The use of Bach flower remedies in dogs
Křížová, Kristýna ; Barták, Miroslav (advisor) ; Klimešová, Vanda (referee)
Fytoterapy, a plant medicine is focusing itself on using effective plant substances for their following application by drug making or as a direct distribution to the patient for curing. Patients are nowadays demanding a combination of classical and natural cure, especially after a number of evidences, which found that an extensive use of synthetic drugs can cause serious negative consequences. On the contrary, when using natural cure of Bach flower therapy, no negative influences or harmfulness were proven, even with incorrect dosage. Flower therapy of an English doctor Edward Bach can be used for animals or humans and consists of regenerating of balance of emotional states, there fore even abnormal behavior. Bach created a system of 38 leaves, which he thoroughly examined to discover their healing effects. The only mixture which was prepared by doctor Bach in person is known as a Crisis essence. Bach believed that the actual patient and the cause of disease should be cured rather, than only the disease consequences. During his life, Edward Bach has spread his findings further on to his colleagues on various lectures a congresses and also to a general public by the books, which he wrote. Thanks to the cooperation of Edward Bach and a homeopathic company called Nelsons, the Bach essences could be spread across the world. This tradition has persisted up to today times with every application of dr. Bach approaches and instructions. The effect of flower essences is unique in way that makes it to possible to experience particular feelings without suffering from panic or shock, which usually occurs when using common tranquilizing mediums or anti-depressive drugs, that only suppress the perception without the problem itself being necessarily solved. The outcome of strong emotional bindings between owner and its animal can be often described as a transition of our moods, stress, etc. onto our animal. Emotional tension can be a root cause of health problems with behavioral or nerve symptoms. The use of Bach flower therapy for animals can therefore be beneficial, because it regenerates balance and harmony of true animal temperament and cures diseases, which have originated due to living with human. Using Flower Essence is still expanding, especially among holistic and homeopathic veterinarians and other experts, including ethologists. Unfortunately, unlike homeopathic products, in which have been done extensive tests with the treatment of animals, with Flower Essence there was only a few, if any at all. These output studies mostly work with the placebo effect and testing in human subjects did not bring general results. Recent several studies shows that at least on an emotional level, Bach flower therapy can be further studied and developed. In the near future Phytopharmacy made it its mission to explore and validate the traditional healing of herbs. Perhaps the same thing will happen with the Bach flower therapy. Using essence is wide, in critical situations it is advisable to use the essence before veterinary treatment and as a supplement of veterinary treatment. Essence can be used directly in the mouth, which is the most common potential gain of Flower Essence by animal or also in water, food, baths and as a spray. On a properly chosen essence animals react immediately, however the response is very individual. Therefore it is also necessary to choose individual flower essences for a particular individual with a specific problem. Edward Bach divided his 38 blossoms into 7 groups, where each of them represents one of the main negative attitude. A description of which essence corresponds with which therapeutic effect and therefore treatment of problem behavior, it is necessary and we can say that even the use of Bach flower therapy with dogs is crucial. To approach this issue, this work uses a survey, which was focused on finding the awareness of Bach Flower Therapy dog owners and its possible uses. The most common problem behavior or health problem was examined and solved with Bach flower therapy, as well as adherence to the recommended dosage.

Evaluation of Screening Mammograms by Local Structural Mixture Models
Grim, Jiří ; Lee, G. L.
We consider the recently proposed evaluation of screening mammograms by local statistical models. The model is defined as a joint probability density of inside grey levels of a suitably chosen search window. We approximate the model density by a mixture of Gaussian densities. Having estimated the mixture parameters we calculate at all window positions the corresponding log-likelihood values which can be displayed as grey levels at the respective window centers. The resulting log-likelihood image closely correlates with the original mammogram and emphasizes the structural details. In this paper we try to enhance the log-likelihood images by using structural mixture model capable of suppressing the influence of noisy variables.

