Bifunctional chelators for selective copper(II) binding
Paúrová, Monika ; Kotek, Jan (advisor) ; Vojtíšek, Pavel (referee)
Title: Bifunctional chelators for selective copper(II) binding Autor: Bc. Monika Paúrová Department: Department of Inorganic Chemistry, Faculty of Science Supervisor: doc. RNDr. Jan Kotek, Ph.D. Supervisor's e-mail: modrej@natur.cuni.cz Abstract: In this Master thesis, cyclam bifunctional derivatives bearing pendant phosphinate groups (4-methyl-11-p-aminobenzyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane-1,8- bis(methylenephosphinic acid)) and phosphonate groups (4-methyl-11-p-aminobenzyl- 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane-1,8-bis(methylenephosphonic acid)), were prepared and studied as potential ligands for complexation of divalent copper. These ligands are suitable for binding to a macromolecular carrier. Keywords: radiomedicine, copper, cyclam, chelating agent, phosphinate, phosphonate, kinetic inertness, kinetic lability, thermodynamic stability

Harassment of female and male high school and university students by teachers - comparison
Fifková, Kateřina ; Pavlík, Petr (advisor) ; Linková, Marcela (referee)
The goal of my thesis is to compare the density and perception of sexual harrasment by teachers at high schools and universities. In the theoretical part of my work I present the concepts which I am basing my thesis at. I explain the evolution of the term sexual harassment and its multiple definitions. I also discuss the meaning and role of education in the society and the specifics of sexual harrasment in a relationship of a student and their teacher. Finally, I also review relevant Czech and international studies. The empirical part of my thesis is based on two studies by the Department of Gender Studies - one being concentrated on high schools, second at universities. I compare and interpret selected data. I focus primarily on the difference between the occurence of sexual harassment at both levels of education and how it is perceived. I also interpret the gender differences.

Receptor for Nicotinic Acid
Suchánková, Marie ; Fendrich, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Hronek, Miloslav (referee)
Nicotinic acid belongs to the drugs with anti-hyperlipidemia effects. It lowers levels of both cholesterol and triglycerides and increases the level of HDL. The benefit features of this vitamin are accompanied with the side effects of flushing, mainly, that have very negative influence to patient compliance. Independently, T. Soga and A. Wise have discovered the G-protein-coupled receptor GPR109A (HM74A in humans, PUMA-G in mice) as the receptor for nicotinic acid. This elucidation opened the way to elucidate the molecular identification of the mechanism of nicotinic acid-induced flushing. We have done several experiments with PUMA-G double-knockout mice which lacking the PUMA- G receptor. First of all, we have established the method for monitoring the flushing response after the administration of nicotinic acid and acipimox, its derivative with similar effect on the lipid metabolism. From our results, it implied that nicotinic acid and acipimox causes flushing response via the receptor PUMA-G. Thus we could say that PUMA-G receptors are involved in both lipid- lowering mechanism and flushing-mechanism. It has been postulated that NSAIDs can diminish the occurring flush response in the patients. Our experiments with COX-1 -/- clearly showed that COX-1 is one of the crucial enzymes in the nicotinic...

Analysis of the highest rated posts in discussions on Czech internet news websites
Šponer, Jakub ; Jirků, Jan (advisor) ; Podzimek, Jan (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to discover how a top rated post in discussions of the three Czech online news sites - idnes.cz, novinky.cz and aktualne.cz looks like. Top rated comment was analyzed in terms of five criteria - whether related to the theme of the article, whether it contains vulgarisms, whether it occurs irony or humor, whether the comment expresses disagreement with the article and whether the user in his commentary expresses his own simplified conclusions, or his own solution to the problem. For the analysis and evaluation were used elements of quantitative and qualitative research and findings have been converted into graphic form. According to the results from all three servers, the ideal comment is the one that is related to the topic, does not contain vulgarisms and humor, agrees with the article and provides simplified conclusions or easy solutions. The results say a lot about the preferences of contributors to online discussions and may assist in the further study of their behavior, they can also inspire for more detailed research of phenomena throughout the discussion thread. In the context of the growing impact of the Internet and online media, analysis of the user preferences of online media can be not only beneficial for further research, but also for the media itself.

Sources of Sorbus aria agg. variation
Bílá, Jana ; Urfus, Tomáš (advisor) ; Chumová, Zuzana (referee)
Genus Sorbus is a very complex group of vascular plants. Various genetic lineages which can be fixed by apomixis are driven by interspecific hybridisation and polyploidy. Species from S. aria agg. have the highest variation probably due to an extra mechanism - introgressive hybridisation. There are several concepts of the aggregate which are usually based on three main species: S. aria, S. umbellatta and S. graeca. Therefore, new microspecies are derived by genome doubling and hybridisation between the main species. Units of the aggregate are assessed differently as the distinction of taxa is very complicated due to the overlap of the morphological variability. The aggregate itself can be sometimes considered as a category for species of uncertain origin or identification. Four species from S. aria agg. occur in the Czech Republic. In addition, the conclusion offers questions that will be addressed in the master's thesis.

Framing of conflict in Eastern Ukraine in local media
Štěpán, Petr ; Zilynskyj, Bohdan (advisor) ; Šír, Jan (referee)
The thesis analyses framing of news in four local on-line media of Donetsk Oblast in Eastern Ukraine. Two of the analysed on-line news websites (Novosti Donbassa and Mariupolskie Novosti) are based in Ukraine-controlled part of Donetsk Oblast, the two other (DAN and Gorlovka.Today) are located in so-called Donetsk People's Republic established by pro- Russian rebels. The thesis focuses on news reporting of two major events of the Conflict in Eastern Ukraine which occurred in 2015: The battle of the city of Debaltseve and the preparations of local elections in so-called people's republics of Donetsk and Lugansk. The analysis is based on Robert N. Entman's definition of framing analysis which consists of searching for keywords, phrases and other tools which build the frame.

The local fees in the Czech Republic
Turek, Jan ; Sedmihradská, Lucie (advisor) ; Kostohryz, Jiří (referee)
My diploma thesis aims to assess the planned amendment to the law on local fees and show the changes that have to occur. The planned amendment changes slightly rights and responsibilities of the municipality in the implementation of local taxes. In my diploma thesis we deal in detail with two kinds of charges - local fee for spa or recreational stays and a local charge of accommodation capacity. Rating of planned amendment preceded by analysis of the municipalities that collect those fees. I am focusing on the revenue side of their budgets. The first two chapters are theoretical. I generally describe how the law in Czech Republic influences the structure of public administration and how it prepares the budget of the municipalities. They are characterized by certain local fees and their legislative framework. The practical part is devoted to analysis of two local taxes in 10 selected municipalities and their final share in nationwide revenue from local taxes. The final part evaluates the planned amendment, indicates and shows possible problems that could occur in the future.
