Jan Kameník's poetic work
El-Dunia, Zita ; Červenka, Miroslav (advisor) ; Vojvodík, Josef (referee) ; Žůrek, Jiří (referee)
The topic of my thesis is the body of poetic works by Jan Kameník, which was a pen-name of Ludmila Macešková (1898-1974). Jan Kameník's poetic works consist of five collections of poetry; they are frequently classified as unusually distinctive and unique in the Czech literary context. My thesis asks two related questions: "where does Jan Kameník fit in to the Czech literary context" and "what is the relationship between mystique and poetry in Kameník's literary work". My fundamental methodological point was an examination of the "aesthetic content" as applied by Josef Vojvodík in his monograph From Aestheticism to Eschaton. Models of the World and Existence in the Lyrical Work by Otokar Březina. Symbolic Paradigm Reconstruction (2004). In the case of Jan Kameník/ Ludmila Macešková, the issue of the subject comes forward in specific contexts and in relation to the male stylisation in a female author's texts under her male pen-name. To grasp the problem issues of the subject in Jan Kameník's poetry, I applied studies by Miroslav Červenka, Marie Kubínova and Vladimír Macura presented in the bulletin, Proměny subjektu (Metamorphoses of the Subject) (1994). By giving a view of a wider cultural and literary context, evaluation of Kameník research so far and my own interpretation of Kameník's poetry collections, I...
