The last part of the thesis consist of specific procedures, which serves to remove the internal limits of the company, respectively to achieve the identified potential.
The comparison of BI solutions on a SaaS base
Košata, Václav ; Novotný, Ota (advisor) ; Pour, Jan (referee)
The diploma thesis is focused on a specific way of distribution of Business Intelligence application on Software-as-a-Service base. A different concept opens a possibility for small and medium-size companies which cannot afford robust and expensive solution. The theoretical part provides an introduction with the basic characteristics of BI systems and cloud applications. Additionally, descriptions of the selected criteria are stated for a comparison of the specifics of applications delivered as a service. Integration, analytical and reporting functions Belladati, Zoho Reports and Bime are tested in a practical part of the thesis. The main chapter is devoted to solution product comparison, based on the selected criteria. The main asset of the work is to discover the strengths and weaknesses of each solutions found during the practical testing on the test data. The result of the comparison is not to find the best product, but to enhance the specific properties. The output can serve as a background material during cloud-based BI applications selection.
Implementation of BI in car sales and servicing
Gottwald, Karel ; Novotný, Ota (advisor) ; Maryška, Miloš (referee)
Diploma thesis focuses on topic of business performance management realized through Business Intelligence application created on the basis of a balanced set of indicators within the Balanced Scorecard method. The first part introduces the reader with theoretical foundations. First, it describes the basic principles of the BSC method and meaning of dividing strategic objectives into four perspectives. Subsequently, it introduces the heart of BI - a multidimensional approach, displays the BI architecture and defines its components. At the end it compares the types of database systems. There is also a comparison of this thesis with other projects dealing with similar themes in the theoretical part. After the theoretical chapters comes a practical part which aims at design and development of BI applications for a real company so as to comply with the requirements of top managers and the corporate strategy. At the beginning it introduces a firm to which the project is applied. This is an existing organization operating in the area of car sales and services. The corporation is called under a fictitious name "AUTO a.s." in this thesis. In cooperation with its managers the SWOT analysis and strategic objectives is defined. This determines the key requirements for setting up the BI application. An example of a BI solution that allows managers to effectively monitor the development objectives, brings the main benefit of the whole work. For this purpose is built data warehouse, which is then filled with transformed data from source systems using Data Pump. Then, above the Data Warehouse, two OLAP cubes can be created. Presentation layer, created in MS Excel 2007, handles the interpretation of the results to end-users.
Evaluation of information system with special concern in effectiveness
Pobuda, Petr ; Bruckner, Tomáš (advisor) ; Pergl, Robert (referee)
The goal of this thesis is to work up an overview about problematic relating to evaluation of use and effectiveness of IS/IT in organization. The accent in analyzing and evaluating is placed on soft metrics of IS/IT and its character. Author creates a task to specify and make clear why to evaluate IS/IT and which utility such evaluation brings. Other goal is to explain possible approaches of evaluating and the differences between them. The thesis is divided into two logical parts. First part contains theoretical base focused on soft metrics of measuring IS/IT. The second part is focused on describing practical measurement of IS/IT in organization. For full description of given area, author presents important aspects of public sector and significant law restrictions. This thesis presents one of the possible approaches to evaluate IS/IT in organization. Its benefit lies in connecting theoretical base with practical example, which author considers "best practice" in area of elaborated problematic.
Measurement and Analysis of the Project Portfolio as an Part Measuring IT Company´s productivity
Fišerová, Zuzana ; Stanovská, Iva (advisor) ; Konvička, Lukáš (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the measurement and analysis of the project portfolio as an integral part measuring company's productivity. The goal is to project a model for measuring and analyzing the project portfolios for a specific medium-sized Czech IT company, operating in development and software sales. The work is based on a theoretical basis for the concept of Balanced Scorecard and for operating company's productivity, focused primarily on the portfolio, project management and monitoring. The practical part identifies the strategic objectives of the company, concerning the project portfolio, and arranges them into perspectives on the basis of the Balanced Scorecard concept. It also analyzes the way of monitoring the implementation of strategic objectives and determines in which phases the monitoring objectives are pursued. Further step is the definition of indicators and their attributes. Metrics are compiled of these attributes and a structure is projected for a presentation of metrics. Metrics are logically arranged so that the users are provided with information-based decisions and are arranged to find the causes of results the metrics show. The thesis has three main outputs. Firstly, it is a list of goals arranged to the Balanced Scorecard structure and identification of mutual structures among the objectives in the strategic map. Secondly, it is a model of parameters and metrics for managing project portfolios that can be applied to companies with similar characteristics, such as the company for which the model is implemented. The final outcome of this work is the implementation of the projected solutions in the Microsoft Business Intelligence.
Usage of Balanced Scorecard for IS/IT efficiency measurement
Bílík, Petr ; Maryška, Miloš (advisor) ; Hudeček, Michal (referee)
This bachelor thesis is concentrating on the possibility of usage of Balanced Scorecard for IS/IT efficiency measurement. Objective of this thesis is to analyse current state of CRM system in AIESEC using BSC and to create list of measures to take to increase efficiency of the measured CRM system. This list of measures is created based on the analysis done using BSC. The thesis is divided to two main chapters. The first chapter is theorethical and its main focus is to describe BSC. It contains the logic with which BSC is being created and also advantages and disadvantages of this method. Important part of this chapter is also theory on IT BSC, which describes modification of standard BSC for purpose of IS/IT system measurement. The end of this chapter is devoted theory on the measures of success in IS/IT. Second chapters od this thesis is practical and is devoted to application of gathered theory in practice. CRM system used by AIESEC is the object of measurement here. The first part of this chapter describes the system and the reality in which the system is being used. Next part contains concrete BSC, which describes functioning of the system. This part was designed in cooperation with AIESEC representatives. Next, the measures of success were set for BSC. This was followed by the measuring of the system.Based on that, concrete data were analysed. This analysis provided the material to suggest set of measures to increase efficiency of CRM system. These measures will be given to AIESEC to apply them to practice to increase efficiency of the system. Theorethical part of the thesis was based on data from expert literature and academic articles. Practical part was based on the theory, consultations with AIESEC representative and users' survey about CRM system.
