Evaluation of wheelchair adjustments and their impact on proper propulsion pattern upper extremities and sitting posture in patients with spinal cord lesions
Dáňová, Petra ; Pfeiffer, Jan (advisor) ; Neuwirthová, Svatava (referee)
Title: Evaluation of wheelchair adjustments and their impact on proper propulsion pattern upper extremities and sitting posture in patients with spinal cord lesions. Objectives: The objective of this work was to evaluate the adjustments of wheelchair and to determine their impact on the work of the upper limbs and posture while sitting. This work was done on a group of patients with spinal lesions with their own wheelchairs. Another objective was to assess how education of proper propulsion pattern and form and type of a grip of handrim affects the correct propulsion pattern. Methods: In the group of 26 patients with spinal cord injuries in different levels of the spinal cord, I tested the adjusments of wheelchair, in particular the centre of gravity and maximum seat height from the ground. I also investigated what education on correct propulsion pattern the patients received, and observed any home-made adjustments to handrim, as well as patients' techniques of handrim grip. Finally, I examined how the subjects drove his/her wheelchair. During all the tests, I recorded video and photo documentation. The results were statistically evaluated using the Fisher test. Results: Despite the fact that only a small group was investigated, I showed the effect of wheelchair seatings on the correct posture. I...

Traumatic injury of peripheral nerves represents an important area of present-day clinical and experimental interest. Despite a large quantity of experimental data acquired in an intense research of this topic carried out in recent years, traumatic affection of peripheral nerves continues to be a complex surgical problem. Injury of peripheral nerves often results in a permanent and serious impairment in the patients' lives connected with the loss of the affected peripheral nerve function. If an injured nerve is given a timely and correct treatment, these consequences can be prevented to a certain extent. In the current practice this implies the use of all available methods of peripheral nerves surgery, primarily microsurgical operation technique while observing some of the basic principles essential for a good functional reinervation. This mainly applies to tension-free suture. In some anatomic locations and despite observing the above-mentioned facts, it is still difficult to reach good functional results. This primarily applies to brachial plexus injury which is one of the most complicated and serious of all lesions of peripheral nerves. Out of the total number of nerve injuries they are represented in large sets by three to seven percent. In his set, Midha reports 1.2% of patients affected by the...

French defence policy after the Cold War. The Changing role of the army
Rubešková, Martina ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Pachta, Lukáš (referee)
The present thesis deals with the changing status position of the army in the French defence policy according to the expanded security concept of the Copenhagen school. The concept of security in France has changed after the end of the Cold War, the consequent disappearance of the threat represented by the clash of the East and West and with the expansion of the threat sector and referent objects. It was necessary that the role of the state and its army has to change based on the newly defined threats. Throughout French history its army occupied an important position as it ensured France its independence and grandeur. However, events associated with the end of the Cold War have resulted in changes in the French defence policy. There is an expansion in the tasks that the military must assume to protect its state. On the basis of three factors (France's approach to the international system, the protection of the individual and the receding role of the army) the present thesis analyzes the changing role of the army in the defence of France.

Iva Prochazkova: literatury work by methods of drama education
Vágnerová, Ivana ; Marušák, Radek (advisor) ; Ferklová, Alžběta (referee)
The Abstract My dissertation is dedicated to a characteristic of pupils of primary school age from the point of developmental psychology and mutual relation of this age group and the reading in its teoretical part. The importan part of dissertation are the chapters which are aimed to well- marked personality of our literature Mrs. Iva Procházková. There is an analysis of Prochazkova's creation in my dissertation too. There is a more detailed characteristic of three chosen tituls - Pět minut před večeří, Středa nám chutná, Únos domů in teoretical part. And this part looks into mutual relation between dramatic education and literature. The target of my research is to prove the suitability of chosen chapters for the work in dramatic education. There are analysis of these literature patterns from education's view in the practical part. These titules are made as the projects of teaching lessons.

Searching for similar secondary structures in RNA
Vojtek, Daniel ; Hoffmann, Petr (referee) ; Mráz, František (advisor)
In contrast to DNA, the RNA strings fold into complicated secondary structures, which are highly important for their function. Main goal of this work was to create an application, which allows designing a detailed pattern of RNA secondary structure and then finding similar ones in the given set of RNA. The application has also direct access to GenBank database, from which it can download RNA sequences according to the user-defined query. Sequences without secondary structure are folded using a function from Vienna RNA Package. A part of the application is a graphic user interface, which provides comfortable way to design a pattern and allows the browsing found similar secondary structures. The work also presents basic principles of searching of similar RNA secondary structures and its usage in building phylogenetic trees. Description of all used algorithms is present too.

Vertical distribution of the freshwater jellyfish under natural and laboratory conditions
Hutňan, Martin ; Petrusek, Adam (advisor) ; Seďa, Jaromír (referee)
Vertical distribution of freshwater jellyfish Craspedacusta sowerbii was observed in an experimental set-up (two thermally stratified transparent perspex columns of 78 l volume) in two seasons. Light intensity and temperature gradients were established in order to uncover influence of these factors on vertical distribution of the medusae; unlike situation in the field, these were not accompanied with hypoxic conditions in the deeper layers. Medusae accumulated at depths that corresponded to the temperature of acclimation tank. Diel vertical migrations (DVM) of male medusae were observed in a thermally stratified water body. Crustaceoplankton (main food source of Craspedacusta) also showed differences in spatial distribution during day and night. Vertical distribution of medusae was limited by the bottom border of the epilimnion. The observations lead me to the following conclusions: 1) Behavior of Craspedacusta sowerbii under laboratory conditions supported the hypothesis that change in light intensity is the primary proximate cue controlling DVM. 2) A factor playing critical role in jellyfish vertical distribution is temperature. At both laboratory and field observations, medusae aligned with the bottom border of the epilimnion; this was consistent under different oxygen stratification patterns. 3) DVM...

Qualitative research of dreams by children
VORLOVÁ, Štěpánka
In this bachelor work which topic is Qualitative dream research amongst children of preschool age I first deal with the definition of the dream itself, with the dreaming phases, then with the important theories of dreaming (Sigmund Freud, Carl Gustav Jung, Frederick Perls), then the Freud´s psychosexual theory, Erikson´s theory, Piaget´s theory, then the role of fairy tales theory by von Franz M. L, and the play theory by Giddens A) In this work I research what are preschool children´s dreams made of. That´s why I used a grounded theory for this qualitative research. I used haf-structured depth interview, which I then analysed using the grounded theory and I was looking for key structures, patterns, dream types and connections. I used an audiovisual technique to record the interviews with children.

Using XML technologies to apply design patterns
Hála, Vojtěch ; Zavoral, Filip (referee) ; Bednárek, David (advisor)
Although contemporary programming style involves massive use of design patterns, programming languages does not offer suitable means tu support their application. Aim of this work is to show in practice that modern XML technologies, namely XSL Transformations, allow developers to avoid some routine tasks required by the objective language itself. This reduces the probability of errors, allows developers to focus on the key parts of the design, and makes maintaining the code markedly easier. These benefits come to light especially in large projects with hundreds to thousands of classes with complicated relations. In this Thesis we demonstrate these ideas on an example of a C++ compiler project.

A Description of the Town of Tachov and its Use in the Civics Classroom
