Czech non-governmental organisations and EU climate change policy

The thesis aims to analyse the relations of non-governmental organisations towards the European integration process, which creates an additional platform for their interest representation. This case study focuses on how Czech non-profit organisations, which are dealing in long term with the topic of climate change, try to use the instruments and channels available at the EU level to promote their idea of the 2030 Climate and Energy Framework targets and how the EU climate action policy translates to their understanding of the topic. The thesis is based on the Europeanization theory that assumes that non-state actors are adjusting their behaviour to the existence of another platform of decision making and interest representation. I, therefore, assume, that the selected sample of Czech ecological NGOs tries to actively use the opportunity to participate in the EU decision making - especially because a climate policy is decided mostly at the EU level and therefore the outcomes, such as the 2030 Framework, present another tool to achieve change in the climate policy of the Czech Republic. The master’s thesis pursues the burning social issue of gaining energy sources for it to be provided and exploited effectively, efficiently, technically correct and economical, being up to the legal measures and human environment at the same time. Agrorobot, inc. was used as an example to draw the comparison between the current heavy appliances and the enhanced one, the co-generative unit, and the calculation requisite for the manufacturer – innovator and for the customer – investor.

The Gates. Environmental Creation in the Landscape.

The submitted work deals with the topic of the gate. The theoretical part analyses this structural and cultural feature, particularly from its architectural point of view, and focuses on the origin of gateway, its evolution throughout the centuries, and on the description of the best known and most famous gates, both throughout the world and in the Czech Republic. In the thesis, the gate is characterised as a symbol with different meanings in various cultural contexts. The implementation of the author´s photographic project entitled ?The Gates to the Past? is further presented in the practical part of the work. The text also describes a brief essay on the relation of aesthetic education to the environmental artistic works and develops its potential for educational goals emphasizing humanistic objectives.

The Ethical problems of environmentalistic conception of man

This piece of work is concerned with the ethical issues of the new social phenome-non which is environmentalism considered to be. In the introductory part there is a summary done about the elemental ways how to look at the human being and it is fur-thermore compared with the environmentalistic point of view. On that is looked from many different perspectives ? scientific, political and religious one. These perspectives confirmed the direct and visible application of the environmentalistic thoughts within current society at first in the theoretical level and then within the next part of this work also in the practical level. Under the terms of the quantitative research in the field of the social work the three set theories have also been confirmed. Direct links between the environmentalistic influence, social work and the application the environmentalistic ideas to the direct work with the clients were confirmed.

Environmentalism in Czech Philosophy of 20th century

This thesis focuses on the role of the Czech philosophy in the 20th century and the way it affected the formation of an environmental approach. It unveils the mutual connections betweens the natural sciences and philosophy and highlights the importance of a close link between various ideas about man and the world. An analysis of the content of selected books by Erazim Kohák and Josef Šmajs emphasizes the existential threat arising from a critical relationship between man and the world at large. Finally, it reminds of the change in the scale of human values as well as the need for man to redefine his position in the world today.

THE PERSPEKTIVES OF CLAIMING THE HEMP IN THE CZECH MARKETPLACE

The thesis deals with hemp (Cannabis sativa) and its utilization in many different branches of industry, food processing industry and other spheres of human existence. It results from many reasons: lead the human activities to respect his environment, to change the way of human activities, life style and thinking in relation with environment. I try to show the way, how to keep living standard without negative impacts. It means not to limit surroundings and not to harm environment. This is the way, how to live economically and ecologically. Production works on assumption of interests of consumers. For that reason I investigate possibilities and perspectives of use of products from technical hemp in Czech market. Also I investigate the technological, economical, political and societal view. Marketing study of interest in products of technical hemp shows, that there is serious interest of respondents in these products. In the future it is necessary to deal with initiate problems mainly from the view of consumers, study the market branches and each individual hemp commodities. In the first instance it is necessary to press technical hemp as the useful and multilaterally effective plant. We can{\crq}t do that only because of trading profits, which are not so attractive. We have to do that, because we know we support the good thing. Really, it is not important, if we will do it, but when we will start with it. I would like to point out, that there is not only welfare of individuals, but also welfare of the whole society. Still the fundamental is to respect all living creatures as well as to all things.

Climate changes - a view of conservatism and environmentalism

The topic of this thesis is the issue of global warming in terms of political ideology - conservatism and environmentalism.. For comparison, I chose two representatives - Vaclav Klaus and Al Gore. The aim of this work is to compare ideologically conditioned responses and their political implications. This is illustrated by the example of two personalities of world politics representing both different attitudes toward the issue of global warming and climate change and different ideologies - Václav Klaus and Al Gore. The work is methodologically based on an analysis of ideology of conservatism and environmentalism and on an analysis of empirical knowledge regarding global warming.
