Russian position in the international trade and its influence on real economy
Abdullin, Denis ; Štěrbová, Ludmila (advisor) ; Bolotov, Ilya (referee)
International trade and competitiveness of domestic producers on the international market are very important factors for a further economic development. Country's trade structure determines its resistance to external shocks, which threaten domestic economy. Diversification gains a lot in importance lately. The existence of more industries, which are able to withstand tough competition with foreign firms is a cornerstone of economic development. Diversification is a key determinant for Russian economy due to a greater dependency on the export of raw materials, especially crude oil. These macroeconomic links can be shown by different econometric tools. Problems with excessive dependency on oil export can be detected by means of empiric analysis.

The Master's thesis deals with management of the foreign exchange risk in international trade. Initially the essential theoretical framework is introduced and then applied on the real situation of a Czech internationally trading company. The first chapter explains individual types of foreign exchange exposure, principal foreign exchange forecasting methods and foreign exchange risk evaluation methods. The second chapter deals with internal techniques of lowering foreign exchange exposure and external hedging tools. In the third chapter the improvement recommendations are stated based on an analysis of company's foreign currency denominated cash flow, subsequent evaluation of its foreign exchange position and assessment of its current approach to foreign exchange risk.

Management balastní vody – aktuální vývoj a ekonomický vliv přijímaných opatření na trh námořní přepravy
Pavlíčková, Veronika ; Kolář, Petr (advisor) ; Rožek, Petr (referee)
This master thesis deals with the very current topic of ballast water management, a very specific field in the maritime shipping industry. The aim of the thesis is to introduce the subject clearly and to sum up the main issues which restrain a smooth implementation of new regulations that emerged from a recently adopted international treaty. This treaty, the so-called Ballast Water Management Convention, will possibly have immediate impact on the seafreight market rates and thus on the entire international trade. So purpose of this thesis is to estimate what the result might be like.

The archeobotanical research of the Early Modern waterlogged cesspit in Prague-Celetná street and possibilities of photography documentation
IRMIŠOVÁ, Jitka
Based on the macroremains analysis from Early Modern waste filling of the well in Prague Celetná street, dietary habits of Prague dwellers and the character of the city environment from the second quarter of the 18th century to the early 20th century were constructed. In total 44 015 macroremains were found, of which only 2 707 diasporas were wild-growing species. Strong predominance of crop confirmed hypothesis of well-into-cesspit transformation at the end of the 18th century. The species such as Nicotiana rustica, Piper nigrum and Ocimum basilicum, not commonly occurring in the archeological objects were recorded. The changes of the diaspora external structure influenced by their long-term deposition under anaerobic conditions were examined by electron microscopy method. A difference in subtle damage to the distinct diaspora structure along with the rate of diaspora organic pollution was noted.

Fare-Free Public Transport policy introduction in selected European states and municipalities in first two decades of 21st century
Čarek, Sebastián ; Kolman, Ondřej (advisor) ; Chmelová, Pavla (referee)
This thesis was written to create a missing complex study about Fare-Free Public Transport (FFPT) policy and to confirm hypothesis that abolition of fares are not generally accompanied by passengers increasing demand. Theoretical part describes public transport potential substitutes, for example competition in problematic individual car transport. In other chapters thesis summarises present known knowledges of public transport demand, financing by public service contracts and encapsulates experiences with Fare-Free Public Transport in Europe. Practical part includes four case studies: Tallinn, Frýdek-Místek, railway passenger transport in Slovakia and Prague Integrated Transport (PID). Analysis of PID and Tallinn confirmed that fare decrease in case of low fares already before act, does not entice additional passengers, because the demand is highly inelastic. But the important issue is that introducing of FFPT is connected with lots of side effects. Extraordinary space in thesis has policy of Free Trains in Slovakia, that caused many side effects that must have been solved in process to not damage paying passengers. Policy had important effect on public transport market in Slovakia, when ZSSK was pressed to depreciate own InterCity trains operated for own commercial risk and negative effect was also observed on private long-distance bus transport and on budgets of higher-level territorial administrative units.

Magnetooptical properties of semiconductor quantum structures
Uxa, Štěpán ; Grill, Roman (advisor)
Title: Magnetooptical Properties of Semiconductor Quantum Structures Author: Štěpán Uxa Department: Institute of Physics of Charles University Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Roman Grill, PhD Supervisor's e-mail address: grill@karlov.mff.cuni.cz Abstract: In this theoretical work, a detailed study of optical properties of excitons in double quantum wells subject to magnetic and electric fields is presented. Starting from the well-known Luttinger formulae describing the real valence-band structure of III-V semi- conductor compounds, we developed an efficient way to solve the Schrödinger equation of a coulombically-bound pair electron-hole forming an exciton. Derived formulae were illus- trated on relevant figures, giving us an opportunity to better understand the effects of external fields on the studied system. Dispersion relations, the shift of energy levels in an electric field, absorption and photoluminescence spectra, and charge density distribution were calculated and achieved results were discussed in detail. Keywords: exciton, double quantum well, coupled quantum wells, Luttinger (-Kohn) hamiltonian, valence-subband mixing
