Financial literacy of users of refuges
JANOUŠOVÁ, Věra
Financial literacy is a topic of the day which concerns all the categories of the population in their everyday life. The thesis titled Financial Literacy of Refuge Clients tries to describe the theme of financial literacy from two points of view. On one hand, from the viewpoint of people who, for various reasons, have become clients of refuge and on the other hand, from the viewpoint of social workers who work in refuge. The theoretical part is divided into four subchapters which describe a given issue. An explanation of the basic terminology related to the topic is followed by a subchapter on financial education of children and adults and activities in the field of education. The third subchapter deals with potential effects of financial literacy and the end of the theoretical part focuses on social work with refuge clients. The practical part describes a research which consists of two parts. To achieve the defined goal, a qualitative research has been employed in both parts, using the survey method and the semi-structured interview technique. The document contents analysis was used in the second part of the research. The survey research was carried out in five refuge of Diaconia of the Evangelical Church of the Czech Brethren. The first part of the survey involved fifteen communication partners, users of the refuge as a social service. The second part of the survey involved five communication partners, social workers in refuge. Both survey samples were created by a special-purpose selection. The data gathered in the interviews were evaluated by means of the open coding method. The main goal of the thesis was to find out how refuge clients view their own financial literacy and a potential for improvement in this respect. A sub-goal of the thesis focused on learning viewpoints of the social workers regarding the potential for improving financial literacy of the refuge clients. The survey results have shown that the category of financial literacy within the meaning as defined in literature is not represented in the refuge clients. With regard to their generally difficult situation which also includes their financial situation, the category of financial literacy narrowed to the efforts to make both ends meet at the end of the month and to the question whether or not to deal with financial claims, debts or distraints. This is the setting which has to be the basis for work of social workers in refuge as well. There exists a wide-ranging offer of potential paths leading to financial literacy for all categories of the population, regardless their address. Leaving aside education at school, getting further information is optional, conditioned by everybody's own interest. To increase financial literacy of the clients, social workers may choose from many options, or use their own knowledge and skills. The main prerequisite for success is to adapt themselves to the clients' interest and capabilities. The thesis describes attitudes of refuge clients to financial literacy issues which are identical to the attitudes of this specific category of the population to addressing their difficult financial situation. Social workers become aware of additional possibilities of financial literacy improvement which they can use when working with their clients. Based on the survey results obtained, a comprehensible leaflet has been prepared, containing the essential information about financial literacy. The leaflet in both electronic and printed version will be available for those interested in it, i.e. refuge clients, social workers as well as the general public.

Health and social situation of unemployed people living in the region Český Krumlov
ŠESTÁKOVÁ, Andrea
The present thesis entitled "Health and social situation of unemployed persons living in Český Krumlov" deals with the issue of unemployment in the context of a human life situation. The five chapters the theoretical section define issues of health and its determinants with emphasis on the social determinants of health, and also deal with the characteristics of unemployment from an economic and social health point of view, the definition of the competencies of the Labour Office and other employment services, as well as with specific information about Český Krumlov including unemployment statistics relating to its territory. The practical part is based on quantitative research study. To collect data for this survey, interviewing method (a questionnaire) was used. A specific questionnaire was created, which contained mostly closed questions in the form of scales with a bilateral scale used for measuring the living situations of people questioned. Research tool focused on the subjective evaluation of the respondents in the areas of financial, social and health situation. The research sample consisted of individuals registered as jobseekers with the Labour Office in Český Krumlov. That means I used a deliberate choice through institutions. The selection was conducted by direct addressing potential respondents upon arriving at the Labour Office workplace in Český Krumlov. The questionnaires were distributed personally, so the return was 96.7%. After elimination of incomplete or logically incorrectly completed questionnaires, a total of 353 questionnaires were collected using the afformentioned procedure. The aim was to describe the health and social situation of unemployed persons living in Český Krumlov region and determine whether there is a relationship between social and health situation of the unemployed, and the relationship between unemployment length records and social situation of the unemployed. In line with the objectives of the work, two basic research questions were established in the following wording: "Does the subjective assessment of selected characteristics of the social situation reflect in the subjective evaluation of selected aspects of health of the unemployed?" And "Does the length of registration reflect in the subjective evaluation of the social situation of the unemployed?" To the research questions, the hypotheses were determined, which assumed that increasing the value of one variable will increase the value of the other variable. As the characteristics of the social situation for the first research question were chosen: duration of the records, perception of unemployment, living with a partner and financial situation. Health was due to the characteristics of the social situation assessed from three aspects - overall, mental and physical. The results of this research thus show that three out of four selected characteristics are reflected in the health of unemployed people in at least two respects. In terms of social situation, the results confirmed that the duration of the unemployment records are deteriorating financial situation and also the tolerance of the people around towards the unemployed from the perspective of the job seekers. These findings not only correspond with the current knowledge in this area, but also point out that the health and social problem of unemployment is still relevant even today, when the existential threat to the unemployed is averted. The diploma thesis could thus serve the Labour Office in Český Krumlov in the basic orientation about the health and social status of their registered candidates. Furthermore, it could be an incentive for local nonprofit organizations to establish cooperation with the unemployed if needed. The thesis could also enrich the existing research dealing with this issue in one of the regions with the highest unemployment rates in the country.

