Historical view of charity and charity activities of Jewish people in Bohemia until 1914

The thesis deals with the history of charity itself and charity of Jewish people in Bohemia from their approach until 1914. The first chapter describes the approach in a longer historical context from the very beginning through the Middle Ages to the Early modern period, and the laws and regulations which influenced their lives. The second chapter defines interrelation of the Jewish religion and the provision of charity. Activities of the clubs and individuals in terms of maintaining and building synagogues together with providing charity are presented in the third chapter. It shows the main activities and approaches of individual clubs, associations and people to social problem solving. The chapter also introduces clubs that are relatively unknown and explains their activities. The fourth chapter entirely focuses on the description and activity of the club of Chevra Kadisha. It describes the origins and contents of its activity and it also deals with the dignity of the act during funerals and activities associated with it.

Evaluation of the impact of fire safety equipment for the safety of persons escaping from the building

The safety evacuation from the fire affected building is the most imported thing, which is bound to the fire safety of building. The evacuation of persons is necessary process and procedure which can safe lives and health in the most of extraordinary event caused by fire of buildings or technologies. The typical efect attend fires set in buildings, which threaten persons, property and fire - fighting fire brigades. These threaten efects are products of combustion, flame, heat and deficiency of oxygen. I present the way how to use the fire safety devices in various types of buildings in my diploma work, above all towards to safety escape persons from the fire affected building. I describe the practical positive and also negative finding during installation and mutual coordination the fire safety devices.

Political, social and cultural integration of the immigrants from India in the United States of America

This paper deals with the political, social and cultural integration of the immigrants from India in the United States of America. The last and so far the biggest wave of Asian Indian immigration to the U.S. began after 1965 with the passage of the new Immigration Act. Today, there are more than 2.5 million Asian Indian immigrants living in the U.S. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the chronology of events and history of U.S. immigration laws concerning Asian, and particularly Asian Indian, immigrants. Building on this analysis, the goal is further to show how the immigrants were being discriminated against and how they managed to integrate successfully into the mainstream American society despite many cases of refusal and acts based on prejudice. The Social Integration part analyzes possible problems in the Asian Indian immigrant family living in the U.S., their attitudes towards education, and finally their success at work. The Cultural Integration part includes the topic of multiculturalism, issues of conflict and communication, differences between the American and Indian culture, as well as religion, holidays, and traditions.

Cuban emigration to the United States of America since 1959

The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the development of Cuban emigration to the USA since 1959, when Fidel Castro assumed power in Cuba. The presumption for achievement the main aim was to achieve the partial goals including the analysis of causes of Cuban emigration, highlighting the connection between the historical development of Cuba and the emigration from the island to the United States, furthermore, the characteristic of Cuban minority living in the U.S. and possible future development of Cuban emigration. The thesis is divided into six chapters including the general definition of migration and its forms, brief history of international migration, it also focuses on the U.S. - the largest immigration country in the world. The thesis doesn't lack the main immigration flows and social economic characteristics of the US immigrants. Particular waves of Cuban immigration to the USA since 1959 are described in chapter four, which frames pivotal part of the thesis. Attention is also paid to the Cuban community living in the United States and the future development of Cuban migration.

The Giger and Davidhizar transcultural assessment model

Abstract The Giger and Davidhizar Transcultural Assessment Model. Because of the globalization we live in the world where {\clqq}the borders are getting closer`` which also means to live our lives in more multicultural society. That is why a nurse must react to modern nursing care and must be well prepared to cope with specific problems of various communities in their health and illnesses. In my diploma work we deal with transcultural evaluation of nursing care according to the J. N. Giger and R. Davidhizar Nursing Care Models. These models are about regardful and tailored care which we apply to members of Vietnamese community living in the Czech Republic. The theoretic part contains problems of the globalization, migration of foreign people, transcultural nursing, the Giger and Davidhizar nursing care models, information about Vietnam and the model application to members of Vietnamese community living in the Czech Republic. In the practical part we created standard of nursing care named Nursing of Vietnamese patient/client in health care institutions and we are interested in its using in the working practice. Then we found out opinions of people working in health care institutions who work with this standard and found out expectation of Vietnamese patients/clients hospitalized in health care institutions whose findings could help with prevention of hospitalization problems. The goals of the work: 1. Using of modification the Giger and Davidhizar nursing care models with giving care to Vietnamese people in health care institutions 2. To find out cultural changes in nursing process and their influence on behaviour of Vietnamese people in an illness 3. To identify problems and expecting of hospitalized Vietnamese people The research was conducted with the help of quasiexperiment and interview in the Regional Hospital Příbram. We addressed 10 nurses and 6 Vietnamese patients/clients. We must point out that in the year 2007 only 6 Vietnamese people were hospitalized there. The goals of the work were achieved. We hope that our work may help to increase quality and efectivity of the nursing care given to Vietnamese people.

