The location is situated in the area along the Svitava river, regulated for economic reasons at the turn of the 20th century. As the values are evolving, it is nowadays highly desirable to live by the river while having the view of the still flowing water. The aim of the thesis is to increase the attractiveness of today's inhospitable place and to offer the inhabitants a pleasant environment for living since no matter how superb the house is, the lack of a fine environment lowers its value. The proposal is based on the use of platforms as an ideal means of defining the hierarchy of spaces.
Place Identity A Case Study of The Solidarita Housing Estate

The master thesis deals with the study of the relation between man and his surroundings. The thesis solves the issue of the place identity and the process of identification with the example of the Prague housing estate Solidarita. It analyses the surroundings from the perspective of a concept of identity which has a multidimensional character. For this reason, the case study approach has been chosen to allow a comprehensive study of space from a variety of perspectives. It deals with the history of the housing estate, its residents, social connections and the perception of space. Because of the presence of green vegetation and public facilities, the Solidarita housing estate is presented as a place which provides a high-quality space and supports the production of social interactions. Surrounding of Solidarita housing estate respects human scale and provides stronger social interactions. The thesis also accents the importance of sociological and anthropological research of a space, that should be a part of urban processes. Reflection on Neighbourhood Evolution at a Pre-Fabricated Panel Building Area

The master's thesis, framed as a sociological case study, aims it's interest at the theme of neighborhood evolution at a pre-fabricated panel building area. The subject of interest is the reflection of neighborhood evolution given by the original residents of the research locality. The research locality is represented by the most populated street in Hradec Králové, Edvarda Beneše boulevard, which drew considerable attention both of lay and academic public at the time of it's emergence due to unique architectonic and urbanistic design. The defined research problem is the question asking about current state and underwent changes of a neighborhood situated at specific environment of a block-of- flats area located in a contemporary city, specifically in the most populated area of Hradec Králové statutory city. Also three separate research questions were formulated. They ask specifically about the current state of the neighborhood, it's underwent changes during time and the role of it's physical a geographical situatedness. The aim of the thesis was to perform complex exploration of current state and evolution of the studied phenomenon, both in social and physical dimension. The thesis doesn't provide description of the current state and evolution only, but it also identifies local relevant factors...
The Influence of Architectural Environment on the Creation of Neighborhood

In order to better understanding of influnce of architectural environment on building neighborhood community and close relationships within neighborhood is this bachelor thesis concerned on architectural influence of specific neighborhood in Prague Na Hřebenkách. Not only architectural aspects of residents of this community are examined by the case study which consists of surveys and semistructured interviews. Results of the empirical part reveal that architectural environment was latent determinant in the development of this community. Other aspects like joint building of location and homogeneity of community have greater impact on interpersonal relationships within neighborhood
Neighborhood phenomenon in a housing estate - case study Cerny Most

The focus of this master thesis is on the phenomenon of neighborhood and social relations between residents of the housing estate Cerny Most. The main objective of this thesis is to determinate, what social relations and interactions are between residents of Cerny Most and how different are these relations and interactions between established residents and newcomers. The research is a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches. The quantitative part is based on a survey, which is focused on determinates of neighborhood, for example the residential stability, the resident´s connection to Cerny Most and spending of free time in the locality depending on location of residence and length of staying in the location. Research is also focused on neighborly relations and social interactions between residents of Cerny Most, but also between established residents and newcomers. Research deals with the satisfaction in the place of residence, quality of neighborly relations, purposeful meeting of neighbors and involvement in the community life. The qualitative part is consist of field research, own photographs of the area and semistructured interviews which help to better understanding to detected areas. From the survey results, statistic calculations and semistructured interviews is compile the plastic image of neighborly relations and interactions between the residents of Cerny Most.

Work shows a possible strategy to deal with the mass housing estates in the Czech Republic. That static and monotonous settlement can be flexible structure. Strategy shows one approach to transforming the settlement structure. It is a return to traditional town morphology and thereby achieve urban character and utilization of housing benefits that this structure offers. The settlement becomes readable by adding city-forming element such as streets, squares and city blocks.
