Estimation of Cognitive Plasticity in Old Adults Using FIE

5 Abstract The work deals with the development of cognitive skills by the method of the Feuerstein Instrumental enrichment for seniors in a residential care. It should clarify whether the Instrumental Enrichment Program is practicable when working with seniors and how it will affect the development of cognitive abilities of these people. The theoretical part deals with the period of the old age, the cognitive specific of seniors, the contemporary views on the brain functioning, and especially with the Instrumental Enrichment Program.The practical part includes the results of the qualitative research. The main method of data collection was a " dynamic assessment " of the cognitive test and the case studies. The qualitative results evaluation of the Addenbrooke cognitive test showed the improvement in the solution methods almost in all levels ( input , elaboration and output) . The results of the study showed that the Instrumental Enrichment Program is very suitable for the seniors. Its use is meaningful not only for clients with mild cognitive insult but it is also very effective for the people with more severe degrees of dementia.
Residental Social Services for Seniors in Valašskomeziříčsko

The name of this Bachelor thesis is Residential social services for seniors in Valašskomeziříčsko. It introduces residential social services for seniors in the region and attempts at evaluating their current situation. It presents their main problems. The thesis is divided into seven main chapters. The beginning of the thesis is devoted to old age and aging. The introduction of these concepts is there. It describes basic human needs and problems associated with old age. The middle of the thesis is concentrated on social work with seniors. Its specificity and description of responsibilities of a social worker in a residential social service for elderly people are performed there. Next part of the thesis names social services which are provided to these people. The following section focuses on region of Valašskomeziříčsko, on its characteristics, community planning of social services in Valašské Meziříčí and local social services for seniors. Spiritual needs of clients of the Charity home

Abstract: The bachelor's thesis deals with the problems of spiritual needs of the religious sister living in the Charity home. The research was done in the form of an anonym questionnaire and a structured dialog. 59 respondents aged 72-97 were asked. They were divided into three groups: religious sisters living in the Charity home (28), religious sisters living in the convent (15), and senior-women living in the old people's home (16). The research confirmed the importance of spiritual needs in the sphere of practicing the faith for the religious sisters. Compared with the senior-women the religious sisters showed themselves to be more satisfied with the fulfillment of these needs.

So we choosed this interdisciplinarity as the theme of our thesis. The aim of this work was to analyze it from the point of view of sociology, economics, and philosophy. Each of the disciplines was then discussed in one chapter, accompanied by research, in the fourth chapter. We see the contribution of work in diffusion of horizons of older and younger generations, specifically in the notification of the terme "ageism", form of discrimination of senior.

It explains the term communication and the specifcs of how to communicate with the senior population and also points out the specifics and the demanding character of a nurse's work in old people homes and residential social institutions. A stand of the students of the Third Age University at Charles University on their oldness

The thesis is focused on the attitudes of students of the University of the Third Age to their own old age. The definition of the theoretical context in the first part focuses on the issues of aging and old age in connection with identifying the quality of life of seniors. This section is also focused on the topic Universities of the Third Age, their historical context in the current form. In the research part the results of the survey have been presented. To achieve the research objective, a quantitative research strategy, a method of questioning, was used. Specifically, a standardized questionnaire of attitudes to age and aging (AAQ) was used, which was developed by the World Health Organization. The main aim of this thesis was to determine the attitudes of students of the University of the Third Age at the Charles University to their own old age and then to compare these attitudes with a group of inactive seniors. Another subject of the research was also the influence of the social-demographic indicators on the attitudes of seniors to age and motivation of the undergraduates to study at the University of the Third Age.
