Homomorphic encryption and coding theory
Půlpánová, Veronika ; Hojsík, Michal (advisor) ; Šťovíček, Jan (referee)
Title: Homomorphic encryption and coding theory Author: Veronika Půlpánová Department: Department of algebra Supervisor: RNDr. Michal Hojsík, Ph.D., Department of algebra Abstract: The current mainstream in fully homomorphic encryption is the appro- ach that uses the theory of lattices. The thesis explores alternative approaches to homomorphic encryption. First we present a code-based homomorphic encrypti- on scheme by Armknecht et. al. and study its properties. Then we describe the family of cryptosystems commonly known as Polly Cracker and identify its pro- blematic aspects. The main contribution of this thesis is the design of a new fully homomorphic symmetric encryption scheme based on Polly Cracker. It proposes a new approach to overcoming the complexity of the simple Polly Cracker - based cryptosystems. It uses Gröbner bases to generate zero-dimensional ideals of po- lynomial rings over finite fields whose factor rings are then used as the rings of ciphertexts. Gröbner bases equip these rings with a multiplicative structure that is easily algorithmized, thus providing an environment for a fully homomorphic cryptosystem. Keywords: Fully homomorphic encryption, Polly Cracker, coding theory, zero- dimensional ideals

Automatic Extraction of Lexico-Syntactic Information from Corpora
Bojar, Ondřej
The presented work investigates methods for semi-automatic extraction of lexico-syntactic information from corpora, particularly the information on subcategorization and valency frames. We document that at present time, PDT and CNC corpora are not sufficient for this task. We describe a simple method for a selective extension of corpora based on texts from Internet. We evaluate three parsers available for Czech with respect to the task of extracting verb frames. We have implemented a linguistically motivated ltration of input sentences to identify "very simple sentences", which helps the parsers to achieve better accuracy. The system AX designed in this work is more generic, any kind of linguistic fi ltration can be employed. The system is also suitable for creating partial or full parsers of natural languages. The thesis also presents a user's guide to the system AX. Furthermore, we compare methods for extraction of subcategorization frames from observed frames. We classify observed frames into a hierarchy suitable for human anotators. Finally, several problems of automatic extraction of valency frames are discussed.

Evolution is a most fascinating feature of all living things in our world. The means of organismal evolution are diverse, comprising mainly of natural and sexual selection. Both of these phenomena may contribute to evolutionary adaptations in health and disease. The questions of immunity impact on the process of sexual selection and sexual selection for increased anti-parasite resistance are wide issues of the present research in natural sciences. Their clarification requires multidisciplinarily-based investigation combining a variety of partial results into a single united paradigm. My co-workers and I have chosen several specific issues to study, in order to fill some of the important gaps of the current knowledge. We proposed the Carotenoid maintenance handicap hypothesis to point out that optimisation instead of maximisation of the carotenoid intake and ornamental display may be physiologically convenient for the individual. In Scarlet rosefinch (Carpodacus erythrinus) we confirmed the role of the carotenoid-based ornamental colouration in the process of sexual selection and investigated several partial aspects of the association between immunogenetics, immune function, health and the ornament expression and mate choice. In Zebra finch (Taeniopygia guttata) we have shown that the present way of...

Study of Electrophysiological Function of the Heart in Experimental Cardiology

Mass spectrometry imaging is a powerful technique suitable for visualization of the distribution of a wide variety of compounds within tissue sections. The main aim of the study was the development and optimization of a sample preparation procedure allowing determination of the distribution of orally dosed metformin in mice kidney sections. Metformin is the first-line medication for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. The optimization of the sample preparation step before imaging experiments included the selection of a suitable matrix and the optimization of various parameters of MALDI analysis. 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid was identified as the best matrix providing highest sensitivity. A sublimation method was successfully used for the matrix deposition. The highest relative concentration of metformin was found in the inner zone of kidney 30 minutes after the drug administration.

Ficker, Ondřej ; Mlynář, Jan ; Bonheure, G. ; Murari, A. ; Popovichev, S.
Providing a detection method for diagnostic of charged fusion products in tokamaks presents a major challenge, while its absolute calibration with a sufficient accuracy and its capability to withstand harsh fusion reactor environment will be required. A novel type of detector that meets most of these requirements, based on an activation probe, was tested in JET and other European facilities. This probe proved to be extremely robust due to its simple construction. It is equipped with samples of well defined isotopic abundance. The amounts of activated nuclei due to the reactions in these materials could be measured via ultra-low-level gamma spectroscopy. The feasibility of the proton spectrum reconstruction from measured activities is examined in this contribution with the help of the algorithm based on the Tikhonov regularisation constrained by minimum Fisher information. The reliability of the method was previously illustrated using synthetic proton data.
