Humanitarian crisis and the role of the media: case study Sri Lanka
Strolená, Lucie ; Lehmannová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Dubský, Zbyněk (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the role of the media during humanitarian crisis. Concretely, it concerns the case study of Sri Lankan conflict and the influence of so-called CNN effect. The aim of this bachelor thesis is either to confirm or dis-confirm the connection between the media and actions of the american and british governments over Sri Lanka's conflict in the beginning of year 2009. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first part is only introductory. The second part is devoted to CNN effect itself. This chapter describes the evolution of the theoretical concept of CNN effect, definition and the summary of the literature about it. The third chapter, the most extensive one, consists of the practical application of the CNN effect to Sri Lanka's conflict.

EU social policy including the comparison of the social systems in Germany and Sweden
Tůmová, Veronika ; Jeníček, Vladimír (advisor) ; Abrhám, Josef (referee)
The thesis describes the historical evolution of the EU social policy, clarifies the concept of the European social model and deals with characteristics of the basic models of the European social policy. The essential part of the thesis is devoted to the comparison of the social systems in Germany and Sweden from the point of view of the amount of taxes and social contributions, the structure of receipts and expenditure on social policy, the systems of old age pension schemes, the family policy and the unemployment benefit. The comparison shows some typical elements of the social state model that these two countries represent. The attention is also devoted to the contemporary challenges which the European social model has to face, especially the demographic development and aspects of globalization. The attitude and responses of the European Union to these challenges are also mentioned here.

Fornicata and biological pecularities of Giardia intestinalis
Rmoutilová, Eva ; Čepička, Ivan (advisor) ; Jirků, Miloslav (referee)
Fornicata is a recently established group of anaerobic protists that belongs to supergroup Excavata. Three main groups of Fornicata are Diplomonadida, Retortamonadida and Carpediemonas-like-organisms (CLOs). Most of these protists live as endobionts of various animals, several free-living representatives have been described as well. Fornicates are typical excavates, though some excavate features have been reduced in Diplomonadida. Diplomonads are unique with doubled (diplozoic) cell structure of most representatives. Several hypotheses explaining the evolution of diplozoic diplomonads were proposed, but none of them has been widely accepted. Fornicata are closely related to Parabasalia and Preaxostyla forming together clan Metamonada. Since Metamonada were considered to be primarily amitochondriate, they were classified among Archezoa. However, the kingdom Archezoa was rejected after the discovery of mitochondrial genes and reduced mitochondria in most supposedly archezoal protists. Within Fornicata, reduced mitochondria - called mitosome - was found in the parasite Giardia intestinalis. Giardia intestinalis is a well known parasite of humans and other mammals. Besides epidemiology, there are many other interesting aspects of this protist that are intensively studied, e.g. its high genetic...

Coherence transfer during relaxation in molecular aggregates
Olšina, Jan ; Mančal, Tomáš (advisor) ; Skála, Lubomír (referee)
We study the time dependence of the density operator of molecular aggregates in contact with thermal bath, to find a proper approximation for the description of a coherence transfer influence on this evolution. It is based on results of the computer program, written by the author of the work. The program uses three methods of evaluation - the solution of the convolution Quantum Master Equation, and solution of the derived Redfield equations in Markov and subsequent Secular approximations. The temperature dependence and dependence on other parameters of the model are discussed on the basis of the obtained numerical results performed on an example of a trimer. The influence of coherence transfer on time-evolution superoperator of the trimer is discussed as well. The reasons why the Markov approximation fails for a wide spectrum of parameters are given. It is concluded that it is not suitable for the description of coherence transfer effects.

The Swedish Asylum Policy
Afrámová, Martina ; Druláková, Radka (advisor) ; Zemanová, Štěpánka (referee)
Sweden is well known for its generous asylum policy. However, it has to deal with deepening social, integration and institutional problems as a consequence of an immense influx of refugees. The bachelor essay is divided into four chapters: At the beginning, the first chapter describes briefly the evolution of the migration-asylum policy until 1989 and then it describes in detail the current Swedish asylum policy. The second chapter deals with the integration policy and its importance. The third chapter analyzes the problems Sweden has to face in the area of asylum policy. The social and integration problems in Södertälje, one of the Swedish most problematic cities, are used as examples of such a challenge. The last chapter outlines the probable future development of the Swedish asylum policy.

