Optical coherence tomography in macular diseases
Součková, Ilona ; Rozsíval, Pavel (advisor) ; Těšínský, Pavel (referee) ; Synek, Svatopluk (referee)
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a noninvasive, transpupillary imaging technology that can examine tissues with high axial and transverse resolution (in µm) in vivo. It is widely used in ophthalmology to document optic disc, nerve fibre layer and macula at different levels in front of, within and under the retina up to 2 mm in depth due to light absorption. Management of macular diseases becomes more important now-a-days due to increasing amount of patients, improved diagnostic methods and new therapeutic options. The aim of the study is to determine the role of OCT among the different examination methods on four patient groups of specific macular diseases: idiopathic macular hole, age- related macular degeneration, melanocytic choroidal tumors and circumscribed choroidal hemangioma. I have followed-up 76 patients at the Eye department of Faculty hospital Kralovske Vinohrady, Prague from January 2002 to September 2008. I have performed complete eye examination together with OCT (STRATUS OCT 3, Zeiss) on both eyes (n = 152) at all visits. "Radial lines" technique consisted of a spoke pattern protocol with 6 mm of scan length. The algorithm computed retinal map including foveal retinal thickness (FRT) and macular volume. NCSS software was used for statistics. There was reported in the group of...

The flavonoid content in commercially available pharmaceuticals containing skullcap
Dvořáková, Lenka ; Tůmová, Lenka (referee) ; Martin, Jan (advisor)
Name of the work: The flavonoid content in commercially available pharmaceuticals containing skullcap Author: Lenka Dvořáková The diploma work was targeted on the determination of flavonoid content in commercially available preparations with content of Scutellaria baicalensis. Two extracts from each preparation were prepared under different conditions. The highest amount of flavonoids was achieved by extraction in ultrasonic bath. Between companies were large differences in measured values as well as among fulfilment of legislative criteria. Dry extracts from China were also tested, because they are used as source material for companies in the Czech Republic. Tested food supplement showed low content of flavonoids and it seems to be poor quality.

The law presumes such cases and provides particular consequences. These consequences are the subject of this thesis. According to the Czech civil law there are following istitutes which can follow after breaching the contract: Default, the interest on the sum in arrears, a late payment charge, damages, penalty clause, liability for defects. The thesis is divided into several parts according to the described consequence. At the beginning of the thesis, there is an introduction into the problem, then there is described the contract. There is explained the term, then the process of making the contract (proposal and its acceptation). After clarifying the basic term of the thesis follows the description of mentioned consequences. The first is damages, it is placed in the front place because of its importance and many variations and possibilities of use. It comes after fulfilling certain conditions: Breaching...

Analysis of investment policy in case of re-building and reconstruction of the CWTP in Prague in context of European grant
Večerník, Jakub ; Vojáček, Ondřej (advisor) ; Slavík, Jan (referee)
The Reconstruction of the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant in Prague constitutes a fundamental challenge for the Czech capital city of Prague. The existing wastewater treatment plant is obsolete and fails to comply with limits set forth by the Council Directive 91/271/EEC concerning urban waste-water treatment. Thus, it is necessary to build a new waterline and reconstruct the old one. As such a project would be financially demanding, its implementation is dependent upon a subsidy from the EU Operational Programme "Environment". There are also more variants of the reconstruction of the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant in Prague. In the thesis, the author compares the contemplated options of re-building and reconstruction of the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant in Prague. He also examines the influence of negotiations with European Commission representatives and of the amount of the subsidy upon the choice of the final option. A hypothesis of the study is that due to the subsidy policy creates pressure on the final form of the reconstruction of the Prague Central Wastewater Treatment Plant, which directly interact its economic efficiency.

Choirs in the Life of Church Community
Veverková, Zuzana ; Beneš, Ladislav (advisor) ; Filipi, Pavel (referee)
This bachelor work is focused on development of choral music in Christian communities. It provides the reader with a perspective on its' evolution in different time periods from The Old Testament period through intertestamental period, New Testament, Early Church and historical development from the sixth century through reformation to the twentieth century, where it either focuses on individual contributors to music development (that is musical composers, kings etc.) or conservation of specific artifacts (files, records and writings). This development is then taken into account when evaluating position of music in these time periods and it mentions the occurrence of changes. Next, the paper is interested in the roles of Church and choirs and in fulfillment of these roles. Finally it presents common problems when building a church music program and tries to provide the reader with some solutions to rid of those problems and use an entire potential of music programs that they offer. It also focuses on the presence of choral music and faith in the mentioned time periods and gives supporting evidence on the produced hypotheses with the help of used literature. Faith and its' connection to choral music is a protagonist of this work and is given a fair amount of attention in regard to either development...

This study presents applications of DSSAT version 4.5 software package to simulate thermophilic crops. The results are used to identified adaptation options to reduce impacts of climate changes, pest and diseases in thermophilic crops in the central and southeastern Europe, specifically in Elbe River lowland and Romania. For the Czech Republic, experimental research at farm level includes: (1) testing thermophilic assortment of vegetables in Elbe lowland conditions; (2) monitoring the meteorological data, phenological phases, soil characteristics, leaf area and the amount of aboveground biomass on farmer vegetable fields. For Romania, the focus is put on crop water use efficiency under current and future climate scenarios for thermophilic species (maize) in different agricultural sites from south and south-eastern regions. CERES Maize and CROPGRO-vegetables modules embedded in DSSAT were used.

Decision of a Steel Company Trading with Emissions
Zapletal, F. ; Šmíd, Martin
We formulate a Mean-CVaR decision problem of a production company obliged to cover its CO2 emissions by allowances. Certain amount of the allowances is given to the company for free, the missing/redundant ones have to be bought/sold on a market. To manage their risk, the company can use derivatives on emissions allowances (in particular futures and options), in addition to spot values of allowances. We solve the decision problem for the case of an real-life Czech steel company for different levels of risk aversion and different scenarios of the demand. We show that the necessity of emissions trading generally, and the risk caused by the trading in particular, can influence the production significantly even when the risk is decreased by means of derivatives. The results of the study show that even for low levels of the risk aversion, futures on allowances are optimal to use in order to reduce the risk caused by the emissions trading.
