The Working of Memory in Adults with Communication Disabilities
Nestávalová, Hana ; Housarová, Blanka (referee)
In spite of increasing interest at the problematic of memory, the field of memory and logopedia is "tabula rasa". Therefore I try to describe general view of memory at adult people with impaired communication ability in my paper "Memory achievement at adult people with impaired communication ability" . The aim of this work is to map memory function of these people with memory test made by myself. This test is focused on adult people with impaired communication ability and also on healthy adult people which work as a control sample. I also presume that thist test can fill up a blank in test materials for speech therapist and also work as a material for training.

Literary and linguistic innovation within Arundhati Roy's The God of Small Things
Szilágyiová, Ester ; Volná, Ludmila (referee) ; Nováková, Soňa (advisor)
In October 1997 it came as a great surprise that Arundhati Roy's novel The God of Small Things was awarded a Booker Prize for fiction, which in the last three decades had become the "paper Nobel" for writers from the Commonwealth. The book was chosen from a list of six other novels in which Roy was, besides Mick Jackson, the only first time novelist. 1 The novel, according to R.K. Dhawan, was not the most favoured by the judges. He writes "There was - a general feeling amongst the critics that, despite its popular appeal, it might not win the Booker.,,2 Nevertheless, the decision turned to Roy's book and almost five years of hard and creative work brought its reward. The book became a best selling "mega wonder" over night and sold more copies than any other Booker winner in the history of the contest. The novel has been translated into more than forty languages3 and became a popular subject of academic studies. There is little room for doubt when stating that the path to popularity and importance for The God of Small Things has already been pre-paved by Salman Rushdie "who put Indian writing on an International literary map,,4; by Rushdie, the "messiah" for the Indian novel in English of the penultimate decade of the twentieth century. The appearance of his Midnight's Children "brought about a renaissance...

An outline of numerical functions in Tanak
Klíma, Lukáš ; Prudký, Martin (advisor) ; Sláma, Petr (referee)
This essay deals with the function of the numerical relations within the Hebrew Bible(Tanak). It proceeds on three levels. The first level presents the formative function of numbers, which by means of of gematria influences the shape of proper names and numerical data. The second level is concerned with the compositional function of numbers, important for the formal aspect of poetic texts in particular. Any numerical datum is carrying out this function through deliberate number of forming elements (i.e. sections, words and letters). The third level focuses on the kerygmatic function of numbers, opperative by commonly shared symbolism and illustrated by several historiographic and apocalyptic texts. The numerical symbols reflect the quality of objects they relate to and, at the same time, they contextulize them within Biblical canon. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Rate of investigation users of drugs
VÁVROVÁ, Marie
This diploma thesis is focused on testing drug users. Specifically, this thesis is concerned with testing drug users in low-threshold centres. These low-threshold centres for drug users operate in the area of secondary and tertiary prevention. Furthermore, it describes individual diseases such as HIV, HBV, HCV and syphilis, their mode of transmission, clinical course, diagnosis, treatment and possible prevention, drug policy of the Czech Republic, the conditions for testing the abovementioned diseases in low-threshold centres and the legal framework for testing at these facilities. The practical part is divided into several research studies. The qualitative research is aimed at low-threshold centres. In this part, I am trying to determine the number of HIV, HBV and HCV tests performed in 2014. Next, the purpose of this section is also to define where the testing takes place and who is tested. The research data were obtained using a questionnaire distributed to the low-threshold centres in the CR. According to the Annual Report on Drug Epidemiology from 2014, there are 76 low-threshold centres in the Czech Rep. A total of 32 questionnaires were collected. The questionnaire consisted of 32 questions. Close-ended questions were used to detect the type of facility, whether the facility carries out tests for the chosen types of diseases, what type of test is used, who performs the testing and where the testing is carried out. Open-ended questions were used to determine the number of people tested. The qualitative research consists of 18 interviews with drug users from the Contact Centre Český Krumlov. Thanks to its field program, this centre operates in Český Krumlov, Větřní, Kaplice, Horní Planá, Loučovice, Frymburk, Vyšší Brod and in border regions such as Horní and Dolní Dvořiště or Studánky where the drug abuse is very problematic. The data were collected using a semistructured anonymous interview. The interview consisted of 4 areas:Data for identification purposes. Drug history.Testing.Awareness.30 questionnaires received from the respondents at the Prevent Contact Centre in České Budějovice can be found in the Appendix. The data were collected using an anonymous questionnaire which consisted of three basic areas. The collected data included drug history and identification information, information about testing for infectious diseases and knowledge of health risks. The thesis states 6 goals. The first 3 goals deal with mapping of HBV, HCV and HIV testing among drug users at low-threshold centres in 2014. The purpose of the fourth goal is to determine how the testing is carried out in low-threshold centres. The fifth goal attempts to establish whether drug users are interested in HBV, HCV and HIV testing. Finally, the sixth goal determines whether drug users were tested in 2014.After processing the results I established the following hypotheses which resulted from the research.H1: Drug users are interested in their health.H2:Drug users are aware of risks that result from these diseases.H3: The possibility of testing at low-threshold centres is not chosen very often by drug users. The research showed that drug users have adequate information about the risks that are associated with drug injection and injecting equipment sharing, but the average amount of performed tests is relatively low.To sum up, drug users need to be constantly informed about the importance of regular testing. In order to increase the number of tested people, it would be advisable to adapt the testing to the users' needs and also to perform more tests within field programs. It would also be helpful to link health facilities to contact centres locally.