The psychological prevention of work injuries
PAPAJOVÁ, Hana
This thesis deals with psychological prevention of work injuries. About two milion of people die worldwide as a result of work injuries and illnesses originating in work. If I think about this statistic data, I have to ask myself basic questions: what is the cause of such a high mortality in today´s over-technical time, what are the main causes of injuries and how can we anticipate them? These questions are also the main issues of this work. The first chapter deals with work injuries, particularly with the way we should proceed when it comes to such an injury - what the employer´s and employee´s duties are. Rhe next sub-chapter focuses on the responsibility for the harm of work injuries, work injuries compensation such as the earning loss substitution, smart money, specific costs connected with treatment and compensation for damage to property. The second chapter is aimed to the labour protection. Firstly, it deals with the labour protection on a general level, then with the BOZP training and related basic documents, OHSAS 18001 Certifikace systému managementu BOZP - contributions of the certification and "Safe enterprise". The last sub-chapter goes in the work inspection authorities - keeping duties given by legal formulas, activities of the work inspection authorities, the scope of their activities and the authorization of the work inspector. The third chapter is about the work injuries prevention. The first sub-chapter focuses on the employer´s duties, the next one is about mental burden and its display, also the safe demands on machines and appliances, examples of causes of work injuries and more particular principles of labour protection in the food industry. The fourth part has been created in a quantitative way. I have asked nine meat manufactories to complete a questionnaire I had made myself in a way to draw conclusions and fulfill the goals of the thesis and answer the questions set at the beginning. The company, which came out the smallest accident, I did an interview, which makes, I obtained information regarding their approach to the issue. The labour and health protection are neccessary conditions in all work branches. Every employer has a lot of duties to their employees and the goal is to provide the workplace safe and with a minimal risk of work injuries. The most important issue is to pay attention to prevention from the very beginning.

Developmental and traumatic diseases of the knee joint in dog.
Špatenková, Dana ; Karlasová, Barbora (advisor) ; Stanislav, Stanislav (referee)
Patellar luxation is a condition subject to heredity. It varies in gravity depending on its clinical grade and on the duration of luxation. Patellar luxation may be medial which is more common type and lateral which is less common. Often the only way to sustain a comfort of a dog patient and its normal use of a hind limb is surgical management. Considering a hereditary and congenital aspect of patellar luxation we see that it is an important breeding problem and some measures should be taken to stop its spread in breeds. The cranial cruciate ligament rupture is mostly traumatic in origin and affects especially large and giant breed dogs although all breeds may be affected. In the lower percentage of cases there is possible a degenerative origin of the disease. There is a higher prevalence of the disease in older and less active dogs. After a diagnosis of a LCC rupture surgical intervention should be implied and performed as soon as possible to put an end to the progress of arthrotic changes and to sustain the patients comfort. This master thesis was also concerned with original research examining 23 dogs with patellar luxation or LCC rupture, two dogs of these afflicted with both. Hypotheses of the thesis introduction have been mostly confirmed, LCC rupture afflicted especially overweight or obese individuals (56%), predominant affliction of females has been also confirmed (56%), partly also increased affliction of neutered animals (25% females, 6% males). Medial patellar luxation is distinctively more common than lateral one, the hypothesis has been confirmed, medial patellar luxation afflicted 100% of the dogs. Medial patellar luxation affects mostly small and miniature breeds, the hypothesis has been confirmed, all examined dogs were of small or miniature breed (100%).

Activity of CoMo/MSA Catalysts in Benzothiophene Hydrodesulfurization, Cumene Cracking and Cyclohexene Isomerization
Gulková, Daniela ; Kaluža, Luděk ; Zdražil, Miroslav ; Vít, Zdeněk
It was found that MoO3 does not adsorb onto pure SiO2 despite its relatively high surface area (400 m2/g). In contrast, SA52, MSA30, and MSA19 with surface areas 430, 580 and 600 m2/g adsorbed about 14, 7 and 3 wt. % of MoO3, respectively. The content of Al2O3 in the SA based materials thus well correlated with the adsorption loadings of MoO3 achieved by the saturation experiments. Moreover, it was acquired that the highest dispersion and HDS activities were achieved over catalysts containing dealuminated MSA supports despite of relatively low loadings of Mo. After Co deposition, the weight normalized activities in BT HDS increased 2.2 and 4.3 times on effective MoS2 promotion by Co on more acidic supports. Furthermore, those catalysts keep the high acidities of the original supports, as it was determined by cyclohexene isomerization and cumene cracking, while industrial reference CoMo catalysts supported onto gamma-Al2O3 was found to exhibit low acidity.

