Estimating the elasticities of labour supply for SMEs in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Šabić, Ada ; Strielkowski, Wadim (advisor) ; Želinský, Tomáš (referee)
This Master thesis aims at testing the intertemporal substitution hypothesis (ISH) for small and medium enterprises in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We predicted a positive relationship between the hours worked and the transitory changes in wages, and tested the hypothesis using the data collected via surveys of small entrepreneurs in North-Western Bosnia and Herzegovina; collecting data on daily income and the hours worked. The estimated wage elasticities are positive and different from zero, according to which it appears that the hypothesis of negative wage elasticities has no empirical evidence in the case of Bosnian and Herzegovinian entrepreneurs. This result implies that the intertemporal labour substitution hypothesis found supportive evidence and that we can reject the daily targeting hypothesis. We also argue that entrepreneurs tend to pursue profits across working days because their main motive for running a business is the accumulation of capital and wealth, so that they follow the pattern of intertemporal labour substitution. The findings can be explained by an unfavourable business climate in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is a result of a long-lasting transition process the country is still undergoing. Keywords: labour supply, elasticity, intertemporal substitution, daily targeting, SMEs,...
Daily targeting versus intertemporal substitution - estimating elasticities of labour supply on the example of small and medium enterprises (SME) in the Czech Republic
Hrdý, Rostislav ; Strielkowski, Wadim (advisor) ; Rečka, Lukáš (referee)
This bachelor thesis explores labour supply on the example of small and medium enterprises in the Czech Republic. It contrasts two basic hypoteses - the hypothesis of daily targeting and the intertemporal substitution hypothesis. The hypothesis of daily targeting is based on determination of income which workers try to achieve. On the other hand, the intertemporal substitution hypotesis assumes that hours worked depend on wage rate. I have used the survey to obtain monthly data of work hours and earned wage by Czech entrepreneurs. Based on the obtained data I have tested two hypotheses. Wage elasticities have positive values which lead to rejection the hypothesis of daily targeting. I have offered several possible explanations of obtained conclusions. One of them is the focus of entrepreneurs on accumulation of capital and wealth as the main motivation for business. This is related to recent economic transition in the Czech Republic.
EU Innovation Policy in the Czech Republic
Bartůšek, Pavel ; Urban, Luděk (advisor) ; Hubáček, Filip (referee)
The European Union (EU) puts more emphasis on innovation as a key means for regaining and maintaining competitiveness, a trait it lags behind in when compared to its main global competitors. It therefore possesses a range of tools designed to support innovative activities of firms and to improve the overall environment of innovation in the European Union and Member States. This thesis outlines/describes the major milestones in the development of innovation policies in the Czech Republic and the EU and focuses on supporting innovation in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the Czech Republic via measures derived from the EU's financial tools. Special emphasis is applied to the Operational Programme Entrepreneurship and Innovation (OPIE) that in the Czech Republic is the main tool used to support innovation in firms. The main problem areas that may pose barriers to active impact for this support are identified on the basis of programme documents, assessment reports, statistical data on the programmes and qualitative information yielded from interviews with firm representatives experienced in this type of support. With regard to the findings of this assessment, the thesis attempts to frame suggestions that can eliminate the identified shortcomings and recommendations that can form the position of...
Analýza výstupních parametrů motoru při provozu na naftu a biopaliva
Břicháček, Miloš
Diploma thesis: Analysis of the output parameters of the engine when running on biofu-el and diesel is based on the thesis: The issue of the use of biofuels in internal combus-tion engines. Alternative fuels are still in development and maintain about them much discussion, depending on the output parameters of the engine in terms of performance parameters and the effects of emission components of the exhaust gas for environmental protection. The content of the thesis is to develop research on the current state of the use of liquid biofuels. In the experimental part were analyzed variations in the measured parameters of a diesel engine at rated speed- characteristic in its entirety, emission char-acteristics and maximum measured motor parameters when running on fossil fuels and biofuels. Monitoring output parameters are power (Pe), torque (Mt) and specific fuel consumption (mp,e). Other monitored parameters emission components: hydrocarbons (HC), carbon dioxide (CO) and carbon monoxide (CO2).
Hydrodynamic mixing of water-ask mixture in vessel
Holub, Přemysl ; Franc, Zdeněk (referee) ; Habán, Vladimír (advisor)
Master´s thesis Hydrodynamic mixing of water-ash mixture in vessel is interested in describing fluid and solid particles flow in a vessel. The mixing was conducted in cylindrical vessel by a radial nozzle. The goal of the thesis is to describe flow field and places where the most of the particles are descending according to position, depth, flow rate and nozzle orientation in the vessel. An experiment was conducted in order to investigate and document 8 different positions and orientation of the nozzle. Significant changes in flow fields and mixing time were observed. A mathematical model of the vessel with the nozzle was created in Fluent program. Places with the lowest velocities according to the model were in good agreement with places where the most of the solid particles were descending.

Support of Human Resources Development in the Czech SMEs from the Structural Funds
Bumbálková, Veronika ; Krištof, Martin (referee) ; Hanušová, Helena (advisor)
The aim of this work provides an analysis of the possibilities of utilization of Structural funds for the development of Czech SMEs with the focus on the support of human resources development. The theoretical part is focused on the structure of funds in the programme therm 2004 – 2006 and project cycle. The practical part is made as the case study for the Programme Human Resources Development in Vašstav company.
Engine Motormanagement Software
Huška, Lukáš ; Kuchyňková, Hana (referee) ; Hájek, Vítězslav (advisor)
This master thesis deals with ignition systems which are used in cars vehicles with gas engines and also with setting of the best moment of ignition of gasoline-air mixture in cylinders of engine. Ways of gas injection at diesel engines and their control systems are also described in this thesis. Next chapter deals with control unit and describes main actions which are necessary for today’s motor vehicles. As illustration is used example of succession of actions which are necessary for calculation and setting regular value of pre-ignition. At the end is shown animation, which can be used for practice lessons in a subject Automobile Electric and Electronic Systems as a example. It will simplify understanding of described activities which are all accomplished by central control unit. For purposes of laboratory lessons is in this thesis also discussed measuring of engine performance with changes of parameter of central control unit.