Approach of social work focused on mentally challenged clients.
PRACHAŘOVÁ, Eva
Inmy bachelor I focus on client-oriented approach in social work with clients with mental disabilities. In addition to theoretical knowledge I mapthe use and the knowledge of this approach by social workers in the South BohemianRegion and the South Moravian Region. The aim and purpose of the thesis was to inform public, students of social work and students of related fields of study about the possibilities of approaches that are used to clients with mental disabilities in social services. The aim of practical part was to describe an approach focused on the client and its use within work with clients with mental disabilities in organizations providing social services. To determine this goal there were defined two research questions: 1) In what extent do social workers use the client-orientedapproach to individuals with mental disabilities in organizations providing social services in the South Bohemian and South Moravian Region? 2) What are the main characteristics of the client-oriented approach to the use for work with clients with mental disabilities? In the thesis I focused on the understanding and the application of the approach used by social workers in the South Moravian and the South Bohemian Region. The research used a qualitative research strategy, using methods of questioning techniques and semi-structured interview. The sample consisted of six social workers from the organizations of the South Bohemian Region and seven social workers of the South Moravian Region that work with people with mental disabilities. Of the organizations were, I always chose only one social worker from the organization. Collected data were analysed by the method of clustering. The results showed that social workers used the client-oriented approach with the working with people with mental disabilities only in unique cases. It was revealed that a total of ten informants applied in their work with clients some theoretical approach of social work. However, only three communication partners based on client-oriented approach and these three were from the South Bohemian Region. From the testimony I noticed thatinformants from the South Bohemian Regionare better informed of the theoretical approach oriented. In the second region - South Moravian Region, social workers rather based on the experience with the target group of mentally handicapped people than from any theoretical approach. I also focused on mapping information about the approaches of Carl Rogers, primarily client-oriented approach informants who don't use approaches of Carl Rogers were interviewed. Eight out of eight surveyed knew the name of Carl Rogers and his approach focused on client or they have ever heard about it. Then I investigated whether the informants are familiar with important concepts of the approach. I mapped that eight out of eight informants are familiar with empathy and use it in their work. However, congruence is known only by one out of eight respondents and this informant was from South Bohemian Region, who does not use it in practice. Unconditional positive acceptance was known for all eleven respondents, three out of seven from the South Moravian Region and four out of four from the South Bohemian region applied it in their practice. This bachelor thesis can be used as information material for the general public and students of social work and related fields of study. Approach focused on client is known but only little used within the working with people with mental disabilities in social services, so this work can be also used as an initiative serving the greater interest of future social workers on this approach.

