Christianity and Environmentalism, The Historical Roots of Ecological Crisis
Kameník, Pavel ; Halama, Jindřich (advisor) ; Keřkovský, Pavel (referee)
Man should not look for a single center or program in ecosystems, much less for subjective experiences. Instead, one should look for a matrix, for interconnections between centers of science for creative stimulus and open their potential. Humans have more understanding than ever of the natural world they inhabit, of the speciating processes, more predictive power to foresee the intended and unintended results of their actions, and more power to reverse the undesirable consequences. Several billion years worth of creative toil, several million species of teeming life, have been handed over to the care of this late-coming species in which mind has flowered and morals have Fortunately, it is often evident that human welfare depends on ecosystemic support, and in this sense all our legislation about clean air, clean water, soil conservation and so forth is concerned about ecosystem level processes. One of the levels is environmental ethics of naturalism and Christian responsibility. It seems to be one of historical roots of our ecological crisis. That is why we have to learn to listen to the Earth and find our new response or revert to our initial function. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Problematic of fluctuation of nurses
PAVLÍKOVÁ, Lenka
Abstract High turnover of nurses is a hot topic in the Czech Republic. There is a shortage of general nurses in health care facilities. This research is engaged on the reason why nurses are discontented and give up their jobs in health care services. The aim of this paper is to find out the reason for the high turnover of nurses. I used a quantitative research by means of a questionnaire survey to fulfil this aim. The questionnaire contained 35 questions, 26 of which were closed and 9 of which were semi-open. 134 respondents participated in this questionnaire survey. The data were processed by descriptive statistics by means of charts. It follows from the data analysis that nurses turnover is influenced by continuous operation. Wide offer of jobs on the job market, too, affects the high turnover of nurses. Moreover, managers of health care facilities do not take appropriate measures to prevent the staff fluctuation. It results from the research that it is necessary to keep paying attention to this matter. We have mapped out several spheres in our research which are, according to our opinions, narrowly associated with this theme. Our research is based on the theoretic part of this paper. The present paper contributes to mapping out the situation in health care facilities from the point of view of general nurses, leading to increased turnover and lack of staff. The research also shows that there will be sufficient number of nurses if hospital managements are more interested in what their nurses are concerned about and why they cannot exercise their profession and help them out to the highest possible extent. This paper can serve as a matter of consideration for nurses themselves, ward sisters, staff nurses, managements of health care facilities, as well as students of nursing.

Proxy servers in Internet
Henek, Jan ; Burda, Karel (referee) ; Komosný, Dan (advisor)
The goal of this paper is to analyze the representation of proxy servers in cyber attacks conducted by Internet. For this purpose I used method which compares tested IP address with database of open proxy servers. I assembled a list of IP address taken from the blacklist of cyber attacks committed in 2015. Then I checked this list with the created program Proxy checker and compared them with a database of open proxy servers. By measurement I demonstrate the inefficacy of this method for reverse detection of proxy servers in the IP list of past attacks.

Exchange Rate Transmission In the case of Ethiopia
Muhammed, Muhammed Siraj ; Holub, Tomáš (advisor) ; Adam, Tomáš (referee)
This study examines the pass through of exchange rate shocks to Ethiopian domestic inflation. The baseline analysis carried out with the VAR/SVAR model, using four endogenous and three exogenous variables, employing quarterly data for the period 1993Q1 to 2011Q4. The pass through effect is quantified by means of impulse response. The finding of the full sample estimate shows that, although statistically insignificant, the ERPT to consumer prices is fairly large, but incomplete. Moreover, a sub sample analysis reveals that although the pass through for the two periods has been substantially large and complete, it is higher for the relatively low inflation periods (1993Q1-2002Q4) than for the high inflation period (2003Q1-2011Q4); which contradicts with other empirical studies. On the other hand, the variance decomposition function results show that the external factors such as world oil price fluctuations and foreign prices have a greater role in explaining the domestic inflation for the period 2003Q1-2011Q4 than for the period 1993Q1-2002Q4. The high share of imported goods to the total CPI, the market structure of the economy and the openness of the economy to the international market are the determining factors of the pass through. The supply side shocks, the money supply growth, shocks of world...

Stereoscopic Observations of Solar Radio Emissions by the S/WavesInstrument onboard the STEREO Spacecraft
Krupař, Vratislav ; Santolík, Ondřej (advisor) ; Krucker, Samuel (referee) ; Wimmer-Schweingruber, Robert F. (referee)
This PhD thesis is primarily dedicated to a study of type III radio bursts observed by the S/Waves instrument onboard Solar TErrestrial RElations Observatory (STEREO). These emissions are produced by beams of suprathermal electrons escaping the corona along open magnetic field lines during increased solar activity. As fast electrons propagate in the interplanetary (IP) medium, Langmuir waves are generated at the local electron plasma frequency fpe by a bump-on-tail instability and can be afterwards converted by a non-linear process into radio emissions at fpe and/or 2fpe: type III radio bursts. We have developed a goniopolarimetric (GP, also referred to as direction-finding) inversion using the Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) technique for electric measurements on three non-orthogonal antennas. It allows us to retrieve both wave vector directions and polarization properties of incident waves. We have also investigated the influence of extended sources (as a typical feature of type III radio bursts) on measured spectral matrices. We have found an empirical relation between apparent source sizes and spectral matrices decomposed by SVD. Abovementioned techniques have been extensively tested on data obtained by the High Frequency Receiver (HFR, a part of S/Waves). We have performed statistical analysis of a...

