Investments in Energy Sector through the Lenses of Valuation
Tezner, Karel ; Heřman, Jan (advisor) ; Bílek, Milan (referee)
The main research goal is to identify specifics of energy utilities generating electricity and heat from a valuation perspective. To fulfill this goal, the electricity and district heating sector, their characteristic, economic aspects and related regulation have been described. Having weighted possible valuation approaches, the author has decided to opt for both the DCF method and the method using market multiples. The former has been extended by Monte Carlo simulation. The financial and strategic analysis, analysis of key value drivers, financial plan and valuation itself has been thoroughly done. There have been 7 values of equity derived according to a method used and assumptions considered. The variability of outcomes indicates the need for a correct consideration of relevant factors while compiling valuation. These factors are as follows: costs of inputs and their impacts on the entity's operation, price of electricity and heat, life cycle, technological parameters and ecological regulation.

Alcohol and smoking in pregnancy
PLEŠÁKOVÁ, Šárka
Alcohol and smoking are worldwide spread drugs but only very limited number of women know their harmful effects on the foetus and on the pregnant women themselves. Taking these addictive substances appears among younger and younger people therefore early foreknowledge is very important. Unfortunately alcohol is a tolerated drug in our countries because the addiction is arising usually slowly and consequences of alcohol addiction are not so apparent at first sight. The same can be said about smoking which affects both pregnancy and the foetus very negatively. Women who stop smoking before conception reduce the risk of complications with conceiving, with early outflow of amniotic fluid or low birth weight of the foetus. Medical personnel should make an effort to explain to women how alcohol and smoking endanger both them and their non-born baby. The first goal of the work was to find out opinions, knowledge and foreknowledge of women on the influence of alcohol and smoking on the development of their foetus. In relation to this goal there were asked two research questions. What is women´s information on harmfulness of alcohol during pregnancy like? And what is women´s information on harmfulness of smoking during pregnancy like? The second goal was to find out if physicians and other members of the medical personnel are interested in whether the pregnant woman drinks alcohol or smokes. In relation to this goal there were asked the following research questions: In what ways do the medical personnel educate pregnant women about the harmfulness of alcohol during pregnancy? In what ways do the medical personnel educate pregnant women about the harmfulness of smoking during pregnancy? The practical part of the work was compiled on the basis of the qualitative research inquiry and the structured interview was the selected technique for data collection. The same structure of questions made the interview categorizations easier and enabled to hold the content structure of all interviews. Interviews were carried out in November 2012 in homes of respondents and upon their agreements the interviews were recorded by means of audiovisual technologies or recorded in writing. The research group consisted of ten women in different pregnancy stages. The only selection criterion was the confirmed pregnancy and the will to be interviewed. The carried out research resulted in the fact that pregnant women are aware of harmful effects of alcohol and smoking during pregnancy but they have lack of more detailed information. In most cases they do not know the notion of foetal alcohol syndrome and more than a half of respondents do not find any problem in consuming small amount of alcohol during pregnancy and have no information on compensatory nicotine therapy. The second goal showed that in most cases medical personnel members are not interested in alcohol consumption and smoking issues. Research inquiry results could be used for quality improvement and for broadening general foreknowledge of all women in reproductive age. Respondents agreed on the fact that if there was the information available in waiting rooms of antenatal clinics or in gynaecology waiting rooms, they would be happy to read these brochures.

The use of somatic features and motor tests of speed and coordination abilities for the selection of soldiers participating in close combat courses

44BSTRAKT Nazev práce: Využití somatických znaků a motorických testů rychlostních a koordi- načních schopností pro yýběr vojáků do kurzů boje zblízka. Anglický název práce: The use of somatic features and motor tests of speed and coordination abilities for the selection of soldiers participating in close combat courses. K navržení množiny proměn ných jsme využili algoritmu všech možných regresí (All Possible Regression). K ověření vybrané množiny proměnných jsme využili...

Solidarity and equivalence in social insurance system
Běloch, Petr ; Krebs, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Vybíralová, Ivana (referee)
Solidarity and equivalence are basic principles on which is built not only social policy, but also the underlying structure of society as a whole. If the people's look at these principles doesn't correspond to their integration in social security systems, people find it as unjust and the social policy as illegitimate. It will be a task for new government elected in 2010 to solve long lasting problems derived from negative impacts of aging society together with more legitimate setting of solidarity and equivalence. This work analyzes income inequality in Czech Republic compared with other countries, follows the development of replacement rate of retirement pay to wage in time and in comparison with the level of previous income. The work compares the observed data with people's views on the pension system which are presented in the public opinion research. Next part compares two different approaches to solve the "pension crisis" -- the Swedish system of virtual accounts and the Chilean fully funded scheme -- and outlines a new pension system, which doesn't create explicit costs during transition from the current system, increases the involvement of merit principle, supresses excessive redistribution and thus constitutes a long-term sustainable system solution.

Dwelling and drifting in space. Landscape in the poetry of Ted Hughes and Kenneth White
Potočňáková, Magdaléna ; Procházka, Martin (advisor)
This study was originally motivated by a desire to bring together a personal predilection for both landscape(s) and the study of literature, to merge the affective and the cognitive with the more analytical. An attempt to write a critical study about landscape in poetry, however, is bound to encounter difficulties as it is bound to ask questions. As Chris Fitter suggests in his book Poetry, space, landscape, the subject offers multiple approaches and tends to spread innumerable strands linking often disparate areas. On the other hand, one may ask a subversive question, namely whether nature and landscape poetry is not somewhat anachronistic at the turn of the second millenium. It must have seemed so when Terry Gifford, in 1995, opened his book Green Voices3 with a polemical statement: "Nature poetry is having a bad time". He was referring to the previous decade during which allegedly the 'spirit of post-modernism' had changed the preoccupations of poetry and which was marked by such statements of reviewers and editors of poetry anthologies as: "We seem to have lost out nature poets", "We don't publish much landscape poetry" or "Ted Hughes is a remarkable writer but no longer the presiding spirit of British poetry". 4 The very title of Gifford' s book, however, indicates a new impetus behind contemporary...

Vector-pathogen-host interaction on the example of spirochetes Lyme boreliosis disease (and tick-borne encephalistis virus)
VAVRUŠKOVÁ, Zuzana
This study was focused on vector-pathogen-host interaction. Questing ticks from field were tested for presence of Borrelia burgdorferi s.l. and host DNA. Small rodents were trapped, ticks were collected from them, infestation patterns were estimated regarding the species and stage of ticks and species, sex and body weight of the host. Ticks aquired from hosts were tested for presence of Borrellia burgdorferi s.l. and tick-borne encephalitis virus. Both results from identification of hosts and from detection of pathogens were compared to be able to investigate interactions between host, vector and pathogen.
