Selected aspects of market risk management
Cao, Bien Thuy ; Blahová, Naděžda (advisor)
The main objective of the bachelor thesis is to define the basic methods for measurement and a way to reduce market risk. In the beginning of work the basic types of financial risk are defined, then individual types of market risk are described in more detail. Next the methods Value at risk for measuring market risk -- the method of variation and covariance, historical simulation and Monte Carlo simulation -- are explained. To specify measurement of interest-rate risk gap analysis and duration gap analysis are analyzed. Then there is enlightened about financial derivatives, which serve as the basic tools to ensure market risk. Therewithal standardized method for calculating capital requirements for various market risks is developed. Theoretical knowledge gained by studying literature is applied in the calculation of VaR by the method of variation and covariance. And triangular decomposition principle is used to influence the value at risk.

Multiobjective portfolio analysis
Kunt, Tomáš ; Kalčevová, Jana (advisor) ; Kuncová, Martina (referee)
The objective of this thesis is to apply alternative multi-objective optimization techniques to the portfolio selection problem. Theoretical part starts with detailed analysis of the classical Markowitz model and its assumptions. Following that, introduction of multi-criterion optimization techniques available for finding non-dominated portfolios is given. One of these techniques, the genetic algorithm, is presented in great detail. Some of the basic methods useful for predicting stock prices and its risks are presented at the end of the theoretical part. Practical part presents an application of the theory to the problem of constructing efficient portfolios of 11 selected stocks traded on Prague Stock Exchange. Results achieved by different approaches are compared and interpreted.

Social aspects of agile software development methodologies
Čížek, Pavel ; Buchalcevová, Alena (advisor) ; Balada, Jakub (referee)
Traditional methodologies of software development are burdened with number of problems, especially its complexity, bureaucracy and sticking on detailed processes defined in advance. This all often mean overtiming and overpricing the project as well as other negative effects. Agile methodologies of software development pursue solving such problems. They are built on principles of team-work, communication and developers' relations and sharing their knowledge. These values are one of the most important in agile development concept. This thesis's target is to identify and describe those principles of agile software development which impact development team functioning, working motivation of developers and focus on the project goals. Reader is first shortly familiarized with general theory of working motivation, team-working and leading to achieve the target. Then particular agile development principles are analyzed and the impact on developers' motivation, whole team functioning and focusing on the project goals is described. Another target of the thesis is to identify requirements on agile software developers, to explain what the need of them lies in and how the absence of these personal characteristics would impact whole team's productivity and the development progress. The last target of this thesis is to examine agile development as a whole. A SWOT analysis is used to achieve this. It states the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities (advantages) and risks of agile development. There is a list of 11 serious mistakes that can take place in the agile development process and heighten the risk of the project fail stated at the end of the thesis.

Pallová, Alena ; Veselý, Jiří (advisor) ; Rybářová, Marie (referee) ; Hodačová, Lenka (referee)
Pallová,A. Smoking of medical staff seen as a problem. My graduation work consists of two parts. In the theoretical part I focused on the problem of smoking both active and passive. Further I studied the influence of smoking on human organism and possible health risks. There is an article on current legal norms included, reflecting economical consequences of smoking. I further focused on medical workers' legislation knowledge and financial question concerning the NRT ( nicotine replacement therapy ). In this part I set out 5 working hypotheses. For confirming or refusing them I used the questionnaire research method. The sample of respondents consisted of 129 employees of the Regional Náchod Hospital a.s. employed at the Broumov hospital. The research was carried out during the month of March 2006.

Schmied, Marten ; Štěrbová, Ludmila (advisor) ; Mevenkamp, Nils (referee)
Public healthcare provision is under increasing economic restraints making an efficient and sustainable managerial planning a necessity in the hospital sector. Business Intelligence is the extraction of business relevant knowledge in order to adjust and refine executive operations. On the free market industries have applied the according methods and software dedicated to the generation of Business Intelligence is offered by variety of companies. Data Mining, furthermore, describes the facilitation of algorithms in order to train programs to detect unseen patterns from huge amounts of data. Therefore mining techniques are suitable for adding to the business relevant knowledge, particularly as they can produce more accurate predictions. The thesis examined the status of Information Technology normally utilized in Austrian hospitals and simultaneously identified studies that apply Data Mining to a Hospital Information System to gain Business Intelligence. While the general level of Austrian Hospital Information Systems is well sophisticated, common challenges are present in a separation between clinical and administrative systems and their interfaces. For the Data Mining a majority of studies aims at medical improvements. Some applications were found to have good business relevant prospects but their feasible introduction into the practice needs additional fostering.
