The Use of the spatial data examining methods for definition of rural areas
KROHOVÁ, Zuzana
The aim of this thesis is technical evaluation of existing approaches to defining rural areas in our country, in Europe and in the world. The main result of the work will be a comprehensive proposal for a new definition of rural areas of the Czech Republic by means of spatial data analysis in a geographic information system. The main method of the spatial analysis will be the map algebra, using it to define a new criterion for rural areas. A new proposal for the definition of rural areas of the Czech Republic will be based on a combination of commonly used criterias for defining rural (population, population density, unemployment rate, etc.) along with their processing in GIS (spatial models, overlay operations, spatial statistics and others). The result of this work should serve to further evaluate the proposals and rural areas of sustainable development.

Real-Time Rendering of a Scene With Many Pedestrians
Pfudl, Václav ; Milet, Tomáš (referee) ; Herout, Adam (advisor)
The aim of this thesis was to implement a software that would be able to render, simulate and record a scene with walking pedestrians in real-time, with emphasis on rendering level of realism. The output of the application could serve as an input test data for people counting systems or similar systems for video recognition. The problem was divided into three major subproblems: character animation, artificial intelligence for character movement and advanced rendering techniques. The character animation problem is solved by the skeletal animation of the model. To achieve the characters moving in a scene autonomously path finding(A* algorithm) and group behaviors(steering behaviors) were implemented. Realism in a scene is added by implemented methods such as normal-mapping, variance shadow-mapping, deffered rendering, skydome, lens flare effect and screen space ambient occlusion. Optimaliaztion of the rendering was implemented using octree data structure for space partitioning. Rendering stage of a scene can be easily parametrized through implemented GUI. Implemented application provides the user with easy way of setting a scene with walking pedestrians, setting its visualization and to record the result.

State Censorship of the Internet and the Methods of Circumvention
Kolář, Martin ; Doucek, Petr (advisor) ; Hološka, Jiří (referee)
This Master thesis deals with the subject of state censorship of the Internet. The objective of the thesis is to map the techniques of state censorship of the Internet and the methods of circumvention. In the first part, the author introduces organisations and projects that investigate state Internet censorship in the world. Subsequently, the author depicts inspection methods of communication and the Internet filtering techniques. The following part focuses on the principles of circumventing Internet censorship. It also describes various techniques of the circumvention of the censorship. Another objective of the thesis is to test the practical methods of circumventing Internet censorship. As a destination for the measurement the author has chosen PRC where he scrutinised the state of Internet censorship and tested the success rate of circumvention methods. The presented outputs serve as an overview of the techniques of the state censorship of the Internet and the methods of its circumvention, and can be used as a foundation for further work.

Podnikatelský plán: instantní přírodní superjídlo
Mazal, Jakub ; Lukeš, Martin (advisor) ; Procházka, David Anthony (referee)
The goal of the thesis is to develop a business plan for an instant natural food replacement operating on the Czech market, analyse the potential and feasibility of this business idea and calculate the financial estimates of the business. In the first part of the thesis, theoretical background on business planning is mapped with special focus on recent developments such as canvas business model, lean canvas and lean startup approach. This is followed by business plan structure which serves as a base for the practical part. Last topic of the theoretical part summarizes current trends in the food industry and especially market with functional food, dietary supplements, powdered food replacement, and anticipated future developments. The practical part of the thesis is constituted by the business plan for the startup selling natural powdered meal-replacement on the Czech market. The goal of this part is to verify the business model by conducting a customer survey, assess the market potential, develop the company strategy and analyse its feasibility based on the financial model for potential use by external stakeholders.

Raman optical activity and conformational flexibility of peptides in solution
Hudecová, Jana ; Baumruk, Vladimír (advisor)
Title: Raman optical activity and conformational flexibility of peptides in solution Author: Jana Hrudíková Department: Institute of Physics of Charles University Supervisor: Doc. RNDr. Vladimír Baumruk, DrSc. Supervisor's e-mail address: baumruk@karlov.mff.cuni.cz Abstract: Molecular flexibility can significantly modify Raman and ROA spectral intensities, band positions and the ROA signs. Taking into account dynamic aspects of behavior of studied molecules in solution via conformational averaging therefore seems to be crucial for spectral interpretation. The first of studied models, histidine, plays an important role in metallo-enzymatic reactions and peptide folding, due to its imidazole ring. ROA spectra of His at different pH, His complexed with Cu2+ and dipeptides His- Gly and Gly-His were recorded on the spectrometer built at the Institute of Physics of the Charles University as a first step of the subsequent study. The second studied system, a cyclic hexapeptide c-(Phe-D-Pro-Gly-Arg-Gly-Asp), serves as a convenient model for β- hairpin and anti-parallel β-sheet. It was previously studied by means of VCD and IR. From molecular dynamics simulations 10 peptide geometries were selected for spectral modeling. The Raman and ROA spectra were calculated ab initio. For a model fragment Phe-D-Pro, which...

The study of molecular and biochemical bases of cytochrome c oxidase deficiency
Veselá, Kateřina ; Zeman, Jiří (advisor) ; Farghali, Hassan (referee) ; Drahota, Zdeněk (referee)
This thesis has been worked out in The laboratory for study of mitochondrial disorders (Department of Pediatrics, 1st faculty of Medicine, Charles Univezity in Praha), which serves as the diagnostic center for patients from Czech and Slovak Republics. During the last years, more than 40 children with isolated COX deficiency were diagnosed in our lab. But molecular background except 12 patients with mutations in SURF1 gene was remaining unknown. Due to the lack of adequate treatment for these patients, the genetic counseling and the possibility of prenatal diagnostics have high importance for the families. The possible dual origin of the defect with different hereditary aspects makes the genetic counseling in the affected families complicated and prenatal diagnostics based only on biochemical analyses very problematical if even possible. This work had been arisen basically from the necessity to find the molecular background of isolated COX deficiency in our patients. In addition of simple characterization of molecular background and optimalization of methods for routine diagnostics, we were able to study the impact of several mutations in nuclear genes for COX assembly factors on the biochemical, structural and histochemical level in affected tissues.

The Babtism on the Background of Liturgic Reforms of the 16th and 20th Century.
Pekárek, František ; Holeton, David Ralph (advisor) ; Hradílek, Pavel (referee) ; Kolář, Pavel (referee)
The work Liturgical Reforms and Renewal concerning baptism in the 16th and 20th century explores relationship between liturgical reforms of baptismal rites in the 16th century and contemporary liturgical movement. The main theme of the work is the transformation of Christian initiation at the end of 20th and its relation to the reforms of baptismal rites in the reformation period. The first part of the work describes reforms of Lutheran and Anglican baptismal rites. There are two main sources used for comparison: Luther's Taufbüchleins and first two editions of the Book of Common Prayer. The second part of the work is dedicated to contemporary efforts to renew baptismal rites. The rites of Canadian Anglicans and Lutherans serve as prototypes. The investigation of baptismal rites is preceded by the theological examination of any performed changes. The conclusion of the work transcends its aim when it shows the problems of renewal in wider context. It provides with the typology of the opponents of liturgical movement and tries to bring deeper insight into historical connections which form their attitudes. In the conclusion, we can find author's perspective on the contribution of renewal in baptismal theology and liturgy for the broadest ecumena. This work came into being at the Institute of Ecumenical Studies...
