Pre-medical first aid for children suffering from intoxication
ROUSKOVÁ, Žaneta
The issue of this bachelor's thesis is pre-medical first aid for children with intoxication. The aim of this bachelor's thesis was to chart the level of knowledge among ambulance employees in the South Bohemia and Vysočina regions of the pre-medical first aid for intoxicated children and to detect the way these health employees are educated in problems of peadiatrics outside the frame of the credit system. The theoretical part describes the obligation of education for first responders and their competence in connection with first aid. At the same time I describe the separation ofchildren's ages and the physiology of individual age groups , basic first aid, extended first aid, technical and personal. Later chapters contein the frequency of intoxication of children, it's symptoms, treatment and specifics. The research part was made by a guantitative method. The anonymous questionnaires were given out to paramedics and nurses in the South Bohemia region and Vysočina region. At the start of the bachelors thesis two hypothesis were determinated. The first hypothesis says that ambulance workers in the South Bohemia region have the same knowledge of pre-medical first aid for children with intoxication as ambulance workers in the Vysočina region. The second hypothesis claims: Ambulance workers in the South Bohemia region and in the Vysočina region have no education in the field of paediatrics outside the frame of the credit system. The first hypothesis was refuted. Knowledge of the respondents was evaluated in the field of intoxication in pediatrics by the test questions. Success of the respondents from South Bohemia region corresponds in 87 % and success in Vysočina region corresponds in 85 % in the test questions. Second hypothesis was confirmed. The 20 % of respondents argue that they are educated over the framework of the credit system in pediatrics and 80 % of respondents answered that they don't educate themselves. Bachelor thesis could contribute for students in medical specialization and also for health professionals, especially to complete the information about child intoxication field. Recommendation for personnel of emergency medical services for future graduates of medical disciplines is lifelong learning, enhance and complement their knowledge.

Pejčochová, Lenka ; Burda, Tomáš (referee) ; Fialová, Dana (advisor)
Sports Recreation in the Czech Republic (case study Praha) Main target of the following dissertation is to zoom into the problem of sports- recreational centers and sports recreation in the Czech Republic. Another aim is an attempt to map and characterize contemporary state of sports recreation potential in individual regions. In the first part, the dissertation focuses on historical evolution of tourist trade and recreation. Further on, based on erudite literature used, defines basic notions from the sports tourist trade area. Second part is dedicated to individual possibilities of sports-recreational activities in the Czech Republic and to the interest of Czech residents in spending their free time by engaging in sports. The interest is supported by results of field research (Czech variant of international research ISSP 2007 and own survey research). In the end of the dissertation an increasing interest of Czech residents in sports recreation is confirmed and also an effort of conductors and owners of the facilities (SRC) to enrich and improve the quality of the offered services is validated. This dissertation shows also some new facts and offers an insight into many more topics that deserve further studies in the future.

The Approach of Medical Rescue Service to Treatment of Clients from Different Cultures
TREŠLOVÁ, Zuzana
At the present time a varied ethnic population lives in the Czech Republic and foreigners are found in all medical institutions, from general practitioners to hospitals. This bachelor thesis briefly resumes the theory of multicultural nursing and the special characteristics of treating selected groups of foreigners. The aim of the thesis is both to map out the frequency of departures of the Medical Rescue Service of South Bohemia to patients/clients from different cultures, and to find out how the paramedics from the Medical Rescue Service of South Bohemia approach these patients/clients. The theoretical part contains characterization of rescue service, describes the profession of the paramedic and their competence. In the following part the thesis deals with multicultural health care. At first multicultural health care is described and the terms connected with this subject are explained. Then multicultural communication and its forms are discussed, the special characteristics of health care for foreign patients (in this particular case Romany, Vietnamese and Ukrainian inhabitants) are analysed. Finally the system of health care for foreign patients and the state of health of migrants in the Czech Republic are briefly mentioned. Part two, which is practical, is devoted to research, which used the quantitative method in the form of questionnaires. The findings suggest that the paramedics from the Medical Rescue Service of South Bohemia are well informed about the basic differences in distinct cultures, which means that the first hypothesis was confirmed. According to research paramedics are able to communicate adequately in English or German but at the same time they say that the language barrier is a frequent problem when treating a foreign client. However, this claim never exceded fifty per cent of the results, therefore I can neither confirm nor refute this hypothesis. Paramedics working for the medical rescue service do not need to know multicultural health care in depth. It is important to know at least one world language and, if possible, to have a car equipped with communication cards.

