Bite of dog by children in South of Bohemia
PFLEGEROVÁ, Jitka
Dog bites are becoming an ever more urgent issue. This is caused by the increasing numbers of pets. Children and senior citizens are the most frequent victims of dog bites. Dog bites are caused mostly by cuspids and carnassials teeth. Depending on the intensity of the jaw squeeze the resulting injury is an imprint, scratch, contusion with hemorrhage or stab wound. If the jaw squeeze is very strong even an amputation may occur, particularly of fingers, nose and external ear. Injuries caused by dog bites are mostly of a laceration {--} contusion character. Older children are most frequently injured on limbs, particularly arms. The second, in terms of frequency, are wounds and injuries of head and neck, followed by trunk injuries. In children under 4 years of age the injuries of head and neck account for up to 2/3 of all injuries caused by dog bites. The consequences may include a lifelong trauma. Therefore the issue should not be underestimated and dog attacks should be prevented. The objective of my bachelor thesis was to identify and compare the number of dog attacks against children and youth in towns and municipalities in the South Bohemian region. The objective of the thesis has been met. The research sought to confirm or to rebut the following hypotheses: H: There is a correlation between the number of dog attacks and the size of a municipality or town, H1: There is a correlation between the size of a dog breed and the number of attacks, H2: An absolute majority of all injuries caused by dogs does not require medical intervention H3: An absolute majority of all injuries caused by dogs occurs in the home environment, H4: An absolute majority of a the inquired respondents were attacked by their own dogs. The hypothesis H has been confirmed. Attacks by dogs are three times more frequent in villages than in towns. The hypothesis H1 has not been confirmed. The percentages of attacks are nearly the same for big and small breeds. The difference consisted of 10 %. The hypothesis H2 has been confirmed. 81% of injuries caused by dog attacks were treated at home. The hypothesis H3 has been confirmed. An absolute majority of injuries caused by dogs occurred at home or in the garden - own, in gardens of friends or neighbors. The hypothesis H4 has been rebutted. 33% of the approached respondents were bitten by their own dogs. The results of the research have shown that only 11 of the approached respondents were instructed by their teachers about what to do in case of a dog bite. The answers indicate that the issue of dog bite is missing in the school curriculum. The situation can be improved by implementation of preventive programs dealing with the issue and by expanding the school curriculum. The dog training and canistherapy association Hafík conducts prevention programs in nursery schools as a part of a therapy with the assistance of animals. The association Hafík might also cooperate with schools.

Possibilities of the usage of nonconventional methods and dietary supplements in prevention and in health provision of calves
ZÁBRANSKÝ, Luboš
It is important to take care of calves and their health for good results in beef-raising. The aim of the work was to evaluate the effect of dietary supplements Lactovita and Biopolym on the frequency of diarrhoea occurrence in calves in the first stages of the period after weaning for milk nutrition. The experiment was conducted in farmers' cooperation Staré Hobzí, where Holstein Cattle are bred. Two groups of calves were made {--} control and experimental group. In an experimental group dietary supplements to support active immunity were served according to the guideline. In case of diarrhoea occurrence the calves from experimental group were cured in the same way as the calves from control group. The occurrence of disorders during the period of experiment, method and length of treatment were recorded. Recorded data were summarised and statistically evaluated. The calves were examined from 29th February to 20th December. The results proved positive effect of dietary supplements Lactovita and Biopolym, but these results were statistifically insignificant. It is assumed that in case of studying bigger groups the proof of statistical significance will be more probable.

It also introduces institutions that manage the problem and that we can contact in case of encounter with discrimination. In the next part, the thesis focuses on the negative aspects of discrimination and on the occurrence frequency of discrimination itself in the Czech Republic, particularly in the job advertisements and during job interviews. The practical part of the thesis concentrates on the discrimination of person over 50 in the district of Teplice, both from the point of view of the unemployed persons and the employees of the Labor Office. The analysis of eating habits of diabetics in the USA
Vaňkátová, Helena ; Vlček, Jiří (advisor) ; Matoulková, Petra (referee)
Besides the good drug compliance, appropriate nutrition plays important role in successful management of the metabolic aspects of type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2), and in the prevention of diabetes-related conditions. The goal of this study was to analyze eating habits among DM2 patients in the United States. The Fat- and Fiber-Related Diet Habits Questionnaire (A.Shattuck, 1998) was used in this study to obtain identical data for comparison. The original version was slightly adjusted according to the local habits. The study took place at the El Rio Community Health Center clinics in Tucson, Arizona, USA; during the time period of three months (September to December 2011). Patients with DM2 patients visiting the clinic were recruited for participation. Once patients were given the questionnaire, answers were put into the database created in an Excel application (Microsoft Office 2010) and analyzed using the frequency analysis. 207 patients filled out the questionnaire. The mean age was 56,8 ± 12,6 years, the mean age when diagnosed with DM2 was 45,3 ± 12,7 years, BMI 33,2 ± 7,8 kg/m2, the mean waist circumference 109,7 ± 19,7 cm and the mean A1C was 8,1± 1,7% (ad DCCT). 10% of participants were treated only by the diet, 49% with peroral antidiabetics (PAD), 14% with insulin, and 28% with combination...

