which was formed by women in the 20th century as well.