Phenylketonuria and the Life with the Disease.
JÁNSKÁ, Karin
Phenylketonuria is an autosomal hereditary metabolic disorder of amino acids caused by insufficient activity of liver enzyme phenylalanine hydroxylase, which is necessary for metabolism of the essential amino acid phenylalanine to tyrosine. Obligatory newborn screening aimed at detection of the disease before development of clinical symptoms was introduced in Czechoslovakia in 1975. Increased level of phenylalanine in blood leads to an irreversible damage of the nerve system, mental retardation. Phenylketonuria is an incurable, however treatable disease, where diet with low phenylalanine content is still the only treatment. As amino acids are the building units of proteins, patients have to take proteins in the form of amino-acid products without phenylalanine. Although high phenylalanine levels lead to irreversible damages it cannot be completely eliminated from nourishment as it is necessary for the growth and development of a human. Phenylketonuria prevalence is 1:5338 in the Czech Republic as of 2013. Patients with this disease have to be dispensarized for the whole life. Women that want to become pregnant should be much more careful in adherence to the diet as sudden increase of phenylalanine in mother's blood threatens healthy development of the foetus. The thesis named Phenylketonuria and the Life with the Disease is elaborated on theoretical base by scientific methods of explanation, modelling and induction. The aim of elaboration of this topic was to map the problems related to phenylketonuria, including nursing care and the life obstacles to patients with the diagnosis. Medicine journals, e.g. Československá pediatrie, Metabolík, Výživa a potraviny, Medicína a umění, where the latest findings based on recent studies are published, were another important source of information. After studying literature specialized in the topic our task was to provide important information. The present thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter provides basic information on phenylketonuria. We learn how the diagnosis is classified, what its nature is, the occurrence of phenylketonuria in individual countries is described here. It outlines the history, diagnostics and developing symptoms of untreated phenylketonuria. Lifelong diet with low phenylalanine content is the basic treatment, other treatment methods are still in the research phase. The second chapter focuses on the nursing care of a patient with phenylketonuria, it outlines the role of a nurse in the care of hospitalized patients. The problems of anaesthesia are also marginally mentioned here. We can find a list of metabolomic workplaces specialized in the care of these patients in the Czech Republic. Deficits linked to adherence to low protein diet are also mentioned. The third chapter deals with diet for patients with phenylketonuria at various life stages. The last chapter describes the economic-ethical problem and current contributions of health insurers to diet products. The assigned bachelor thesis might serve as informational material in practice, as it is suitable for all those interested in the issue. If the assigned bachelor thesis outlined the nature of phenylketonuria and an individual founds answers to his/her questions there, the thesis would meet its purpose. More than eighty years have passed since the explanation of the phenylketonuria nature. Diagnostics methods have developed from the napkin test with ferric chloride to newborn screening where a blood drop is taken from new-born baby's heal on a filter paper and the phenylalanine level is consequently evaluated in a laboratory. The treatment principle however remains the same, namely consistent adherence on low protein diet to reach the optimum phenylalanine concentration in patient's blood.

Ditchers
Slabý, David ; Cibulka, Josef (referee) ; Lidický, Bernard (advisor)
The aim of this work is to combine the playability and the idea of the legendary game Tunneler with the option of programming arti cial intelligence for computer players. Writing scripts and their use in the game is separated from the game itself, so the author of a script only has to know the scripting language and a few interface functions to successfully create an intelligent robot. At the same time the game is suffciently attractive to casual players, it is easy to operate and has some additional features, such as multiple weapons, maps and robot types. Another important feature is the option of playing over LAN.

User Interfaces for Editing Transfer Functions
Svoboda, Michal ; Krajíček, Václav (referee) ; Maršálek, Lukáš (advisor)
Visualization of volume data is nowadays still actual theme in computer graphics. The reason is a significant role of volume data in fields such as medicine, biology or simulation of physics experiments. In order to create informative visualizations of volume data, it is necessary to create so-called "transfer functions" that maps input values to a displayable quantity. Creating transfer functions is often difficult and lengthy process. Often considerable expertise is also required from the user. The aim of this work is to design user interface for creating and editing transfer functions, which would work as intuitively as possible. The basic requirement is a direct interaction between transfer function and displayed data. The result of this work is user interface, which does not put high demands on specialized knowledge of the user.

Semantic web in confrontation with Peirce's Semiotics
Řeháčková, Dana ; Pudlák, Štěpán (advisor) ; Švantner, Martin (referee)
The Semantic web was created for a purpose of conceptualization data available on the Internet. Through formalized representations, that are determined for data sharing and reusing, should have been its vision realized. Main aims of Semantic web are high exactness and relevance for searching question. The controversy and polysemy of the term "Semantic web" let us consider the question: "Where is the limit of involving semantic aspects provided on Semantic web?" Is it not only the amount of determinations of specific standards that are connected with data itself? The main aim of this thesis is the comparison of using terms on the Semantic web in semantic metadiscourse with traditional academic semiotics approaches appeared from pragmatic of Ch. S. Peirce, Ch. W. Morris and H. P. Grice. The thesis should help with mapping the problematic area that is connected with using terms like "meaning" and "understanding" and clarify the possibilities of the function of the Semantic web based on the semiotics conceptions.