The Non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (epidemiology, trends and possibilities for prevention)
Mrhalová, Karolína ; Jankovská, Milada (advisor)
Non-Hodgkin's lymphomas as lymphoproliferative disease are among the cancer is still increasing incidence. According to the World analysis is the high incidence observed mainly in developed countries than in development, which could suggest that also applies to the modern way of life. In the Czech Republic recorded a similar trend increasing incidence. In 2002, non-Hodgkin's tumors reached the 11th place in the incidence of individual tumors in the Czech Republic. From the etiological point of view it is typically multifactorial diseases, but some of the units are associated with inducing causes. Other factors include environmental influences. Diagnosis of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma is a very challenging and with it the very limited possibilities of prevention. The aim of this work is to show the trend of increasing incidence and world in the Czech Republic resulting from epidemiological studies. Furthermore, using data Registry of Cooperative Lymphoma Study Group (Czech Lymphoma Study Group - CLSG) outline the situation of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma overall frequency and distribution various types of NHL. To point out the particular characteristics related to the types of non-Hodgkin's lymphomas.

Pathological phenomena of children and youth
Cardová, Ilona ; Pelikán, Jiří (advisor) ; Koťa, Jaroslav (referee)
The characteristic of my dissertation is theoretic - empirical. The dissertation deals with problems of social pathological phenomena by children and youth and problems of discipline. Some kinds of social-pathological phenomena, their most frequent manifestation and consequent solustions are descrideb in the theoretical part. The important part of the theoretical part is the problem of discipline , its manifestation and the solution too . The empirical part deals with the research at the secondary trade school in order to find out the quantity of the occurrence of socialpathological phenomena and following influencing of discipline. The aim of it is not only the mapping of frequency of the occurrence, but also the options of students and teachers of given problems. Which is suitable preventation or solution of social-pathological phenomena and the lack of discipline by students of the secondary trade schoul. These findings could be a contribution for teachers, who face these problems daily. The questionnaire method for teachers and students was used in the research part, which was completed by the analysis of school documents from the period 2006 - 2009. It was proved in the research increasing occurence of social-pathological phenomena in the context of the lack of discipline. On the basis of finding...

Comparison of vaccines against pertussis
Karásková, Veronika ; Fabiánová, Kateřina (advisor)
Pertussis is a disease with high infectiousness, caused by gramnegative bacteria Bordetella pertussis. Bordetella colonizes the respiratory epithelium and induces typical symptoms. The main factors of pathogenesis are filamentous hemaglutin (FHA), pertussis toxin (PT), pertactin (PRN), fimbrial agglutinogens (fim2, fim3). The disease has three stages - catarrhal, paroxysmal and recovery. Cultivation method is used as a diagnostical proof. The causal therapy of pertussis is antibiotical therapy, especially macrolides. Pertussis is a disease preventable by vaccination. In 1958, the routine vaccination was started in Czech Republic by whole cell vaccine. There was a significant decrease of incidence of pertussis after that. During the 90's the incidence has gently grown up again. Pertussis was an infant disease before (children up to 5 years of age). Nowadays we can see an age shift to adolescents and adults. Pertusis is most dangerous for children younger than one year. The infection of the adults could be mild or even asymptomatic. The whole cell vaccine has often side effects, which are worse with raising age and frequency of sticks. In 2007 there was a new vaccination schedule introduced in Czech Republic which contains a new acellular vaccine. There are fewer side effects after vaccination with acellular...

Introducing Nursing Care Standard to the Anaesthesiology Clinic
Štěpánková, Jitka ; Holmerová, Iva (advisor) ; Vaculíková, Barbora (referee)
Nowadays, "quality" is a much-used term in connection with the provision of healthcare. Every healthcare provider has as its goal the provision of high-quality services. Its up to each of them to decide both how ambitious they can be in the pursuit of patient satisfaction and how best to achieve this. At the IKEM Anaesthesiology Clinic, we provide post-operative care for patients after cardiac surgery. In the early stages of recovery, patients can suffer acute pain accompanied by a whole range of other symptoms. Insufficient analgesia prevents patients attempting adequate breathing rehabilitation and early post-operative mobilisation. Some patients accept pain as part and parcel of surgery. Even though they are in pain they don't think to ask for analgesia. For these reasons, we decided to research how the patient views his own comfort and rates his experience of the medical care provided in the post-operative department. By means of simple organisational measures - increasing the frequency and relevance of patient feedback, by standardising procedures and introducing standard practices into the analgaesic therapy, it is possible to increase patients' comfort. And this without increasing costs and without unnecessary side-effects.
