Specifics of nursing care for elderly pacients after orthopedic surgery at the ICU in the faculty hospital Na Bulovce
ŠVECOVÁ, Markéta
Seniors are the group of patients most frequently occurring at the workplace of the author of this thesis, the ICU department of the Orthopaedic Clinic of Bulovka Faculty Hospital. Nursing care of seniors has its specifics mostly resulting from higher demands of aging organism. Despite the intensive efforts to provide the largest group of patients with quality care made at the workplace there is always something to improve. The main goal of the thesis thus was to find an answer to the question what could be improved on the quality of nursing care of patients after an orthopaedic intervention. Qualitative research in the form of a non-standardized interview was applied to collection of the necessary information on the present state of the issue. The research was conducted at the Orthopaedic Clinic of Bulovka Faculty Hospital. The research sample consisted of nurses working at the department and senior patients hospitalized there after orthopaedic interventions. There are several conclusions resulting definitely from the research. The nurses are sufficiently informed on the issues of nursing care of seniors after orthopaedic interventions and have sufficient possibilities of providing quality care. The factors negatively affecting the care being provided particularly involve obsolete technical background of the ICU and unsatisfactory constructional arrangement of the theatre. The solution of the problems is however closely linked to the lack of funds. As for staffing there is a problem of a large number of insufficiently qualified nurses compared to those meeting the qualification requirements. The conclusion of the research has provided an answer to the question what the spheres of improvement of the quality of nursing care of patients after an orthopaedic intervention were. According to the conclusions of the interviews with nurses and patients these are particularly better information of patients and investment in gradual improvement of material and technical base of the ICU, which would provide the patients with sufficient privacy, and make their exacting stay at the ICU easier. The problems of patient information might be solved by distribution of informational brochures defining patient?s rights and obligations, including the basic data of the department regime and instructions where to find answers to frequent questions. Exponential function and Mayer expansion
Nagy, Oliver ; Zahradník, Miloš (advisor) ; Loebl, Martin (referee)
Title: Exponential function and Mayer expansion Author: Oliver Nagy Department: Department of Mathematical Analysis Supervisor: doc. RNDr. Miloš Zahradník, CSc., Department of Mathematical Analysis Abstract: The unifying topic of this thesis is cluster expansion in statistical phy- sics. It is divided into three chapters. In the first one we present the necessary mathematical apparatus - selected topics from combinatorics, graph theory and theory of generating functions. The second one is an introduction to cluster expan- sion and abstract polymer model. Finally, in the third chapter we show a new resummation method for partition function of hard-core repulsive abstract poly- mer model. In this resummation we make use of cancellations of terms in partition function to rewrite the sum of clusters to a sum of quilted clusters, or alternati- vely as a sum of "bunches". The methods we use in this final chapter are original and may lead to some new results. Keywords: binomial and multinomial formula; power series; inclusion-exclusion principle; cluster expansion. iii

Ion-Protein Interactions
Heyda, Jan
Title: Ion-Protein Interactions Author: Mgr. et Mgr. Jan Heyda Department: Physical and Macromoleculer Chemistry Advisor: Prof. Pavel Jungwirth, DSc., IOCB AS CR, v.v.i. Advisor's e-mail address: pavel.jungwirth@uochb.cas.cz Abstract: Conventional molecular dynamics simulations in combination with ad- vanced methods of analyses were used to improve the understanding of the interac- tion between ions and proteins in salt solutions. Thus systems of diverse complexity and size were investigated, starting with simple (and molecular) salt solutions with small fragments that mimic the various functional groups of amino acids such as N-methylacetamide representing the peptide bond or alkylated ammonium cations. Continuing with individual positively charged amino acids (arginine, histidine, ly- sine) a strong binding interaction with small fluoride anion that is significantly weak- ened for larger halides (Cl− , Br− , I− ) was described. This observation was extended by detecting the strong sensitivity of fluoride to charge distribution on ammonium, lysine side chain, and the N-terminal of glycine while sensitivity of iodide was found to be low. Later it was shown that the attractive side chain-side chain interactions are significant for short positively charged peptide fragments in polyarginine and dihistidine, while...

Fifty-five strains of nonbasidiomycetous fungi were isolated from the L (litter) and H (humic) horizons of forest soil with dominant Quercus sp. Approx. 15% of isolates produce enzymes capable of phenols oxidation These enzymes can potentially be involved in the transformation of lignin and humic substances in soil

Social contacts of seniors above 70 years of age
BABORÁKOVÁ, Kateřina
In my Diploma Thesis, I focused on quality and quantity of the social contacts of elderly persons above 70 years of age. This Diploma Thesis is divided into two parts. Part one is a theoretical application of terms age and aging, demographical aging of the current population, age conditioned changes, needs of elderly, socio-psychological aspects of age, social substance of age and the important meaning of elderly life. And last but not least is elderly welfare and social security scheme. The second part is practical. Another target of my thesis is to ascertain elderly above 70 years of age suppositions to establish social contacts and relationships, and what are the contact?s quantity and quality in their surroundings and how are they satisfied with those contacts. I have compared results in three different environments in which the elderly live. To achieve set targets I chose qualitative research. This research had three sections: identification questions, questions in accordance with WHO DAS II scale and open questioning. Elemental company made a group of thirty elderly persons between 70 ? 85 years of age. I approached those seniors in their common environment, in a nursing home or home for the elderly. The research results showed that social contacts are fully dependent on family functionality and friendly contacts. A senior who has lost his or her life partner often loses even many social contacts. This fact may even contribute to social isolation, which significantly affects the individual's state of health. Elderly are also insufficiently informed about opportunities to establish social contacts. This fact also negatively affects their socialization.

