Television Newscasts as a Communication Situation

The TV news service is a communication situation with many specifics. This study is trying to analyse four main components of communication - the productor, the recipient, the code and the message. It based on the analysing of the TV news services of three Czech TV channels in four days (March, the 28 th. - April, the 1 st.). There are a few subjects (journalist, editor's office, medium, advertiser, politicians, state system), which actively participate in a production of the TV news. Each of them has a special communication intention, which is not transparent to the recipient. The main intention of medium is to offer the programme, which would be recieved by most recipients. This approach changes the quality of the TV news. It is based on principles of infortainment. Meaning of the message is created by the coexistention of the view and the spoken language. It is not possible to choose and present events objectively. Journalists have many ways to supplement their commentary to a the TV news. The recipient is a mass, which has it's own specifics. Cross-Border Contagion: An Empirical Analysis of the Current Financial Crisis in Central and Eastern Europe

The objective of this thesis is to examine cross-border contagion effects during the 2007-09 crisis in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and from all the possible propagation channels, it chooses to focus on cross-border bank loans. It tries to discover which global and local factors had significant influence on the changes in bank loans from banks in source (lending) countries to banks, as well as households, corporations and government in host (borrowing) countries. The main research method is a panel data regression model. The empirical results suggest that both local and global factors had influence on the changes in cross-border loans, i.e. helped to spread the 2007-09 crisis to CEE. The significant local factors were macroeconomic and financial characteristics of both source and host countries, such as their GDP growth differential, interest rate differential, FDI, or profitability and health of the banking sector. The significant global factors were the expected market volatility and investors' risk appetite/aversion which was an indicator of "pure" contagion. The main contribution of this thesis lies in its focus on CEE and the analysis of investors' behavior based on their changing risk appetite.

Programme Diversity in Czech Televisions between 1998 and 2006

The present thesis entitled "Programme Diversity of Czech Nationwide Television Channels in the Years 1998 - 2006" focuses on the normative requirement of the society regarding the diversity of mass media, and the approach of mass media thereto: we distinguish between media diversity introduced in the market media model and the diversity presented as part of the public sphere media model. Furthermore, this thesis attempts to search for and determine the requirements regarding media diversity as laid down in the applicable legislation of the Czech Republic or the European Union. The research part of the thesis deals with one of the many levels of diversity in the mass media environment, particularly the diversity of television programme types, i.e. television genres accepted by the interest groups: academics, broadcasters or audiences etc. The present analysis includes nationwide TV stations providing analogue broadcasting via terrestrial transmitters in the years 1998 to 2006, focusing on majority audience - Czech TV1, Prima TV and TV Nova. User-generated content and its use in digital news media Abstract This thesis deals with increasing activity of Internet users who intensively create, publish and spread their own content. Huge part of this content is related to news and interferes in the traditional field of mass media organizations, which have to put up with newly established situation. The theoretical part of text describes the development of network media and strives for ground active user participation into media discourse and historical context. Therewithal, this part introduces kinds of user-created contents, defines their characteristics and analyzes these users who are called "prosumers" or "produsers" in the Web 2.0 era. The attention is also focused on user-generated content used by news websites and citizen journalism. The second part analyzes how the foremost world news media use and benefit from user-generated content. Examined media are iReport CNN, uReport Fox News, Have Your Say BBC and France 24. The text also analyzes Czech news media, especially ČT24 news channel and main Czech news websites and offers comparison with world media. Both parts of the thesis focus on web and television news service.

Effect of peritoneal dialysis on everyday activities of people

The Paper investigates the effects that peritoneal dialysis may have on everyday lives of patients. Clients suffering the chronic renal failure multiply, and the peritoneal dialysis is the first option in line to treat the condition. Since the numbers of clients treated by peritoneal dialysis grow, nurses meet such people increasingly also outside the Dialysis Centers. The method heavily relies on nursing care. Peritoneal dialysis is a treatment intended to do the duty of kidneys instead of kidneys. It works on the principle of swapping substances between the blood and the dialyzing solution through the patient's own peritoneum. The technique of peritoneal dialysis works for patients of all ages. The clients opt for this procedure appreciating its minimal requirements for technical skills, the possibility of home treatment, and the avoidance of commuting and the stress of frequent visits to health-care facilities. The method makes the patients feel more independent, self-reliant, and gives them elbowroom for adjustments to their daily blood-cleaning schedule and other activities. The "cure" itself is applied by the clients, and the clients have to demonstrate a degree of responsibility. The Paper was to make an inquiry into the issues of peritoneal dialysis. It should communicate the main information on peritoneal dialysis to nurses, and help the clients make a decision on the method of treatment.