Diseases of the eye and ear in dogs
Plocová, Markéta ; Fiala Šebková, Naděžda (advisor) ; Chmelíková, Eva (referee)
The work deals with the description of selected diseases of the eye and ear. In order to better understand the different diseases and disorders caused by them, there is first described the anatomy and physiology of the competent organs of vision and hearing, and the location of their centers in the brain. Some breeds, due to their anatomical and genetic foundation have predisposition to certain diseases or disorders. Selected diseases of vision and hearing are described in view of anatomical and physiological eventually. Part of the description of diseases is also an overview of the clinical signs and symptoms. Some of selected diseases are genetic and can be inherited from generation to generation. For these heritable diseases are mentioned the possible candidate genes and their localization. Next I explain the congenital diseases that may occur during prenatal or postnatal development. For each disease I present the table with breeds where the disease occurs. Eye diseases mentioned in this work are largely genetic in origin, so there is described in detail the genetic basis of the disease with a potential name of the candidate gene, the mutation and its localization. I deal with the diseases of the Primary Lens Luxation (PLL), Canine Multifocal Retinopathy (CMR), Multifocal Retinal Dysplasia (MRD), Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA), Dry eye syndrome and curly hair (CKCSID), Glaucoma, Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) . For these hereditary diseases, it is important for breeders to eliminate their occurrence with the consistent breeding work. The most common diseases of the ear are called otities, ie. ear infections. These infections can lead to damage and finally to the complete loss of hearing. As a separate chapter I mention hearing disorder in Dalmatians, which is associated to the coat color. Next I deal with the neurological symptoms of ear disease, complication associated with total canal ablation and bulla osteotomy, pathological changes in congenital ear disorder MPS (Mucopolysaccharidosis), disorders of the inner ear and the vestibular system. Finally, it should be noted that thanks to the latest findings of diseases, they are better described and it is achieved better recognition of diseases and their causes, but their prevention is dependent on the origin of the disease. For diseases obtained it is important for the dogs to ensure the welfare conditions, while for hereditary diseases it is necessary the negative selection in the respective breeding of the affected breed.

Food additives of plant origin: analysis of traditional and conventional use
Steiningerová, Kristýna ; Nový, Pavel (advisor) ; Hummelová, Jana (referee)
This bachelor thesis summarizes the knowledge about food preservation including methods of preservation by using food additives of plant and synthetic origin. In order to survive and secure themselves for unfavorable times, it was necessary for people to invent methods of food preservation for extending their shelf-life, but foremost to ensure food safety. First part of thesis summarizes issues of food preservation. There are mentioned traditionall used methods for preservation since the beginning of preservation and also description of food additives. Concurrently domestic and foreign international organisations, which handle food additives issues, are mentioned. Furthermore there are described possible risks to human health, caused by food additives. Thesis defines preservatives, antioxidants a their main role in food industry. Important point of this thesis is also an attempt to describe substances of natural origin as suitable alternatives to synthetic additives. In the following there is part about medicinal plants including herbs and spices used as preservatives and additives with antioxidant activity. The aim of this study was to analyse the plants traditionally used for food preservation. However, neither satisfying references about traditionally used plants for preservation were found and nor were confirmed. For this reason was chosen group of plants, which were used as spices in food processing since acient times, for analyses. In scientific browsing databases were found records about chosen plants and their antibacterial and antioxidant activities and about their testing in food models. The result is a list of plants with proven antibacterial and antioxidant effects in vitro studies investigating their potential use in food preservation. Some species, which were not in food models tested, were identified with a potential preservative effect, so it opens the door for possible further investigation.

