Global topics in Civics teaching at the second grade of primary school

This thesis deals with global topics teaching analysis at the second grade of primary school. It presents basic features of this issue in Frame education programme as well as in chosen methodology by Human in emergency Bohouš a Dáša: Dáša at the world marketplace. The thesis is divided into eight chapters. It also contents an own survey based on qualitative research (dialogues with teachers) within a particular school case study. There are activities developed on the grounds of the survey results that Civics and related subjects teachers may use. These fulfill some Frame education programme expected performances and particular overview topics.
Sex education in the curriculum and the current educational lower secondary school

Tématem bakalářské práce je sexuální výchova. Práce analyzuje její vývoj v České republice a popisuje situaci ve vybraných zahraničních zemích (Norsko, Švédsko, Dánsko, Francie, Velká Británie, Německo, Polsko, Itálie, Bulharsko, Chorvatsko, Švýcarsko, Nizozemí, Japonsko, Indie, Keňa, Mexiko). Zabývá se implementací sexuální výchovy do vzdělávacích programu: Základní škola, Obecná škola, Národní škola a do rámcového vzdělávacího programu a analyzuje "Doporučení MŠMT CR k výuce sexuální výchovy". Praktickou část představuje výzkum, který je zaměřen na výuku, metody a zkušenosti učitelů sexuální výchovy na 2. stupni základních škol.

Eliška Bucvanová. Diplomová práce. Citizenship - Theoretical Bases and Teaching Practice ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH Weak civil society can be seen as a possible drawback of Czech democracy. One of the possible ways of building it is citizenship education provided within the compulsory school system. Citizenship is also the main subject of this work, which uses qualitative research methods to find out how the concept of "citizenship" is understood by teachers at a selected primary school, what information they provide to pupils on this subject and how. Since the scope of the paper would be insufficient, it does not intend to map the state of citizenship education in the Czech Republic: its aim is to find out how teachers approach the subject and whether their opinions coincide, and to compare their views with the information contained in literature. The results of the work show that the selected school is at a comparatively high level; however, the teachers' attitudes to citizenship education and its aims lack consistency and comprehensiveness and, also, the pupils' knowledge highly varies. This can be due to the fact that citizenship education has long been in need of an integrated approach and, very probably, also training opportunities for teachers that would help them develop their professional skills. Text work at civics lessons

The bachelor thesis deals with text work methods and their utilization at civics at primary schools' second level. The theoretical part defines basic civics terminology, namely educational methods, text work methods, text, textbooks, readers and civics literacy. The practical part includes content analysis of complex civics and Czech language and literature textbooks for primary schools' second level. Survey used in the bachelor thesis concentrates on texts and methods used during civics lessons. There are also three worksheets with example work methods included.

The thesis focuses on the characteristics of the current the qualification teachers of civics and current state of this course. The theoretical part will be explained the basic concepts: competence, approbation, cross-cutting themes, textbook civics, civics in General education program. Empirical research will be carried out quantitatively by questionnaire. The aim is to ascertain the qualifications of current teachers in Vysočina. Furthermore, this work investigates how these teachers are satisfied with the educational content of the subject civics.
Czech time-lapse documentary production since 1989 and possilbe use in civics

The bachelor's thesis looks into origins, developments and categories of a documentary. It focuses on the time-lapse documentary. It further analyses its conception and development in the Czech Republic. Film makers who use a time-lapse method are introduced along with their work. The thesis describes themes of time-lapse documentaries and their advantages, disadvantages and specifics. The main character portrayed is Helena Třeštíková and her work. Three of her documentaries finished after 1989 are described in a greater detail. Crucial topics of this thesis are the ones that are pictured by the documentary and can be consequently applied in civics at schools. The thesis' purpose is to detect 'the message' of time-lapse documentaries for society, for example the life lessons students may learn by watching them and also how they could be used in civics or other classes.
The monotheistic religions in the textbooks of civics

The aim of my work is to show the position of monotheistic religions, namely Christianity, Judaism and Islam, in civics textbooks and in the eyes of today's teachers and pupils in the primary schools. Today´s Czech society does not attach more importance to religion, even though they constitute a significant part of our and the world´s history. The work is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. In the theoretical section are described the basic information about textbooks and further analysis of the civics textbooks that contain the topic of religion, since the 90s of the last century to the present. There is also a history outline and present of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The main task, in the practical part, is to review and evaluate the attitudes of today's teachers and students for teaching religion in civic education in primary school. The research was conducted using questionnaires, which are suitable for obtaining information related to this issue. To compare the research, there was also added 8 years gymnasium, concretely the lower level together with two primary schools.
The theme of communism in the current school education program

Diploma thesis - The theme of communism in the current school education program - is dealing partly with defining the basic concepts such as ideology, totalitarianism, socialism, communism or nazism. The individual terms are characterized on the basis of specialized literature and basic information about them is provided. It also concentrates on the theme of the Russian Revolution and its impact on the development of communism in Europe. Furthermore, the work provides evidence of how insufficient is the theme of communism in civic education lessons in primary schools currently discussed. Although there are also modern civic education textbooks published in recent years, the topic of communism appears there only occasionally. As for the websites that can be used for processing of this topic, pages of General educational program or program One World in Schools can be used. These, however, provide materials only, and it is up to the teachers to decide how to use them in lessons of civic education when discussing this topic. The practical part consists of the actual learning program that is broken down by lessons. The conclusion is accompanied by all the necessary attachments. Based on the application of the program in practice it was found that students in the program understood the basic information and also appreciated working with modern technology in the teaching. It is also shown that the program was successfully implemented in practice.
The project method in civics lessons

My dissertation work deals with the project method in civics lessons. The target of this work was to find a place of this method in teaching civics at primary school. The work is divided into two parts. In the first part I focused on the theoretical ground of the project method, its historical development and contemporary conceptions while I even tried to outline the position of civics at primary school. In the second part of the work I deal with possibilities how to organize curriculum of civics according to the project method. Proposals of own projects and own realization of one of the selected project are stated in this part.
The use of interactive whiteboard in teaching Civics

This diploma thesis deals with the use of interactive whiteboards in the second grade primary Cicics lessons. The theoretical part focusees on the general approach to interactive whiteboard and their significance in the Framework Educational Programe; the importance, principle and features of interactive whiteboards. A key part of interaktiv whiteboards is also their technology and available programmes for teaching. Texttbooks are another Essentials part especially in these case so-called interactive textbooks. The practical part analyse the questionnaires which serve to evaluace the importance of interactive teaching, its advantages and disadvantages in teching Civics.