The Eurozone and small open economies from the perspective of the Optimum Currency Area Theory
Bodnár, Juraj ; Šíma, Ondřej (advisor) ; Pour, Jiří (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the existing knowledge about the theory of optimum currency areas and assess the euro area and selected small open economies in terms of this theory. In addition to traditional forms of OCA theory has profiled endogeneity theory, which allows fulfillment of OCA criteria ex post. The opposite approach is formulated in the hypothesis of specialization by P. Krugman. In the thesis I found out that the Eurozone is not an optimal currency area according the fulfillment of criteria of the OCA theory. Another observation is that a small open economy has limited opportunities to conduct independent monetary policy, what makes its membership in the monetary union in the long term necessary. However, its membership has some drawbacks especially that the exchange rate fluctuates according the fundamentals of the big economies (members of monetary union). Furthermore, I have found out by comparing the macroeconomic indicators of individual countries, that the membership of small open economies in the euro area is appropriate, but it has some risks. In the thesis, I also found out that small countries (especially microstates) should specialized in export of services - tourism, financial and administrative services.

Alfréd Radok's adaptations for the "laterna magika" principle
Šmídtová, Lenka ; Pavlovský, Petr (referee) ; Stehlíková, Eva (advisor)
Czech theater director Alfred Radok (1914-1976) was always temped by confronting several layers of meaning in one single work of art. On theater he used different scenic spaces at once - in e.g. his production of Offenbach's opera Hoffman's Tales (Velka opera 5. kvetna IThe Great May 5th Opera/, 1946) he combined two spaces which symbolized the two worlds of Hoffman's fantasy. The true character of these worlds was not only formed by the stage design but also by acting. When transiting from one space to the other the actors changed their gestures, their body language, the way they walked, etc. A similar principle was applied in Verdi's Rigoletto (Velka opera 5. kvetna IThe Great May 5th Operal, 1947). In this production the singers were moving inbetween two different worlds - one being represented by a ceremonial opening night of this performance in Teatro La Fenice, while the second by the theater backstage which unveiled the reverse side of fame (scene-shifters were preparing the change of the upcoming scene, one singer was flirting around with the dancers, prop-woman was knitting etc.). This specific technique of totally diverse realities medley became the basis for Radok's film debut Daleka cesta IFar Away Journey/ (1949). A portrayal of a life story of a mixed marriage during the Second World War is...

Proteomic changes of malignant cells induced by short-term treatment with valproic acid.
Kostrouchová, Markéta ; Mandys, Václav (advisor)
Cancers are clonal disorders of multicellular organisms that arise by accumulation of genetic mutations and step-wise induction of epigenetic events that silence transcription of tumor suppressing genes and facilitate expression of tumor promoting genes. This allows cancer cells in combination with altered response of host organism to overcome the regulatory cascades that orchestrate proper cooperation of cells within the multicellular organism. Epigenetic regulation is executed on the level of DNA by methylation of CpG islands and on the level of post-translational modification of chromatin proteins, histones in the first place. Post-translational modifications of histones include histone phosphorylation, acetylation, methylation, biotinylation, poly(ADP ribosylation), ubiquitination and sumoylation. Histone acetylation is connected with transcription activation or "openness" of chromatin to regulation by transcriptional factors. Histones are acetylated by histone acetyltranferases (HATs). Histone acetylation is a dynamic process that is reversed by histone deacetylases (HDACs), enzymes that are able to remove the acetyl residue from the acetylated histones. A decrease in gene expression brought about by low acetylation of histones is part of the cancer specific transcription profile that is characterized...

Exchange rate during crisis
Tran Thi, Anh Phuong ; Pošta, Vít (advisor) ; Rusmichová, Lada (referee)
The aim of this thesis analysis of exchange rates development during financial crisis of 2008 in the case of selected currency pairs. The thesis is focused primarily on empirical analysis of exchange rate movements in small open economies, namely the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary. The theoretical part is devoted to balance of payments, exchange rate theories and economic crises 2008. The analytical part is devoted to the effects of major macroeconomic indicators on exchange rate development and empirical verification of major fundamental theories of exchange rate. The work explores the possible causes of fluctuations in exchange rates during recent crisis and their impact on the real economy.