In situ projects in the protection of Pongo genus in connection with the expansion of oil palm plantations on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra
Talpová, Julie ; Masopustová, Renata (advisor) ; Dokoupilová, Adéla (referee)
This Bachelor Thesis is dedicated to the protection of Bornean orangutan Pongo pygmaeus and Sumatran orangutan Pongo abelii in connection to the expansion of palm oil plantations. The genus Pongo includes Bornean orangutan Pongo pygmaeus and the Sumatran orangutan Pongo abelii. Until recently these species were considered to be subspecies but on the basis of genetic analysis there were significant changes in the taxonomy. It can be assumed that the scheme will continue to evolve. Bornean orangutan is classified as endangered species by the IUCN, Sumatran orangutan even as critically endangered. Their vulnerability is apparent from their way of life. They are long-lived, but slowly reproducing animals. Female brings the first baby to the world after 15 years of age and is devoted to its eight years of age. They are typical representatives of arboreal primates. Trees are their sleeping place, provide them ability to move and serve as food source. There are several sources of danger. The biggest threat is considered to be the loss of habitat of orangutans because of the establishment of oil palm plantations, logging and fires. These processes cause fragmentation of native habitats and access to forests means a threat of poachers. Elaeis guineensis is grown in Indonesia and Malaysia since the early 20th century and currently these countries produce 84% of world palm oil production. The lifetime of the plantations is estimated at 20-25 years. It is known that the soil is very exhausted after this time, the issue therefore is its future usefulness. The products are palm oil and palm-kernel oil, which are applied in food, cosmetics and industry. Both types of the oils contain high amounts of saturated fatty acids, therefore the WHO recommends to reduce the consumption of these oils. The aim of the in situ projects in Borneo and Sumatra was originally an effort to return the rescued orangutans to the wild in the first place. Increasingly, however, the projects faced the problem that such animals have nowhere to return, as their original habitats no longer exist. For this reason, the attention shifts to protect the natural habitat of orangutans and existing wild populations, with emphasis on the rigorous quarantine of newly recruited individuals, their social integration into the group, but also educational programs for the public.

Evaluation of creation of yield parameters of Kazbek and Saaz Late cultivars
Štefanová, Lucie ; Pulkrábek, Josef (advisor) ; Jaroslav, Jaroslav (referee)
Hops has been grown in Saaz region for 700 years. The first written mention about local hop garden comes from 1348, but it is certain that the hop gardens were owned by brewers and church dignitaries even earlier. First, hops was grown on the monastery grounds on a large scale. Czech, and thus Saaz hops, reached its peak in the 19th century, mainly for its fragrance, color and kontent of lupulin, and became a benchmark for determining the quality and price of hops. Kazbek is the first variety of "flavour hops" bred in the Czech Republic. Its unique sensory properties were examined with numerous brewing tests in several breweries of different sizes. Breeding of "flavour hops" is a real challenge for hop breeders. The first hop in that category, for example Citra, Amarillo, Simcoe, Bravo, were bred in the United States. Variety Kazbek was obtained by selecting progeny of the hybrid material, which has origins in Russian wild hops. It was registered in 2008 due to high stability and efficiency. Robustness and stability is expressed in the name of the variety, because Kazbek is the highest mountain of the middle Caucasus. From the brewing point of view, it belongs among the bitter types. Saaz Late variety was obtained by selecting F1 offspring of parental combination of unfinished breeding material that is the origin of Saaz. It has a charakter of late variety. Saaz Late is an aromatic variety for the second and third hopping. Aroma is genuine, fine, hoppy. The most important quality aspect of hops is alpha acids content. Content of alpha acids has been reagularly assessed since 1981. The evaluation results show, that the alpha acids kontent in varieties Saaz Late and Kazbek is proven statistically different. Selection of suitable location is the key element for cultivation of hybrid varieties. It is very important to focus on the evaluation of natural conditions of each location. This paper shows that there is no statistically significant difference between locations Stekník and Blšany. Optimal temperature for growth and subsequent yield formation should not drop below +7 °C in April, +11 °C in May and from June to August should range between +15 and +18 °C. The stability and balance of temperature is also important. Precipitation has a bigger 7 impact on yield formation than temperature. This statement was confirmed in 2015, when tropical temperatures and drought during the flowering and cone formation caused significant decrease of yield. Low yield level