African Americans Versus Latinos in Los Angeles; Coalition or Conflict?

Diploma thesis "African Americans versus Latinos in Los Angeles; Coalition or Conflict?" deals with the issue of inter-minority relations in the Los Angeles area. The project is divided into several parts in order to make it easier for the reader to orientate and to draw point more clearly. The first part deals with the establishment of both communities within the Los Angeles area, focusing on the most important events shaping their developments. The next part then analyzes the reasons for increasing conflicts by stressing the most important ones and by trying to apply the general theories of race relations within the United States. It basically focuses on the educational sphere, the problem of both Latinos and blacks dropping-out in large numbers and the increasing violence connected to gang activities. In the next chapter, the political scene comes into question; the 2001 and 2005 Mayoral Races are analyzed and compared in order to draw conclusions and provide possible explanations for their outcomes. Moreover, a general background for the urban political theory of minorities is provided. Analysis of trim of the department of health service of SR for solving crisis situations

The diploma thesis deals with the state of readiness of the health service of the Slovak Republic for solving crisis features connected with mass infliction of the population. The crisis features are mostly connected with risk to peopleś health and lives therefore the health intervention, which increases the demands made on support of usual health care, seems to be necessary . The health service shall be ready to solve them as soon as possible with use of all necessary force and means. The thesis analyses the level of readiness of the health service for managing emergencies connected with risk to health and lives of a larger number of people. It expertises legal surroundings of health support of crisis management, it explains the basic terminology, evaluates the level of health provision of rescue works and views the impact of reorganisation of the health service on crisis health support. It complex analyses the influence of the whole real level of the health service of the Slovak Republic on solving crisis situations. The diploma thesis proposes pursuant to the performed analyses organizational measures for the better quality of the process of solving crisis features and for increasing its effectivity.

Coordination and Work with Volunteers in the Frame of a Long Term Individual Humanitary Help Coordinated by NGO Bodaj

In the first part of this work I wanted to describe the situation in children's homes in the poorest part of Ukraine - Zakarpatie. I sumed up some information about history and about people, living in this country. I tried to find out reasons, which lead to the poorness of this region, and why people who live there, often leave to find work in another coutry. In the third part there can be found information, about voluntering and humanitarian work, about history, some well known humanitarian organizations. In the third, middle part i put the detailed describe of children's home in Vilšany. It presents which children live in this house, who works with them, how does the surroundings of the children's home look like … In the fourth, final part, I wrote about the Bodaj organization, which helps in chidren's homes in this part of Ukraine. I described changes in management this volunteers organization. In the next part I wrote about volunteers coordination in Bodaj. Which changes will be made for better efective work. This thesis contains the following basic aspects of Celtic/Galatean penetration and presence in Anatolia (central Turkey). 1. Historical background and survey; records of the ancient authors concerning the Celts and Galatians; Celtic penetration through the Balkans and Greece to Galatia; the establishment of the Galatian state; the struggle between the Hellenistic kings and the Galatians; questions of cult, society, policy and urban living and the decline of the Galatian tribes in Anatolia. 2. The archaeological evidence for a Celtic/Galatian presence in Turkey in general and in central Anatolia in particular; groups of monuments and archaeological material. 3. Reflections of the historical events in the figurative art of Antiquity; sculpture; toreutics; terracotta. 4. Evaluation and interpretation. Having left Central Europe, the Celts passed through the Balkans in the fourth and early third century BC and established here between 279 and 277 BC a Celtic state called the Tylis Kingdom. Contemporaneously they entered Greece, where they and their chieftain Brennos were infamous as the bands, endangering the sacred area of Delphi in 278 BC. Gambrinus liga: Football's sponsorship of Plzeňský Prazdroj

The main theme of this bachelor thesis is a sponsorship of Gambrinus League by Pilsner Urquell or rather by one of it's trademarks, Gambrinus. The partnership between first czech football league and Gambrinus was signed in 1997, the contract was prolonged two times and now is valid until 2014. This partnership hasn't had only the advantages for Gambrinus but has experienced some ciritical phases as well, e.g. an affair of corruption in czech football in 2004. The aim of this thesis is an analysis of this sponsorship as one of the marketing strategies of Gambrinus. Basic facts for this analysis come from theoretical concepts of sponsorship and characterization of both subjects, as well as from the communication activities of Gambrinus within above the link and below the link promotional communication. A content analysis of presentation of Gambrinus League on television screens in Czech television and Nova television in seasons 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 is a part of this thesis. The aim of this content analysis was to find out the visibility of Gambrinus promotional boards and logos during the live broadcast of football league.
