Title: Knowledge of rowing between students of Czech University of Life Sciences Prague and Charles University, Faculty of Physical Education and Sport. Objectives: The main objective of this work is to compare the knowledge breadth of the students of the sports-oriented faculty with faculty (university) which is not focused on sport fields. Another objective is to explore students' general knowledge of the sport of rowing. Results: Based on the obtained data, we can say that the surveyed students of the sports Faculty of Physical Education and Sport have a wider knowledge of rowing than respondents of the Czech University of Life Sciences. In summary, all the respondents have an only basic knowledge of rowing. The name of the Czech rowing representative said only 51% of all respondents. Dysfunctions of musculoskeletal system of the rowers and their physiotherapy
ŠÍMOVÁ, Gabriela
This bachelor's thesis deals with dysfunctions of the musculoskeletal system of rowers, and possibilities of treatment by some physiotherapies. Rowing is a power-endurance sport, whose main target is to cover different distances in the shortest times using special rowing boats. This sport puts extraordinary demands on muscle performance of the upper and lower limbs and trunk. High loadings and overloading of the musculoskeletal system can lead to the formation of functional impairments or muscle imbalances. These dysfunctions reduce coordination, stability and overall performance of athletes, but also increases the risk of injury. However, despite extreme loads, the accident rate for rowers is not high, only 0,3 %, mainly because it's a non-contact sport. Rowers most often suffer from back pain or tendinitis, joint injuries, stress fractures and cramps. This bachelor's thesis is divided into two sections theoretical and practical. The theoretical section comprises basic knowledge an introduction to rowing, history of the sport, its characteristics, kinesiology of rowing motion and the most frequent musculoskeletal disorders in these athletes. This section also summarises knowledge of sports medicine and functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system, including causes and effects. The practical section describes methods of examination in physiotherapy and therapeutic procedures, including qualitative research data. This research was developed through case studies, including the medical history of probands, kinesiology entrance analysis, and design of a short-term treatment plan. The research covers a description of each course of therapy, kinesiology output analyses and an overall assessment of therapies. For each test person a specific long-term therapeutic plan was designed, and physiotherapy took place over a range of eight treatments. The aim of this thesis was to identify the most common musculoskeletal disorders in rowers, to show how we can apply appropriate kinesiotherapies, and to suggest approaches to prevent these disorders. This information may be used in the practice of sports and clinical physiotherapy or as educational material for a specific group of athletes.

Kinesiological Analysis of the Rowing Stroke
Zbořilová, Martina ; Bačáková, Radka (advisor) ; Kračmar, Bronislav (referee)
Title: Kinesiological Analysis of the Rowing Stroke. Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to obtain, to analyse and process the data on the activity and involvement of selected measured muscles, working during one rowing stroke - in the drive part and in the recovery part. Methods: The work is processed by a kinesiological analysis of selected movement of the rowing stroke, based on the determination of muscle activation. Electromyography method was synchronized with the video recording. Results: Based on the sequences of the muscle activation was described their order and sequence in the actual shot of the rowing stroke (drive phase and recovery). We have proved that in the rigorous technical performance are always activated the same muscles in the exactly same order. Individual deviations from the correct technique in measuring appeared and thus enable their correction. Keywords: Electromyography, stroke, rowing, muscles.

Title: Technique, didactics, and selected training methods in rowing of the disabled. The given thesis deals with the didactics, technique and training in rowing of the disabled. The aim of my thesis was to analyze expert literature from the area of rowing and sports for the disabled, then to find out and describe the appropriate training methods and teaching practices for the physically, visually and mentally disabled rowers and finally based on training, observation and interviews with the disabled athletes and the coaches to add the searched material with the practical experience. Results: Rowing of the disabled is a young sport which is at the beginning of its development. It was found out that the training methods for individual diagnosis of disability are not sufficiantly elaborated. The coaches who wish to devote to this sport have to learn from the experience of the trainers of healthy oarsmen.
