Effect of substrate on the production of earthworms Dendrobena veneta
SCHMIDTMAJEROVÁ, Eva
The importance of biological processes for processing of organic wastes is widely acknowledged. My thesis focuses on one of the most efficient methods for conversion of organic wastes into precious products, which are at the same time environmentally friendly. Vermicomposting includes complex food webs and simultaneously modifies various chemical forms of basic nutrients into inorganic compounds, useful for plant nutrition. The thesis briefly describes biology, distribution and basic ecological categories of earthworms and shows their importance in decomposition organic wastes. I describe here the main earthworm species and then concentrate on Dendrobaena veneta. I then compare 5 substrates from the point of view of their suitability for production of this earthworm species and of the suitability of the resulting substrate as fertilizer. I have found that the best substrate for production of Dendrobaena veneta was the output of a sewarage plant and pure celulose.

Intercultural communication in firms
Štillerová, Aneta ; Froněk, Jan (referee) ; Tureckiová, Michaela (advisor)
In my bachelor thesis I deal with the cultural influence on communication in firms. The work draws from topics of general intercultural communication, which I then relate to the corporate life. My starting point is the assumption that Czech firms have so far rather been unaware of, neglected or underestimated the cultural influence on the corporate communication. Therefore I focused in particular on the most important and basic topics of intercultural communication. The aim is to provide both managers and employees with enough arguments so as to make them accept the intercultural communication as a relevant topic of the current corporate life and aware of the training needs which would develop the overall communication competence. In the first chapter I deal with the corporate communication, then with the topic of culture and eventually with the intercultural communication in firms. As a specific part I included few results of an inquiry with employees of a Czech branch of German IT company that employs specialist coming from a wide variety of countries. The second chapter is extensive. The reader is introduced to actual topics of intercultural communication, in particular to the cultural influence on our perception and thinking, then to the different communication styles, to cultural differences in...

BCRP in the placenta - expression, lokalization, function
Šobáňová, Ivana ; Štaud, František (advisor) ; Nachtigal, Petr (referee)
Breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP, ABCG2, ABCP, MXR) is the 72 kDa multidrug resistance protein belonging to the family of ABC transporters. This efflux transporter is able to distinguish and actively extrude a wide variety of chemically and structurally unrelated compounds out of cells. BCRP is most expresse in the majority of human tissues, most abundantly it is expressed in the apical membrane of placental syncytiotrophoblasts. This localization predetermines BCRP to play an important role in protecting the fetus by limiting the penetration of various xenobiotics across the placental barrier. Because of the need to treat some diseases even during pregnancy the knowledge of transplacental pharmacokinetics becomes necessary for evaluation of potential toxicity and therapeutic value of the drugs in pregnancy. The aim of this work is to summarize the current knowledge concerning the expression, localization, polymorphism and function of BCRP transporter in placenta and also the role of BCRP in pharmacotherapy in pregnancy.

Rousková, Milena ; Šolcová, Olga ; Kaštánek, František ; Bárnet, M. ; Svátek, A. ; Stránská, M. ; Hanika, Jiří
In the framework of the project BIORAF, supported by Technology Agency CR (project no. TE01020080), plantations for experimental production of Miscanthus × giganteus and Miscanthus sinensis have been founded by the project partner AGRA Co. Tall stems of this plant contain a broad spectrum of various substances (waxes, lipids, carotenoids, etc.) being potentially exploitable in cosmetics.Extraction processing of crushed dry stems using non-polar solvent is a promising way for separation of these substances into an extract, whereas the waste raffinate containing waste biomass has, after being pressed into the form of pellets, the potential for energetic utilization as green fuel.\n

Fifty-five strains of nonbasidiomycetous fungi were isolated from the L (litter) and H (humic) horizons of forest soil with dominant Quercus sp. Approx. 15% of isolates produce enzymes capable of phenols oxidation These enzymes can potentially be involved in the transformation of lignin and humic substances in soil

Inhibice lidského rekombinantního CYP2D6 isochinolinovými alkaloidy
Jeřábková, Lenka ; Štaud, František (advisor) ; Pourová, Jana (referee)
The purpose of this work was to screen a set of isoquinoline alkaloids for their inhibitory potency toward CYP450 isoenzyme CYP2D6. Since the human cytochrome P450 plays a pivotal role in a metabolism of both xenobiotics and endogenous substances, studying its interactions is a basic task in early drug development. CYP2D6 is due to its high polymorphism monitored very often. The in vitro method with fluorometric detection was used to determine the inhibitory effect of 20 alkaloids towards the recombinant human CYP2D6. Isoquinoline alkaloids were divided into the groups based on their relative structures. It was determined that 11 out of 20 are potent inhibitors, 3 moderate, 5 weak and one is not inhibitor. In percentage representation it means that 70% of all measured compounds are at least moderate potent inhibitors to CYP2D6 in this assay. They create mainly the members of protoberberine alkaloid group. The structure of these compounds might contribute to the searching of new inhibitors for data-sets for in silico drug metabolism predicting methods.

Plant alkaloid sanguinarine and its derivatives
Tůmová, Lucie ; Hýsková, Veronika (referee) ; Stiborová, Marie (advisor)
This work is summarizing actual knowledge about sanguinarine and quaternary benzo[c]fenanthridine alkaloids. The quaternary benzo[c]fenanthridine alkaloids were found in roots plants Sanguinaria canadensis and Macleaya cordata. This plants are used in tradicional Chinese medicine for its antimycotic, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activities since antiquity. Regarding to possibility quaternary benzo[c]fenanthridine alkaloids to induce apoptosis these investigated such as possible agents for cancer treatment. The quaternary benzo[c]fenanthridine alkaloids interact with DNA and proteins. They are able to intercalate to the DNA. The alkaloids can be used like fluorescence DNA probe. Metabolism by sanguinarine and next quaternary benzo[c]fenanthridine alkaloids has not yet completely determinated. The first step sanguinarine detoxication is its conversion to less toxic dihydrosanguinarine. Sanguinarine oxidation is mediated by cytochrome P450 1A1. Key words: Quaternary benzo[c]fenanthridine alkaloids, sanguinarine, apoptosis, intercalate, heterogenous substances, enzymes, cytochrom P450