Essays on Stock Market Integration and on the Curse of Natural Resources
Černý, Alexandr ; Filer, Randall (advisor) ; Gylfason, Thorvaldur (referee) ; Podpiera, Richard (referee)
The thesis contains three essays, each of which calls into question generally accepted empirical results through the use of more appropriate data or econometric techniques. In the first essay using a unique dataset covering two years of high frequency data on the indices from markets in the U.S., London, Frankfurt, Paris, Warsaw, Prague, and Budapest I perform Cointegration and Granger causality tests with data of frequencies ranging from 5 minutes to 1 day. The aim is to describe the time structure in which markets react to the information revealed in prices on other markets. The results suggest that the speed of information transmission is very fast and that the use of daily data may be misleading when analyzing the issues of stock market integration and information transmission among markets. The other two essays focus on the curse of natural resources. In the second essay I test the robustness of the curse of natural resources with respect to various measures of the quality of democracy and regime stability. I also employ smoothed least trimmed squares, a robust estimation procedure, to estimate the curse. The often stressed robustness of the curse of natural resources is confirmed. The evidence presented indicates that the intensity of the curse depends on the level of civil liberties. In the...

News sources and their journalists : the issue of diversity resources in the context of the sociology of news
Křížová, Vendula ; Trunečková, Ludmila (referee) ; Trampota, Tomáš (advisor)
The thesis "News sources and their journalists. The issue of diversity resources in the context of the sociology of news" summarizes the current knowledge and understanding of sociology of news and sources and adds a bio-anthropological look at the strength and stability of relationships between the sources and journalists. These concepts will be then applied in quantitative research affecting the characteristics of sources cited in three selected Czech daily (Hospodářské noviny, Mladá fronta DNES and Právo). The survey of similar scope has not yet been generated in the Czech Republic. Research results follow the theoretical concepts and empirical researches and agree with them that the journalists in their daily routine work regularly turn to the "elite group of resources" for quotations. These sources are also quoted more often than other sources. However, there is so many people in the group of information resources spread around the editorial offices of newspapers, that it is almost impossible to talk about lack of diversity of resources. Research also confirmed that different types of media don't differ at all from each other in the basic parameters and are turning to the same types of resources regularly and with the same frequency.

Rekombinace a reakce iontů v plazmatu
Varju, Jozef ; Glosík, Juraj (advisor) ; Kaňka, Adolf (referee)
One of the most interesting questions in contemporary interstellar chemistry is the HCN/HNC abundance ratio observed in dense interstellar clouds. The observed ratios vary from 80:1 to 1:5 depending on the object under observation. These ratios represent a striking deviation from thermochemical equilibrium. Dissociative recombination of HCNH+ has been invoked to explain these observations. It is suggested to study details of this recombination using FALP apparatus equipped with NIR Cavity Ringdown Absorption Spectrometer (IR - CRDS). In the presented work we have developed kinetic model describing formation of HCNH+/e- plasma and consequent production of HCN and HNC. Analysed and discussed are conditions of experiment and applicability of IR - CRDS for the proposed study. To confirm our analyses the preliminary experiments were carried out using microwave discharge cell equipped with IR - CRDS. Studies of H3O+ and H2D+ ions were carried out to put together the experiment. The absorption spectra in a plasma containing He/N2/CH4 were measured in order to determine transition frequencies for study of products of recombination of CNH+ ions.

Comparison of Czech and English Speaker's Use of English Intersentential Connectives in Geographic Articles
Jirsová, Miroslava ; Pípalová, Renata (advisor) ; Matuchová, Klára (referee)
The present thesis is a corpus study comparing English and Czech (non-native) speakers' use of intersentential connectives in English geographic articles. The corpus contains English articles written by British English and Czech speakers, and translations from Czech into English. The thesis examines the frequency, formal diversity, semantic categories, position, punctuation, syntactic functions and formality of the connectives in the corpus. The results confirm the original hypothesis that texts written by Czech speakers are less rich in intersentential connectives, which applies both to their frequency and formal diversity. In the other categories, no significant differences were found. The interpretation of the differences is based on negative transfer, later stage in the order of acquiring language components within second language learning and acquisition, and the specificity of Czech scientific writing.

The room temperature resistivity, saturation magnetization at room temperature, as well as AC measurements was measured. The power losses are strongly dependent on frequency and excitations.

Statistical risk analysis of selected companies in regions of the Czech Republic
Veselá, Martina ; Hlavsa, Tomáš (advisor) ; Rudolf, Rudolf (referee)
This thesis mainly deals with statistical analysis of risks in different selected businesses in Czech Republic, when the primary data are obtained through a questionnaire survey for the following statistical analysis, where frequency, mean and variability are used. The work confirmed the hypothesis of the occurance of differences in risk perception depending on the branch of business and also on the region. The conclusions could be used by new emerging companies, that through this thesis might be able to orientate themselves in risks analysis, specifically in their branch of business and the region.
