Grey literature: from hidden to visible
Pejšová, Petra
Grey literature is information produced on all levels of government, academics, business and industry in electronic and print formats not controlled by commercial publishing i.e. where publishing is not the primary activity of the producing body. (Luxembourg, 1997 - Expanded in New York, 2004, on WWW: http://www.greynet.org/index.html) The role of grey literature in today society was well expressed by Vaska: “It is therefore remarkable how efforts over the past two decades have altered originally preconceived notions of grey literature, resulting in a deeper understanding of how the formation, retrieval, and use of non-traditional material becomes a fundamental companion in one’s research endeavors. The advent and use of new technologies, a prevalent trend in 21st century society, has created increasing awareness of the need to incorporate the grey alongside the white, a boundary that is becoming less distinct and which may become translucent in the not-too-distant future.” (Vaska, 2010) Centralized collecting grey literature started more than thirty years ago. During period 1980 - 2005 non-profit network EAGLE (European Association for Grey Literature Exploitation) created for the acquisition, identification and dissemination of grey literature SIGLE (System for Information on Grey Literature in Europe) database. Nowadays the GreyNet International is a leading organization in dialog, research, and communication between persons and organizations in the field of grey literature. Central access to grey literature is provided by OpenGrey database. OpenGrey is a unique repository providing open access to European grey literature references. OpenGrey is based on the OpenSIGLE/SIGLE database which contains almost 700 thousand records of grey literature. As a multidisciplinary database it covers Science, Technology, Biomedical Science, Economics, Social Science and Humanities. National Repository of Grey Literature will be introduced during the workshop as an example of grey literature on national level.

Analysis of the German-Czech relations since the Czech-German declaration
Burešová, Naďa ; Dubský, Zbyněk (advisor) ; Šauer, Jaroslav (referee)
The Czechs and Germans have been neighbours in the Central Europe since centuries. Due to the course of history, some discrepancies might be still present in the mutual Czech-German relations. To solve these historical issues, a "Czech-German declaration" was signed in 1997. The main task of this thesis is to analyse the Czech-German relations after the signature of the declaration. The German point of view is stressed while dealing with the topic. The first chapter explains the development of the Czech-German relations since founding of the Czechoslovakia in 1918 until the signature of the Czech-German declaration. The second chapter deals with the declaration itself. The third chapter refers to the detailed analysis of the Czech-German relations on both -- the bilateral and multilateral levels. On bilateral level, the political, business, cultural relations and other forms of mutual cooperation are being discussed. The cooperation between Czech Republic and Germany in the international organisations, specifically the European Union and NATO, is the main subject of the multilateral dimension of the Czech-German relations that this paper deals with.

The contexts of the "aesthetic mentality" of the early avant-garde
Beracková, Dáša ; Vojvodík, Josef (advisor) ; Papoušek, Vladimír (referee) ; Zajac, Peter (referee)
The doctoral thesis The Contexts of the 'Aesthetic Mentality' of the Early Avant-garde takes a close look at the philosophical and aesthetic concepts that formed a paradigmatic change in the art and literature discourse at the beginning of the 20th Century, identified with the birth of the avant-garde aesthetic. With an analysis of the unclear term of Expressionism, traditionally used to describe the character of Czech early avant-garde literature, the thesis refers to contemporary research about the relationship between the avant-gardists and philosophical reflections on the search for an essence of reality. This critique on the fin de sicle spirit at the turn of the century formed a new kind of art and literature discourse where aesthetic strategies were often identified with a philosophical method. In this context an affinity can be seen between Josef Čapek's concept of modernity and the theory of artistic creativity by Wilhelm Worringer, and Karel Čapek's critique on Bergson's concept of life and his liking for Georg Simmels' philosophy of "perspective relativism". The subsequent step to an acceptance of the avant-garde concept is represented by the motif of the "intelligent eye" in J. Čapek's short prose works for the Almanach na rok 1914 (Almanac for 1914). These texts relate to a key topic of the...

Development and utilization of hash functions for information processing
Zimmermannová, Jana ; Ivánek, Jiří (advisor) ; Souček, Martin (referee)
At the end of 70th of last century the concept began to emerge, now is referred as a cryptographic hash function. Currently, these functions are associated especially with a digital signature. In 2005, the worldwide most used function SHA-1 was broken. This fact led in 2007 NIST announced a public competition to create a new secure hash algorithm. This Thesis deals with issues of cryptographic hash functions from the beginning of their theoretical formulation to current events in this area. Key words: Cryptographic hash functions, SHA-1, MD5, NIST competition

Theatricality of early dance: French renaissance
Bryan, Mikuláš ; Christov, Petr (referee) ; Stehlíková, Eva (advisor)
This thesis, Theatricality if earfy dance: French Renaissance, concentrates on providing a commented translation of the crucial dance manual of the 16th century: Orchesographie by French canon Thoinot Arbeau. Since it is the ftrst full translation of a period dance manual to the Czech language ever, its task is mainly to set the stage for wider awareness of early dancing, both on academic grounds and amongst the general public. Due to the extent of the original work, the introductory study is mostly concerned with the problems of translation, footnotes throughout the work fill in mainly the essential life and institutions and provide a discussion on handling the objectionable and questionable passages. Orchesographie itself purveys critical information on social ballroom behaviour and on the interaction of musicians and dancers, covering a full spectrum of late Renaissance dance; therefore it makes an excellent starting point for further examination of various other topics: the influence court masks and their theatricality had on social dancing and vice versa, overall culture of movement giving birth to the tradition of French court ballet and musical theatre and last but not least the dance references in period dramatic works, for example of The Elizabethan Era or The Spanish Golden Age. Czech scholars...

'Pindarus Christianus?': the hymnic production of Prudentius
Pacherová, Laura ; Bažil, Martin (advisor) ; Kuťáková, Eva (referee)
In this thesis I focused on the comparison of Prudentius to Pindaros, which has been mentioned in literature since the 16th century. I based my theory of a 'Pindaric Hymn' on several comparisons, specifically on expressive features of Pindars' poetic language, which I've found in the work of Prudentius. I've also found a possible intermediary, Horatius, whose work also includes several features of 'Pindaric Hymn', moreover there were specific references to Pindar and his poems and on the other hand, I've found evident traces of Horace in Prudentius. I came to conclusion, that despite of all similarities, Prudentius didn't know Pindars' work directly.
