Study of roundabout in front of the main entrance Trade Fairs Brno
Kopuletá, Jitka ; Šamánková, Zdeňka (referee) ; Pavlíček, Jan (advisor)
The topic of my master´s thesis is the reconstruction of the intersection „Semilasso“ in Brno, Královo Pole. I´m designing a signalized transversal intersection of streets Palackého třída, Kosmova and Riegrova, which is a signifiant transfer junction of public transport. Altogether, there stop two tramlines, one trolleybus line and nine bus lines. The project merges the tram stops, directs the movement of pedestrians and lowers the intensity of car transportation heading to the city centre.

Specification of the movement of sediments in the selected section of the flow in the vicinity of the polder Žichlínek
Kaizar, Jan ; Půža, Pavel (referee) ; Veselý, Jaroslav (advisor)
The bachelor thesis defines sediment transport in selected section of Moravská Sázava river, and Ostrovský potok stream in the area of Žichlínek detention basin. The first part of the thesis focuses on documentation of the current situation of the selected area. Following part deals with granulometric analysis of taken samples and their assessment. Next part is dedicated to calculation of the amount of the sediment, and suspended solids in the studied watercourses. The final part of the thesis describes as the sediment transport impacts on both the stream bed clogging, and the passage of a flood wave through the area.

Structure discontinuity in the RTX hexagonal materials
Rusňák, Martin ; Prchal, Jiří (advisor) ; Javorský, Pavel (referee)
As it was discovered earlier the crystal lattice of ternary hexagonal RTX compounds exhibits a criticality for specific values of the ratio of the lattice parameters c/a around the interval of 0.565 - 0.575. To explore this effect in more detail, we have prepared polycrystalline samples of Ce1-xYxPdAl and SmPdAl and monocrystalline SmPdAl, SmNiAl. In case of Ce1-xYxPdAl series the forbidden range of c/a values was found to evolve with composition and temperature. Structural transformation is temperature independent in these compounds. SmPdAl compound is single-phased in the whole temperature range even though the c/a ratio crosses the gap of forbidden values common for other compounds. However a criticality in evolution of c/a is present at temperature 500 K. Anomaly visible on magnetic and transport properties, which is connected with change of structure, was found at approximately the same temperature. Explanation based on enhanced thermal movement of the atoms is proposed. Besides, also magnetic measurements at low temperatures were performed. The magnetic ordering temperature Tc = 15.3 K and dominant antiferromagnetic order was found. Monocrystalline SmNiAl exhibits very similar behaviour to the SmPdAl.

The City instead of the Factory
Págo, Tomáš ; Sátora, Josef (referee) ; Kopáčik, Gabriel (advisor)
My suggestion is trying to return to the receptive urban spaces, pedestrian trying to return to center stage, allowing them free movement and return them to healthy urban public spaces. But it also does not deny the need for transport, restrict it, but based on her wishes.

Editing roundabout Hviezdoslavova x Bedrichovicka
Klusková, Jana ; Pančík, Vladimír (referee) ; Smělý, Martin (advisor)
The aim of this Bachelor's thesis is solution of the problem of the roundabout that connects road II/430 Hviezdoslavova and the road III/715283 Bedřichovická in city district Brno Slatina. It is about single lane roundabout. The crossroad is situated on the edge of the city and the main problem is satisfactory capacity of it. This problem is linked to the movement of the vehicles leaving the city in the afternoon hours and arriving the city in the morning hours and also with transit transport across the roundabout. The aim is to design new geometry of the roundabout to increase its capacity and also increase the fluidity and efficiency of the passage of vehicles through the intersection with emphasis on the safety of vehicles and pedestrians . The work also includes solutions for pedestrians through the intersection and the draft modifications sidewalks, barrier adaptations of pedestrian crosswalks , points for crossing and adjust the bus stops.

Application of nuclear techniques in two-phase liquid-solid particles hydrotransport investigations
Zych, M. ; Hanus, R. ; Vlasák, Pavel ; Petryka, L. ; Jaszczur, M.
The paper presents gamma application to two-phase flow investigation in a vertical pipeline, where the flow of solid particles transported by water was examined by use of both: radiotracers and famma-absorption method. The simultaneous use of two methods allows analyzing of important parameters of solid particles hydrotransport. In the described experiments as solid phase the ceramic models representing natural polymetallic ocean nodules were used. Radiotracers allow to track the movements of selected models, representing specified grain size and the designation of its velocity. However gamma-absorption method enables measurement of average solid-phase velocity. For analysis of electrical signal obtained from scintillation detectors the cross-correlation method has been applied.

Transition from the saltation mode of bed load transport to the rolling mode
Lukerchenko, Nikolay ; Ivanova, Irina ; Chára, Zdeněk ; Vlasák, Pavel
The paper deals with the sediment transport of sand particles conveyed by water in an open channel. A 3D numerical model developed by the authors was used for simulation of the sand particles movement in the channel with rough bed. Similarly to Shields theory of sediment transport incipient motion of the bed load particles the shear stress for the transition process from saltation mode to rolling mode can be defined. The shear stress value can be determined as a function of two dimensionless parameters, particle parameter and equivalent bed roughness. The particle parameter is a function of the particle size and density, and the carrier liquid density and viscosity. The presented numerical solution reveals that the shear stress for the transition process from saltation mode to rolling mode is less than the shear stress for the incipient sediment motion and depends on channel bed roughness.

Numerical study of the fluid motion and mixing processes in the vitreous cavity
Pavlů, Karel ; Čermák, Libor (referee) ; Repetto, Rodolfo (advisor)
The vitreous cavity, the largest chamber of the eye, is delimited anteriorly by the lens and posteriorly by the retina and is filled by the vitreous humour. Under normal conditions the vitreous humour has the consistency of a gel, however, typically, with advancing age a disintegration of the gel structure occurs, leading to a vitreous liquefaction. Moreover, after a surgical procedure called vitrectomy the vitreous body may be completely removed and replaced by tamponade fluids. Besides allowing the establishment of an unhindered path of light from the lens to the retina, the vitreous also has important mechanical functions. In particular, it has the role of supporting the retina in contact to the outer layers of the eye, and of acting as a diffusion barrier for molecule transport between the anterior and the posterior segments of the eye. Studying the dynamics of the vitreous induced by eye rotations (saccadic movements) is important in connection of both the above aspects. On the one hand indications exist that the shear stress exerted by the vitreous on the retina may be connected with the occurrence of retinal detachment. On the other hand, if the vitreous motion is intense enough (a situation occurring either when the vitreous is liqueed or when it has been replaced with a uid after vitrectomy), advective transport may be by far more important than diffusion and may have complex characteristics. Advection has indeed been shown to play an important role in the transport phenomena within the vitreous cavity, but, so far, only advection due to the slow overall fluid ux from the anterior to the posterior segments of the eye has been accounted for, while fluid motion due to eye rotations, even if it is generally believed to play an important role, has been invariably disregarded. Some recent contributions have pointed out the importance of accounting for the real vitreous cavity shape in studying uid motion induced by eye rotations. Modelling the vitreous cavity as a deformed sphere, showed that the flow field displays very complex three- dimensional characteristics to which effective fluid mixing is likely to be associated. The purpose of the thesis is to model numerically the motion of the liqueed vitreous within the vitreous cavity induced by different eye movements. Create the model in the Comsol interface, compare the results with theoretical, experimental measurements and do some ow visualizations. Finally show the dependence of the streaming intensity from the amplitude of rotations and the Womersley number .
