Zootherapy and its using for the clients of PN Bohnice
Steklá, Daniela ; Dokoupilová, Adéla (advisor) ; Zita, Lukáš (referee)
Animotherapy is a relatively young branch using the positive impact of animals on the mental, physical and social health. We divide it according to the methods, forms, or animals that are used for the therapy (hippotherapy, canistherapy, felinotherapy, etc.). From the viewpoint of the use of animals in therapy it is important to specify methods AAA (activities) and AAT (therapy). While AAT is a targeted method indicated by the physician and must keep records of the course of the therapy, AAA is a method of natural interaction between the client and the animal and the conditions laid down by the methods of the AAT may not be met. All types of animotherapy should be performed or supervised by a qualified expert with appropriate education, whose task is to establish the aims and procedures of individual therapies taking into account the health status of the client and his current mental frame of mind. By acknowledging the psychological state of the client and his diagnosis, the therapist prevents emergence of dangerous situations both for the client and for the animal involved in therapy. This therapy is used as a supplement for therapeutic or rehabilitation methods. For example, it can help to create or deepen the relationship between the client and the therapist. It is not yet officially recognized as a therapeutic method. Sociotherapeutic farm in PN Bohnice uses for therapy especially horses (called Hipotherapy (HR), and small animals. The method HR complexly affects the mental and physical state of a person and includes all forms of treatment and rehabilitation using horses for persons with a disability or handicap. Horses on the farm are used for physiotherapy and psychotherapy, while small animals are used in the form of visiting programs by gerontopsychiatric wards. Therapists worked out on the basis of many years of experience their own methodology for these therapies, using which they achieve excellent results. The results of studies show that animotherapy has a positive effect on clients of all ages and a wide range of diseases. This is a very promising and recently much discussed subject that needs a number of other studies, to be acknowledged as a therapeutic method.

Performance Comparison of Geldings and Stallions in Horse Racing
Johánková, Dominika ; Rozinek, Jiří (advisor) ; Jiří, Jiří (referee)
The castration of a stallion is a significant intervention into his anatomy, physiology, temperament and behavior. Combination of physical and character traits of racehorses and interplays with the jockeys is necessary For excellent athletic performance and success on the race track. People hold a discussion how the castration of the stallion affect its athletic performance and success on the racetrack. In this thesis, we want to confirm that the castration of an excellent racing stallion will not affect its subsequent athletic performance and success on the race track. Therefore, the results will be compared with several groups of stallions and geldings in a steeplechase with the longest tradition in the Czech Republic - the Velká pardubická. It will also have a respect to the experience of trainers and riders on the differences of training with stallion or gelding. The results of this research may lead to new specific arguments in this unending debate. The introductory section summarizes the findings of the anatomy and physiology of the reproductive system of a stallions. These are essential for the understanding of the following section, which describes procedures for castration of a stallions, possible complications and its effect on the physiology, physique and character of the individual. Velká pardubická steeplechase is rightly regarded as the toughest horse race in continental Europe, whose history began in the 70s of the 19th century. The race course changed several times in the past, due to both World Wars and later with regard to the safety of horses and riders. Currently, the race course measures 6,900 meters and has 31 obstacles. The Velká pardubická was attended by 1,043 horses, some of whom participated in the race several times. Overall, there were 1,658 starting horses - 455 stallions, 397 mares and 806 geldings. All these horses were divided into 5 groups. The horses were evaluated based on the ranking from first to fifth place. All data were entered and subsequently analysed in the statistical program SAS Enterprise Guide 4.3. For each period were realized descriptive statistics of each sex and data set. Two-sample tests were used for comparing the athletic performance of stallions with geldings.

Organoleptic characteristics of the venison and venison products
Henrychová, Marie ; Kouřimská, Lenka (advisor) ; Daniel, Daniel (referee)
This thesis is focused on the organoleptic properties of game and farm animals meat. Some attention is dedicated to the game meat products too. Hypotesis Organoleptic properties of game meat are statistically different from meat of farm animals was evaluated. Comparison of the scientific publications concering this topic was made. Organoleptic properties are dependent on physical and chemical attributes, thus some of these important attributes are discussed in this thesis. Results of this thesis show, that there are significant differences between organoleptic properties of game and farm animals meat and the hypotesis is valid. Within chemical and physical properties of compared kinds of meat there are significant difference especially in fat content and fatty acids profile. Game species presented in this thesis have lower fat content and also more favourable fatty acids profile and especially content of unsaturated fatty acid is higher. Significant differences were also in nitrogen compounds content, amino acids composition and haem pigments content. Higher moisture content was often presented in game meat. Differences in protein content were not significant, but several differences were found in the protein composition. During sensory evaluation significant differences were found in intensity and pleasantness of flavour, tenderness and juiciness of meat. Further differences were also found in color. Specific properties of game meat are transfered also to the game meat products. But in products differences are soften by the use of other components, such as other kinds of meat or food additives.

