Hydraulic assessment of a stream revitalization effect on a floodplain retention capacity
Berka, Ondřej ; Havlíček, Tomáš (referee) ; Dráb, Aleš (advisor)
Diploma thesis “Hydraulic Assessment of a Stream Revitalization Effect on a Floodplain Retention Capacity“ assess availability of revitalized stream and its floodplain to transform floods and compare determined values with transformed floods from model of technically modified stream, both by using coupling 1D/2D BASEMENT computational model. In the first part is overall introduction to research issue. In the second part the territory of interest is described and the hypothesis are set. In the third part are described input data, used tools, computational model, its making and computational versions. In the fourth part the hypothesis are evaluated. It was determined, that for in this thesis used terrain and hydrographs are floods smaller than Q20 transformed much more by revitalized stream and that technically modified stream can speed up the flood, floods Q50 and Q100 are more transformed by technically modified stream. For generalization of the results would be appropriate to make research on bigger ammount of case studies based on combination of 1D/2D and rainfall-runoff model.
Leisure and Integration Centre in Hranice
Dobešová, Veronika ; Staňková, Eva (referee) ; Havliš, Karel (advisor)
The basic starting point of the project is to understand needs of mentally disabled people and an evaluation of a badly usable floodplain. The draft proposes creation of an activity park, an exemplary garden and a leisure- and integration centre object. The centre generates an important point on the route from the city centre to the neighbouring spa town and connects two significant areas in the town, which associate various cultural and sports facilities. The design of flood-protection works was evolving from a version with a partial increase of the terrain and placement of a flood-protection dyke up to the nature-close arrangements in a terrain-dyke form, which doesn´t inhibit natural processes of the Bečva river and maintains an active flood zone in an almost unchanged shape. The building program was formulated in two versions. A creative café connected with a gastro-workshop is fundamental in the both versions. In the building program A a horticulture is emphasised, the building program B is more aimed at a creative-workshops. The concept of the building is constructed on the terse principal of harmony between individual boxes with clearly defined functions and free, connecting space. An easy orientation and a free, for everybody open space is the base of the building. The garden- and park-arrangements in the studied area were chosen in the way to fully support the character of the planned leisure-centre. The draft is composed by geometrically alternating areas with different functions, which are connected by a promenade going along the dyke-crown.

Evaluation of Flood Protection of Újezd u Brna
Lehotská, Lívia ; Jelínková, Iva (referee) ; Jandora, Jan (advisor)
The aims of the bachelor thesis is evaluation of flood protection of town Újezd u Brna and propose the increase levees of the Litava river or reduction levees under the city and realize the water from the river to inundation. The thesis will be transferred to the calculation using the HEC - RAS. The conclusion will be evaluated both proposals for protecting the city.
Proposal for Management of River Bars in the Alluvium of River Nakdong
BROŽ, Zdeněk
This work represents a grant application for a project dealing with scientific research on river bars in the alluvium of South Korean river Nakdong. The project is focused on finding the optimal management design of these river bars with respect to all their main landscape functions.
Selected methods of evaluation of ecosystem functions of nature onto example of floodplain of river Lužnice
JELÍNKOVÁ, Zuzana
Diploma thesis deals with detailed analysis and following application of selected economical methods for evaluation of ecosystems services and functions of nature onto concrete example of floodplain of river Lužnice. For the determination of economical potential of landscape, Contingent Valuation Method, Method of Pointing Valuation of Biotopes of the Czech Republic and Replacement Cost Method, was applicated. According to achieved results, the comparison of usability and effectivity of various methods of evaluation of landscape, was performed. Presented thesis is completed by sociological survey of stakeholders in relation to the model area.
Potential of the restoration of the halophyte vegetation lower course of the Trkmanka river floodplain
Halas, Petr
One of the most important areas with halophyte vegetation in the Czech Republic represents lower course of the Trkmanka river floodplain. This vegetation is a small rest of the origin distribution. Plant species structure has changed in context of historical and recent management. Many plant species became extinct due to destruction of biotops, hydrological regime changes and leaving of extensive management too. The chance to survive of the halophyte plant species will exist due to specific feature of halomorphic soil and competitive advantage of halophyte plant species if management of the rare biotops is right.
Ecosystem services of a floodplain
Pithart, David ; Křováková, Kateřina ; Dušek, Jiří ; Žaloudík, Jiří
Natural segments of river floodplains have preserved the ability to provide a scale of ecosystem services. The aim of this study is to evaluate in a monetary way the selected ecosystem services of a natural segment of river Lužnice floodplain, Czech republic, based on the analysis and quantification of ecosystem processes and structures. Evaluated services are flood protection, carbon sequestration, biodiversity refugium and production of hay, wood and fish.
Ekosystems services of river floodplain
Pithart, David ; Benedová, Zdeňka ; Křováková, Kateřina
The book of abstractcs contains contributions from the conference „Ecosystem services of river floodplains“, held in Třeboň, Czech republic, in april 2008. The articles deals with functions of river floodplains in the landscape, ecosystem services concept, water, nutrient and carbon retention, biodiversity, floodplain morphology and its development, hydrological aspects of river flooplains, andd water management policies and revitalizations.
Factors affecting the species composition of fish communities inhabiting sections of the rivers Morava, Dyje, Odra and Lužnice and their adjacent floodplains
Lusk, Stanislav ; Lusková, Věra ; Lojkásek, B. ; Hartvich, P.
The species composition of fish communities was studied in sections of the rivers Morava and Dyje (Black S. basin), Odra (Baltic S.), Lužnice (North S.) with floodplains. The following factors appear to determine the species composition of the ichthyofaunae inhabiting the hydrological regions: Sea basin, location of the section in the longitudinal profile of a stream, absence of migration barriers, presence of fishponds, fishery management. As regards the origin of a community, the pertinence to a basin is of greatest importance and migration from the lower sections. As regards the species richness of ichthyofauna, the region of confluence of the rivers Morava and Dyje is the richest of the whole Czech Republic - 38 native species, 9 of which occur only in that region, 7 alien species was recorded in that region. The region of the Odra R. was found to harbour 29 native and 4 non-native species; that of the Lužnice R., 25 native and 5 non-native fish species and 1 lamprey species .