Aggregated Indicators in Ecological Economics
Syrovátka, Miroslav ; Brůha, Jan (advisor) ; Šauer, Petr (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to analyze three aggregated indicators and put them into the context of Ecological Economics. The second chapter points out that different sustainability perspectives imply distinct sustainability policies. Ecological Economics is outlined in contrast to Environmental Economics. Following three chapters analyze selected aggregated indicators. Aggregated indicators can provide quick insight into complex problems; however, their virtue depends to a large extent on the method of aggregation. Therefore, the interpretation of aggregated indicators should always be conditioned by their specific methodology. The Ecological Footprint is called technologically skeptical indicator of sustainability, applicable rather on a global than a national scale. Even on a lower scale the Ecological Footprint can illustrate demands of a given population for renewable natural resources. A major shortcoming of the Index of Sustainable Economic Welfare is the integration of welfare and sustainability into one indicator since it does not allow for a simple interpretation of its results. High correlation between the Human Development Index and the indicators of economic activity limits the usefulness of the former. Yet, it can serve as a basis for further evolution of the concept and measurement of human...

Health service from institutional perspective
Souček, Martin ; Schneider, Ondřej (advisor) ; Bryndová, Lucie (referee)
Government healthcare expenditures have been growing in developed countries all over the world. Usually this growth is not fully compensated by increase of GDP. Therefore new financial sources have to be found in state budget every year. The aim of this report is to find an answer to the question, why problems in the healthcare system are present all over the world and what is the reason. From institutional perspective we try to find healthcare system problems, examine them and explain their origin. The cause of the problems is given by the presence of many subjects, that have different functions, various extent of power, responsibility and even different interests. In following chapters we analyze step by step the complicated structure of the relationship between healthcare subjects. We begin with the explanation of the inception and the evolution of subjects of healthcare system. We continue with the overview of the main existing means of funding healthcare system and we finish with the analysis of the relationships. The latter part relates to the Czech healthcare system rules and laws. Special attention is given to the health insurance company (VZP ČR), which plays central role in the healthcare system of Czech Republic. On the basis of the relationship between the insurer and all other subjects we show...

Many of those who study or work in the United states, return back home to build a carrier. Thanks to economical development China can provide the talented and educated workers with better life conditions and higher salery.

PHASE EVOLUTION IN Ni-48 at.% TI SHAPE MEMORY ALLOY PREPARED BY SELF-PROPAGATING HIGH-TEMPERATURE SYNTHESIS
Karlík, M. ; Haušild, P. ; Beran, Přemysl ; Novák, P. ; Čapek, J. ; Kučera, V. ; Kopeček, Jaromír
In Ni rich Ni–Ti alloys, various phases such as hexagonal Ni3Ti, cubic NiTi2 and rhombohedral Ni4Ti3 appear during heat treatment. The presence of these precipitates affects the shape memory effect and superelasticity in an important manner. In this paper we present a study of the phase evolution during annealing of the Ni–48at.%Ti shape memory alloy elaborated by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS). Morphology and crystallography of the phases were examined by means of light metallography, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), neutron and X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Besides the phases mentioned in the\nliterature, a Ni-rich phase with the composition near Ni3Ti2 stoichiometry and having a cubic symmetry was found. This phase develops from Ni4Ti3 particles during slow (furnace) cooling from the temperature of 1000 °C. Its particles have the form of thin platelets coherent with the (B2) NiTi matrix. The orientation relation is either cube-to-cube, [111]P || [115]B2 and (1-10)P || (1-10)B2 or [011]P || [011]B2 and (1-10)P || (1-41)B2.\n

Evolution of Point-To-Plane Nanosecond Discharge in Deionized Water
Šimek, Milan ; Pongrác, Branislav ; Člupek, Martin ; Babický, Václav ; Lukeš, Petr
We employed techniques of time-resolved ICCD microscopy and spectroscopy to register basic morphologic and emission fingerprints of micro-discharges produced in deionized water. Fast risetime high-voltage pulses (duration of 5 ns and amplitude of ~110 kV) applied in a point-to-plane electrode geometry produced micro-discharges either periodically or in a single-shot regime. Time resolved ICCD images evidence typical streamer-like branched filamentary morphology while emission spectra show a broad-band continuum evolving during the first few nanoseconds followed by the well-known HI/OI atomic lines (tens of ns).