Use of the Animal Assisted Activity and Therapy with a Dog in Handicapped Children
Vodvárková, Aneta ; Chaloupková, Helena (advisor) ; Machová, Kristýna (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis was to summarize the available knowledge of the use of the therapy with dog in handicapped children and also their influence on children´s health condition. It combines knowledge from the scientific literature, which are complemented by a practical methodology and experience gained in the Czech Republic. Great importance of the relationship between human and animal shows how animals can affect mental and physical state of the client. Many scientific studies show that the therapies with dogs are very useful, especially for children. Very important target group for therapies with animals are clients with disabilities. Studies show the positive impact and effect on these clients and the improvement is demonstrated on the mental and the physical health. There are various forms of therapies and activities with a dog that are used in the rehabilitation of disabled children. Especially positioning and programs for the development of fine motor are used and experienced. On canistherapy team composed of handler and his dog are high demands for passing the test and they must work perfectly together. It is required absolute control of the dog, his character and appropriate training. The handler must be perfectly prepared for the action, well-educated and secure his dog and his client safe during activities. Although therapies and activities with the dog are quite often practiced in the Czech Republic, it is not a medically recognized method of rehabilitation. There is no specific and useful methodology and terminology. This should be the subject for further research.

The effect of the dog-asissted activity in children disorders of psychological development during education
Schwarzová, Kristýna ; Chaloupková, Helena (advisor) ; Katerina, Katerina (referee)
The goal of the thesis was to find out if dog´s presence and the targeted work of a child with a dog helps improve children´s attention to teaching and their results. The majority of academic literature shows that dog assisted therapy constitutes a clear benefit for children. However, the research on this topic is still in its infancy and the literature is still relatively limited. The thesis deals with the interactions of a child and a dog, especially in the case of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), specific learning disorders (SPU), and autistic spectrum disorders (PAS). The general conclusion of the existing literature is that animal assisted therapy with the dog helps children with ADHD improve their fine motor skills, increases their attention, decreases aggressiveness, and helps to improve speech disorders. But it is not clear what the impact on other types of disorders is. This thesis first focuses on reviewing the existing literature and its main results that mostly confirm the positive influence of involving the dog in therapy by all observed disorders. The second part of the thesis deals with experimental verification of the hypothesis of a positive influence the dog´s presence and the targeted work of 8 children in the age of 7-9 years from a special school has on attention and behavior in the classroom. Four of the children were diagnosed with ADHD, two with SPU, and two with an autistic spectrum disorder. The experiment was carried out two times a week, and focused on observing the extent of children´s concentration on the given task, calming down, attention while solving the assignments, and reduction of negative physical contacts among observed subjects. The data collection took place during regular classes. Once in a week, the class was preceded by the animal assisted therapy with the dog, which formed the treatment group. The second session in the week was not preceded by any therapy to establish the control group for the experiment. The results verify our hypothesis by revealing the strengthening of the positive influence of teaching on the observed skills of the children. The positive influence of the dog is supported by the fact that the children achieved more success in its presence. However, further research on larger samples and children from other age categories is needed.

Welfare of cattle
Tajzichová, Nikola ; Chaloupková, Helena (advisor) ; Ilona, Ilona (referee)
The thesis Welfare of cattle is focused on well-being of the dairy cattle, specifically from the professional expert perspective, representing these days one of the very actual quality of cattle breeding factor. The objective of the thesis was to summarise the newest expert findings in the area of dairy cattle welfare and to find out Czech Republic breeders opinion on the dairy cattle welfare assessment and on the suitability of criteria for such assessment. Cattle breeding represents one of the main sectors of the animal production, which serves as the primary source of milk, cheese and meat products. The quality of these products is directly dependant on the well-being of the cattle, which is at the same time essentially important for its complex good health condition, both physical and mental. In my thesis, I have focused on the animal welfare as such, and I analyse it in detail from different perspectives. The thesis also addresses the important evaluation project Welfare Quality, whose methodology could become a foundation for standardization of cattle well-being assessment and its certification by means of passporting products quality and origin. Further, the thesis elaborates on the alternatives of such products welfare passportisation, which could also provide for authentication of products quality and welfare of animals in the studs. I have used questionnaires for the empirical research, by means of which the dairy cattle breeders were interviewed. The questionnaires were composed of questions pertaining to basic information on concrete breeder and the stud, health condition of the animals, opinion of the breeder on animal welfare and suitable criteria for dairy cattle welfare assessment, and also questions addressing management and production characteristics of the stud. The thesis confirms the necessity of improvement of the awareness and knowledgeability of the breeders about the animals welfare, but also the need of animals life conditions improvement, and consequently the benefits of the introduction of welfare standardization and evaluation by means of all interested parties participation, and possibly also introduction of some form of certification of the quality and origin of the product, with respect to welfare.