Psychological violence and abuse of children in South Bohemia- current issue
HÁJKOVÁ, Michaela
Psychological violence, also called invisible, is one of the forms of a syndrome of ill-treated, abused and neglected child. It causes wounds that are not visible; this, however, does not mean that mental pain is less serious just because of its non-measurability. Psychological violence often includes abuse, threats, humiliation, isolation, denial of emotional response and, last but not least, no concern about child's health. Undoubtedly, the most tragic result of psychological violence is a child's suicide. The bachelor thesis deals with psychological violence against children and adolescents in South Bohemian Region. It depicts the factors of its origin such as family background, parents' education and addiction to addictive substances. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part is divided into eight sections. The goal of the thesis is defined at the beginning of the empirical part. The main goal has been to find out how much adolescents experience or have experienced psychological violence. The strategy of a quantitative research was used to collect the data and the method of questionnaire was selected. In addition, the research was complemented by the qualitative strategy and the method of questioning was selected. The results of the research have been compared with the opinions of other authors dealing with the issue in question in the discussion. The research suggests that every 8.5 child has become a victim of psychological violence during his/her adolescence. Further it is obvious that the family background affects occurrence of psychological violence against children; the occurrence of mentally abused children increases in incomplete families and stepfather families. Education of the abusing parents belongs among the significant results; parents with higher education abused their children more often than people with elementary education. The conducted research outlines the ratio of the adolescents who experience or have experienced psychological violence in South Bohemian Region.

Porovnání fluorescence přírodních humusových látek
Pořízková, Karla
Diploma thesis "Comparison of natural humic substances fluorescence" is aimed at identification of soil humic substances and natural humic substances using fluorescence spectroscopy. Results showed that fluorescence of humic acids isolated from lignite was similar to soil humic acids and was registered at longer wavelength. On the other hands lignohumate had higher fluorescence intensity at shorter wavelength. Fluorescence spectroscopy is a useful tool for identification of humic substances isolated from different sources.

Studium těkavých látek v pivovarských surovinách, v meziproduktech při výrobě piva a v pivu
Kleinová, Jana
Gas chromatography with mass spektrometry and gas chromatography with flame ionization detector were used for the determination of volatile compounds in raw material for beer production, in intermediate products and in beer. Isolation of compounds with low boiling point was optimized using purge and trap analysis, solid phase microextraction, liquid extraction, and static headspace. Solid phase microextraction was proved to be the most useful for determination of Maillard reaction products that are formed during kilning and roasting of malt, hop essential oils and volatile substances produced by fermentation. The ratio of hop essentials oils with lower boiling point (alfa-humulene, beta-farnesene and beta-caryophyllene) decrease during wort boiling. Maillard reaction products are formed during wort boiling, although the content of 3-methylbutanal and maltol is reduced by evaporation. Higher concentration of volatile substances contained top-fermented beer except 3-methyl-1-butanol. The Dudák Premium proved the best results of the analyzed bottled beers. The Stella Artois contained the lowest concentration of volatile compounds.

The significance of the S100B protein in patients with an injury to the central nervous system
Lavička, Pavel ; Choc, Milan (advisor) ; Náhlovský, Jiří (referee) ; Novák, Zdeněk (referee) ; Sameš, Martin (referee)
Inroduction: The S100B protein is a small dimeric protein which belongs to a group of calcium binding proteins. It is found in astroglial cells in the central nervous system (CNS). The S100B protein is detected, at very low concentrations, in fat tissue, muscle and bone marrow. We can measure this marker in the cerebrospinal fluid, in serum and in urine. The commercially available assay measures the sum of two different dimers (the S100A1B and S100BB) which collectively are called the S100B protein. The level of this marker increases significantly in patiens with CNS damage. Studies of patients with isolated head trauma have demostrated a correlation between serum marker level, neurological findings and outcome. In patients with polytrauma there is a problem to evaluating the initial S100B protein level with regards to CNS damage, because the S100B protein level can be affected by extracerebral sources of the S100B protein. Aim of study: The aim of our study was to evaluate the significance of the S100B protein in patiens with either isolated head trauma or polytrauma and to evaluate the significance of the initial level and the significance of dynamic monitoring of the S100B protein levels. The importace of these levels for predicting primary CNS damage, and for making a prognosis of such patiens...
