Design of a current data logger for LPWA sensors
Mikulášek, Michal ; Možný, Radek (referee) ; Štůsek, Martin (advisor)
This Master thesis deals with the design and construction of a measuring device for measuring and the current consumption logging of sensors using LPWAN (Low Power Wide Area Network) technology. The theoretical part of the thesis firstly summarizes selected LPWAN technologies. Selected technologies, namely: LoRaWAN, Sigfox and Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT), are described more in detail. Further, the current measurement techniques are briefly discussed. The main focus is given to the current shunt measuring methods. The second half of thesis describes procedures conducted during the design and construction of a measuring device. The current measuring is based on the current shunt circuit complemented by the voltage amplification circuit, whose output is subsquently converted into digital form using an AD converter. The thesis describes in great detail the procedures for selecting individual components and important processes used in design of printed circuit boards. An integral part of the measuring device implementation is the design and implementation of control software, which is described in detail and supplemented by workflow charts underlining the entire description. The implementation of the entire measuring device is completed by the design and implementation of the cover box using 3D printing technology. Finally, the specifications of designed device are briefly discussed based on the limits of the used components.
HVAC systems of hospital - Ecodesign 2018
Dokládalová, Tereza ; Jelínek, Ondřej (referee) ; Rubina, Aleš (advisor)
The subject of this diploma thesis is a review of legislation about ecodesign, the design of air conditioning systems for hospital departments and analysis of energy consumption of air conditioning systems designed before and after ecodesign 2018. The thesis is divided into three parts. The theoretical part deals with research of ecodesign legislation (especially EU Commission Regulation No. 1253/2014) and air conditioning in health care facilities. In the second part design of two air-conditioning systems serving the hospital's traumatology department was realized at the level of documentation for building permission. The third part contains calculations and assessments of expected consumption of electric and thermal energy, comparison of units before and after ecodesign and evaluation of annual operating costs.
Design of a heating system for an office building
Vítek, Lukáš ; Horká, Lucie (referee) ; Vyhlídalová, Karolína (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to design a proposal of space heating and water heating system for an administrative building in Ostrava. The building has four above-ground floors and an underground floor. In the underground floor are located technical building background, stocks and a parking. In the above-ground floors are administrative offices. The heating is solved as a water heating, with a distribution of the heat into the space using panel radiators and convectors. Water heating is solved by an accumulation heater. As a heating energy source serves a cascade gas boilers. We can find in the whole building a forced ventilation. The theoretical part of this thesis deals with the BIM technology.
Wireless Sensory Network Using LoRa Technology
Mikulášek, Michal ; Pokorný, Jiří (referee) ; Škorpil, Vladislav (advisor)
The bachelor thesis focuses in the first half on the Internet of Things and the available wireless technologies for the Internet of Things. Each technology is characterized by its features, pros and cons, as well as the possibilities of using it in the Internet of Things. In the second half of the thesis, a practical design and construction of a LoRa network, consisting of a sensory and a central unit, is carried out. The parts of the solution are designed wiring schemes, printed circuit boards and detailed photo documentation. Additionaly the software solutions for both types of units are described, with detailed descriptions of the proposed features. The maximum possible range is tested and documented for the entire solution. Subsequently, a detailed measurement of the power consumption of the sensor unit is carried out and an extensive estimation of its battery life for a selected battery.
Wireless IR Sensor for Area Invasion Detection
Suchý, Lukáš ; Kubíček, Michal (referee) ; Kolouch, Jaromír (advisor)
The target of this Bachelor thesis to design a security system for detection of the monitored space disruption, containing several battery powered sensors which are connected to central unit. From Bachelor thesis is evident, that for communication is to be used integrated circuit SI4432. Sensor detects motion in distance no less than 5 m and sends reports of the space disruption to central unit where this information will be processed. After that the user will be informed by the central unit. Sensor unit should be battery powered with lifetime in years. In conlusion, the system it tested in real work.
Identification of Battery-Hungry Parts of Android Application Code
Jankovič, Ivan ; Pop, Tomáš (advisor) ; Libič, Peter (referee)
In just forty years, the number of mobile devices has exceeded the number of humans on Earth. With the growing computational capacity, the power demands of these devices are growing rapidly as well. Due to technological and spatial constraints, the capacity of mobile power sources has become one of the most important bottlenecks of further development. Moreover, since the power efficiency is a relatively new requirement, there are only a few tools addressing it, and the existing ones have certain drawbacks. The goal of this thesis is to design and implement a tool helping developers of Android mobile applications to identify the battery-hungry parts of application code. The proposed solution is based on a novel approach - examination of power use estimations derived from the device's state together with the information about the code that is currently being executed. The prototype implementation has been tested on two Android applications with the conclusion that the proposed approach can provide useful information to the developer, but in practice, it encounters technical limitations reducing its accuracy, and thus it can not be used as a fully automated tool for identification of battery-hungry parts of Android application code.
Industrial evaporators for process water treatment
Cacková, Tereza ; Havlásek, Martin (referee) ; Vondra, Marek (advisor)
Bachelor thesis is focused on industrial process water evaporators. The basic principles of evaporation were described and various types of industrial water evaporators were introduced. The main part of the thesis was a thorough research and creation of a database of industrial water evaporators, which is also a probe into the current situation on the water evaporator and sewage sludge market. Part of the thesis is also comparing evaporators with other thickening technologies.
Environmental friendly forms of housing in the Czech Republic
Rezlerová, Kateřina ; Matějček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Bartoš, Jan (referee)
The bachelor thesis called " Environmental friendly forms of housing in the Czech Republic " focuses on the issues of environmentally friendly houses. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part deals with the environmentally friendly buildings in general. It explains the basic terms and describes the situation in the Czech Republic as well as contains the assessment of each of the Czech regions and their approach to the environment. The second part of the thesis is about the ecological build-up in Prague and the attitude of residents of the environmentally friendly districts of Horní Počernice and Dolní Měcholupy.
Overclocking of Modern Processors with an Emphasis on Performance, Power Consumption and Temperature
Kelečéni, Jakub ; Vaverka, Filip (referee) ; Nikl, Vojtěch (advisor)
This thesis analyzes the dependency of performance, power consumption and temperature on processor frequency. Theoretical part discusses the processor architecture, benchmarks and algorithm types. Experimental part is focused on  benchmarks - matrix multiplication, Quicksort, PI number calculation, Ackermann function, LAMMPS, PMBW, Linpack. This set of benchmarks includes both single-threaded and multi-threaded algorithms. Testing consist of three different settings of processor frequency. Multi-threaded benchmarks using different number of threads. Informations regarding the power consumption of CPU and RAM were recorded during these tests. Every test logs his running time. The impact of parallelization on power consumption and runtime is also reflected. Results from the tests are shown in charts and tables. The proper configuration of CPU for each given algorithm is analyzed in conclusion.
Wireless sensor network
Šťáva, Radek ; Šteffan, Pavel (referee) ; Pavlík, Michal (advisor)
The main theme of this work is to design and make a modern network of wireless sensors, when the main used circuit in the sensor module and the receiver module is microcontroller Texas Instruments CC430F513x. Care is taken primarily at very low power of sensor module for long battery life when on battery power. It is also emphasis is on reliability involvement of miniature size, expandability and high precision modules of basic sensors.
