Karlheinz Stockhausen and The Beatles

The text proposes to describe the relationship between Karlheinz Stockhausen and the work of The Beatles in the late sixties regarding especially their album Sgt. Pepper s Lonely Hearts Club Band. It compares how they worked within the same technnical system and it shows changes that occured in music with the conception of studio as a musical instrument. On a more general level, one theme of the text is the difference between so called serious, or avantgarde music and popular music. Through comparing the way Stockhausen and The Beatles approached a few selected aspects of music making, it presentes them next to each other rather than against each other. Another general theme is the relationship between technical inovation and music creation.
Current Situation of czech Publishing in non-artificial Music

The goal of this thesis was to evaluate current situation of czech publishing in non-artificial music, primary in last five years. This thesis also deals with digital production, current situation in the area of piracy and ATCA and also deals with the topic called ?Loudness war?. Thesis is completed with interview with a leading czech producer, Jan. P. Muchow. Key words: publishing, digital production, piracy, ACTA, ?loudness war?
Current Trends in the Use of classical Instruments in popular Music.

In this work we focus on the relation of popular music genres and classical instruments. Using the database searching we find the lists of styles using each of the instruments of symphonic orchestra. For improvement of the understanding the relationship graphs are presented for each instrument. Resulting graphs are printed also for the whole groups of the classical instruments. For all the cases a short analysis of results is given and the styles representing some characteristic usage of the instrument are described in detail. The third chapter groups the experience of the stage performances including the overview of available instruments and technic of sound pickup and the question of incorporating the acoustic instruments to popular music performances is discussed. The last section of the main text describes an approach, which represents one of the ways of enhancing the artificial music by the musical elements characteristic for the popular genres.
The Pros and Cons of Using Pop Music in English Primary-Level Lessons

This work focuses on methods of learning English through music and lyrics of popular songs. It explains the method and describes its advantages and disadvantages. In its theoretical part, it looks at academic writings explaining and critiquing this approach. In its practical part, it includes the author's own research on the extent this method is practiced at Czech primary schools and on the teachers's attitudes to it. The author attempts to conclude whether this method can be effective and whether it should be used in teaching children English.
Popular music and gender stereotypes

The thesis deals with the issue of displaying gender stereotypes in the media, with a particular focus on television and popular music. In this work the focus is in addition to defining the concepts related to the theme of gender and media theories also analyzing the stereotypical elements appear in the music videos of current popular songs, wherein are identified and described the mechanisms of gender stereotyping. For this purpose as a method was chosen the case study. The aim is to give a preview of what is the image of women and men provided by the contemporary media to viewers, readers or listeners and point out that it is the mass media that contribute to produce, expand and strengthen these stereotypical images in a society. It is without a doubt that the media are the bearers of considerable influence in the society. This work could contribute to the awareness of the effects of media on a man and the whole society, and also to raise the awareness about gender issues generally and particularly in conjunction with media messages.
The influence of music carrier sale on life music production in the Czech Republic

The Bachelor's Thesis deals with the topical phenomenon of a rapid decrease in music carrier sale and its influence on life pop music production. The theoretical part defines the current approach to the issue of creative industry and presents life music production as one of the industry's connerstones. Further the author denominates the key branches of music production, such as music festivals, concerts in music clubs and the sale of music carriers. Consequently the author analyses the mutual interaction between the three branches. The final part consists of an attempt to predict the future development of the pop music industry at the present conditions.
Conflicts of the local rock scene with official cultural politics before 1989

This graduation thesis deals with conflicts of regional rock scene with official cultural politics before 1989. The text consists of two large sections, whereas the first one discusses a broader background of the topic and the second one focuses on the problems of rock scene in České Budějovice. Social and political situation during communist regime is reminded at the beginning of dissertation. Following part brings information about development of rock music in the world and Czechoslovakia as well. Some conflicts of rock musicians with the official cultural politics are mentioned here as well, both in nationwide and regional context. The next chapters are based on interviews with witnesses and their recollections of rock scene in České Budějovice before 1989. The last third of the text pays attention to particular problems of this scene. There are mentioned not just minor difficulties, but also bans on music groups, brutal police attack against participants of underground music concert in Rudolfov in 1974 and unfair law suit with Jiří Gans (local jazz and rock music devotee).
Culture and Kitsch

The subject of bachelor's thesis is to find appropriate definition of kitsch and determination of his role in contemporary popular music. Theoretic part summarizes definitions of kitsch and its relation to art and society, mainly focusing on the theory of kitsch by philosopher and aesthetician Tomáš Kulka. Practical part of the thesis focuses on the area of populat music. The effort of the practical part is to analyze economic success of kitsch on contemporary music industry with main focus on american ( most significant nowadays) industry.
