Development and Propertied of Historic Masonry Mortar
Lišovský, Martin ; Kulísek, Karel (referee) ; Fridrichová, Marcela (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with development and propertied of historic masonry mortar, especially lime mortars and their modifications using pozzolan. In the recipe developed in the experimental part, metakaolin is used for the modification. The technological and application properties of mortars made from these formulations are then compared with the commercial mortar SCHWENK TM 5, which is modified by the suevite trass.
From Palisades to modern czechoslovak artillery turret. The development of components fortification by Skoda factory in 19. and 20. century
Chmelenský, Jiří ; Čechurová, Jana (advisor) ; Jakubec, Ivan (referee)
The diploma work concentrates on the complete development and construction of artillery produced by Skoda factory in Plzen from the beginning of weapon production, development of artillery turrets, artillery fortress guns, naval guns to field guns. The work appropriately combines three main parts: economical development of Skoda factory, the development of fortress and field artillery material and bibliography of a lot of important persons from Skoda factory. The work was divided into two important parts: from the beginning of artillery production at Skoda factory to the end of twenties of the twentieth century and the second part started at the beginning of thirties to the end of the second World War, when there were developed a lot of modern artillery constructions for the Czechoslovak army and German Wehrmacht. This work was is based on the work with primary archive research at Factory Skoda archive at Plzen, Central military archive in Praha and on the work with secondary literature. Since its beginning Skoda factory became the largest producer of artillery material in Austrian monarchy, during the first war they developed a lot of new and progressive constructions at fortress material and at field artillery material including heavy siege artillery. During the first republic period they...
Application of vibrational spectroscopy to analysis of artwork - mortars
Křížová, Iva ; Němec, Ivan (advisor) ; Hynek, Radovan (referee)
The aim of this work was to determine the possibility of identifying the protein and lipid additives, such as blood, gelatin, curd, lard or eggs, in the model samples of lime based mortars using infrared spectroscopy. We have focused on the reflectance techniques of infrared spectroscopy, and we proved that by these methods can be determined the presence of additives, down to tenths percent by weight. Detailed resolution of lipid and protein additives can be achieved only for samples containing at least one weight percent of additive. There were not observed any spectral changes which can be correlated with performed curing and aging of prepared model samples.
Survey and assessment of masonry building castle
Kopecký, Martin ; Kocáb, Dalibor (referee) ; Cikrle, Petr (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the diagnostics of masonry structures. In the theoretical part of this thesis it is described the system of assessment of existing structures and then the assessment of existing masonry structures. The next chapter states the methods of survey of masonry structures, including evaluation. The practical part of the thesis deals with the survey of the building of a small castle. This survey includes a brief history of the castle building, the preliminary inspection of the building and the research of the supporting structure. The result of the survey is to determine the material characteristics of masonry.
Plasticizers replacing lime in cement-lime mortars
Kajsrlík, Jan ; Bayer, Patrik (referee) ; Vyšvařil, Martin (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the possibility of replacing lime in lime-cement plaster mortars. Considering commercially sold products, it explores the ways of replacing lime qualities by organic materials. Their influence on density, beam test and compression strength are researched; absorption capacity, frost resistance, capillary absorption coefficient are also assessed. Finally the organic materials are compared with the qualities of the lime-cement mortar
Effect of partial replacement of Portland cement by diatomaceous earth on selected parameters of cement mortar
Rousková, Jana ; Sedlmajer, Martin (referee) ; Rovnaníková, Pavla (advisor)
The subject of this thesis is selected parameters cement mortars with partial replacement of Portland cement diatomaceous earth. This work provides information on the basic properties of diatomaceous earth and its deposits with a focus on deposit in Borovany. From the properties is very important pozzolanic activity due to the high content of amorphous silica of this soil. The main use of diatomaceous earth is in the area filtration and is used widely as a nutritional supplement. In the building industry, diatomite can be applied as an admixture to mortar and concrete, where it can, with its abilities, improve some physical mechanical properties. In the experimental part was diatomaceous earth, in its raw and calcined form, tested as admixture for cement pastes and mortars. The main criterion for evaluating these composites was bulk density, flexural and compressive strength. It was also investigated mineralogical composition, microstructure, freeze–thaw resistance and sulfate resistance.
Survey, Diagnostics and Design of Reconstruction
Novotný, David ; Heřmánková, Věra (referee) ; Anton, Ondřej (advisor)
The subject of this thesis is the diagnostic investigation of block A in the object at Rumiště 8, Brno. The work includes theoretical knowledge of technical surveys and diagnostic methods and their evaluation to identify the essential characteristics of masonry and timber structures. In the practical part is the diagnostic investigation processed. Part of the diagnostic investigation is the determination of material characteristics of the structure. At the end of the thesis is an assessment of the structure.
Determination of masonry modulus of elasticity in the direction of bed joints
Kuchař, Martin ; Klusáček, Ladislav (referee) ; Terzijski, Ivailo (advisor)
The determination of strain properties of masonry in the direction parallel to bed joints is a fundamental pre-requisite for designing structures, where masonry is subjected to horizontal stresses (e. g. strengthening with prestressing). The diploma thesis summarized techniques of determination of masonry modulus of elasticity presented in available literature. The goal is to suggest suitable methodology of determination of masonry modulus in direction parallel to the bed joints. In the practical part of the diploma thesis is that methodology verified by experimental test and results of tests are analyzed and discussed.
Survey and Diagnostics of Building Construction
Vítková, Barbora ; Heřmánková, Věra (referee) ; Anton, Ondřej (advisor)
The subject of this diploma thesis is the diagnostic survey of the masonry walls and the connecting bridge in the East Moat of Špilberk Castle. The thesis contains theoretical information about survey and diagnostics of building construction and then evaluation of diagnostic methods used for estimation of essential characteristics of masonry structures. In the practical part the diagnostic investigation of Špilberk Castle walls is processed. That includes determination of material characteristics of the studied structure. In the conclusion there is a suggestion of how to eliminate the structural defects found during the survey.
Research in the Field of Anhydrite Binders
Břicháčková, Jana ; Smetanová, Lenka (referee) ; Gazdič, Dominik (advisor)
The presented work deals with research in the field of sulfate binders on the anhydrite base. Conceptually, it is divided into a general theory of sulfate binders and anhydrite mortar compounds, which is describing in detail the using of anhydrite mortar compounds on the poured floor screeds, and then the experimental part, where is made the mineralogical analysis of seven different gypsum resources and subsequent is monitored the effect of two sulfate exciters on the achieved technological properties and hydration process.