Regional Languages and Dialects in France

Le but de ce mémoire de diplôme est de présenter la diversité linguistique de la France. Le mémoire offre le tableau des langues régionales et dialectes qui sont parlés sur le territoire de la France et leurs racines sont historiquement attachées avec la France métropolitaine. Le mémoire touche aussi les langues non-territorialisées qui ont été apportées en France par les immigrés, notamment ceux des anciennes colonies françaises en Afrique du Nord. On doit rappeler également les langues vernaculaires des territoires français du Pacifique (TOM) et les créoles des départements français d'outre-mer (DOM). Il s'agit principalement des langues polynésiennes, notamment les langues kanakes, puis des créoles parlés en Guyane, en Guadeloupe, en Martinique et l'île de la Réunion. Contrairement aux certaines langues régionales de la Métropole, les langues autochtones sont généralement demeurées trs vivantes, l'exception de quelques-uns d'entre elles parlées en Nouvelle-Calédonie. Le mémoire de diplôme pareillement porte sur le développement historique des langues sur le territoire de la France et donne une courte description de la dialectologie, son sujet d'étude et ses représentants principaux.

New aspects of the cell submembrane signaling

This dissertation contributes to elucidation of some mechanisms of the mammalian cell submembrane signaling. Major part of the research was conducted on mast cells and basophils activated via the high affinity IgE receptor, FcεRI, or via the cell surface glycoprotein Thy-1. New roles of actin cytoskeleton in mast cell signaling via FcεRI and Thy-1 are described. Discovery of new transmembrane adaptor protein non-T cell activation linker, NTAL, short time before the initiation of work on the thesis led to the increased attention paid to this protein. Dramatic changes of signaling in mast cells deficient in NTAL, or with up- or down-regulated expression of this protein are described. NTAL was also found to be one of proteins phosphorylated following the Thy-1 aggregation. Spatiotemporal distribution of surface glycoprotein Thy-1 at different levels of resolution and some biochemical properties of cells activated via Thy-1 are depicted. Screen for nonreceptor hitherto unknown protein tyrosine phosphatases in mast cells and basophils was conducted and initial analysis of spatiotemporal distribution and function of phosphatase PTP20 in mast cell signaling was performed. We are determining our goals of this dissertation m according with available literature. For the practical part of dissertation we used standard motorical test named UNIFITTEST 6-60. This dissertation dealt with observing of physical development and measurement of motional peďormance pupils of classes 6 and 7 (13-14 years) from Elementary school U Stadionu of city Most. 1 1 Motional peďormance was measured with four chosen motional tests (long two-footed standing jump, sit-ups for 60 seconds, Leger test). Results of our research were compared with Unifittest 6-60 (Chytráčková a kol. 2002) and Rychtecký a kol (2006) and confronted with our working hypothesses. Reglementace u nás v 19. a na po átku 20. století nebyla nijak zvláš úsp šná, viz její studie v ásti tvrté. Ideální úprava prostituce ovšem neexistuje, resp. dosud nebyla "vynalezena". Zkušenosti s abolicí ukázaly, že tento systém neumož uje prostituci nijak pozitivn regulovat. Skute nost je pak úpln v rozporu s tím co je v zákon , resp. je jiná, než by m la podle zákona být. Tak podle aboli ního zákona jsou sice nev stince zrušeny, ale nap íklad v našem hlavním m st je jich možné vid t bezpo et. Skrývají se za eufemistické názvy jako nap íklad erotické salony, nebo nightcluby, apod. Prostitutky samy se ozna ují za "erosenky". Stávající právní úprava je odrazem pokrytectví, se kterým se k tomuto problému po desítky let p istupuje. Abolice naprosto selhává i v boji proti pohlavním nemocem, sv d í o tom mimo jiné statistiky, které uvádím v p íloze. Znovuzavedení reglementace bude úsp šné, jen pokud se orgány ve ejné moci pou í z chyb a omyl , které p i aplikaci tohoto systému vznikaly. Concept and realization of information centre The Honourable Remembrance Memorial

Předmětem diplomové práce je přiblížení průběhu počátečního projektu a analýza informačního centra Památník Čestná vzpomínka, které obsahuje selekčně uspořádané informace o historii československých legií (1914- 1920) a jmennou databázi padlých a zemřelých čs. legionářů. Na základě trendu uchovávání historického a kulturního dědictví (který je dnes celosvětovým trendem v oblasti kultury, historie a informačních studií), do něhož je zapojen mimo jiných i Ústav informačních studií a knihovnictví Univerzity Karlovy v Praze, je cílem vzniku a existence tohoto informačního centra trvalé uchování informací k této kapitole našich dějin a těch, kteří ji tvořili. K tomuto cíli informační centrum využívá přímo celosvětové sítě internet pro maximalizaci přístupnosti k těmto informacím.