School social worker - Attitude of Pedagogical workers in Elementary schools
HODKOVÁ, Eva
In this Bachelor Thesis I am dealing with the topic of school social work. Its main objective was to determine the elementary school teachers' attitude towards school social workers. A partial objective was to determine the pedagogues' opinion on whether the function of a school social worker could have a positive impact on functioning of schools and a healthy social climate. Up until now, the terms School social work and School social worker have not been very well-known in the Czech Republic. They are neither well-established nor do they have any legislative backing. In isolated cases a similar position exists in some community type elementary schools. In recent years the topic of introducing school social workers has gained momentum, however, up until now, mostly on academic level. The theoretical part of my bachelor thesis is devoted to mapping the school social work throughout the world, where school social workers have been active for many years. The U.S. have the longest history of school social work, that is why most of the first chapter is devoted to the history and present of the American school social work. In the U.S. school social work dates back to 1877 when the Child Labour Act has been adopted followed later by the Compulsory Education Act. At that period the social workers' main job was to ensure that children attend schools. Later, once school social work had been officially introduced, their authorities have gradually broadened. At present their school and out-of-school activities are very extensive and according to the School Social Work Association of America they provide services to three main target groups: students, parents and family, and school staff. Besides the U.S., school social work has also evolved in Europe. The next section of the first chapter is devoted to England, Germany and Slovakia. The history of school social work in Slovakia is the shortest, however, considering our common history and similar educational systems, provides the most relevant comparison and experience. In the theory oriented chapter two I describe the Czech educational system and analyse the current situation at elementary schools. I outline how counselling services have evolved, how new working positions are being created, such as the school prevention methodologist or the education counsellor. In this chapter I also strive to describe specific activities by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports implemented in form of national projects the cost of which is partially being covered by the ESF. The projects aim to improve the educational and preventive function of schools, develop counselling services, and improve the know-how and competences of educational workers. In the practical section of my thesis I strive to uncover opinions of educational workers on establishing a new position of a school social worker. To carry out the survey I have used a qualitative research strategy and the semi-controlled interview technique. The research sample included elementary school teachers from the Vysočina region. I was able to interview a total of 21 respondents. When evaluating the interviews, I have used the tuft formation method. The results of my survey suggest that a school social worker would be a welcome addition to the team, however, it is not entirely clear whether he/she is currently needed. Considering the fact that the research was done while the "Common education" concept was being introduced at schools, the teachers did perceive the necessity of introducing other positions. To answer the partial question of my thesis, we could say, that if we had school social workers at schools, their work would have a positive impact on the overall school climate.

Social Worker as a Member of the Multidisciplinary Team in the Therapeutic Community
MÁCHOVÁ, Tereza
The present thesis is preliminary focused on the mapping and description of the scope of work of a social worker and the definition of his/her position within a multidisciplinary team of a therapeutic community. A description of the cooperation between a social worker and other members of multidisciplinary team within a therapeutic community shall be understood as a partial goal of the thesis. The bachelor thesis is divided into the theoretical part and the practical part. The theoretical part contains definitions of basic terminology hereof: a social worker, a therapeutic community and a multidisciplinary team. This way, the comprehensive theoretical frame of the issue in question has been elaborated, which establishes a starting point for the following practical part of the thesis. In accordance with the main objective of the bachelor thesis the practical part contains a definition related to the following three survey questions: 1) What is the core role of a social worker within a therapeutic community? 2) How the other members of a therapeutic community perceive the importance of social work? 3) What is the position of a social worker within multidisciplinary team of a therapeutic community? In order to perform the survey, the qualitative research strategy was applied, as well as interviewing method and a technique of sub-structured interviews. The sample group has been formed by five members of a multidisciplinary team of one selected therapeutic community. The sourced data had to be analysed using the method of cluster analysis. The survey has revealed the work of a social worker within a therapeutic community lies in particular in social agenda addressing. These are mainly the cases when a client is provided with help in the field of social contributions and benefits and also in the field of debts. A social worker shall also instruct and teach a client what are the right approaches to his/her own matters and shall help him/her to come back to ordinary life successfully. Based on the survey, it has appeared that the other team members perceive the social work as day-to-day and integral part of activities within a therapeutic community, which is then being reflected also in a therapeutic process. The social work performed at the beginning of a treatment is understood by all the workers as the most important activity. It was also confirmed that a social worker represent an integral part of multidisciplinary team of a therapeutic community. The other team members appreciate his/her contribution especially to the field of social work expert knowledge which they do not have. A social worker's role within a team is to work as a coordinator and lecturer who helps to bring an explanation related to the social work towards all the other members of a team. The contribution of the present bachelor thesis lies in the increase of up-to-now awareness related to the activities and roles of a social work within a therapeutic community. The present thesis may also contribute to extended awareness of expert and general public. The bachelor thesis may be also useful as a background document for the elaboration of a diploma thesis.

The motivation of people with mental or multiple disabilities to the integration of the protected or the open labour market
ŠTEMBERKOVÁ, Petra
This work deals with the issue of motivation of the handicapped people to work. The target group consists of people with mental or combined handicap. The theoretical part focuses on the basic terms, characteristics, description and classification of the target group. The first chapter describes the current situation, today's approach towards integration and names the documents dealing with the issue of handicapped people in regard of both work and social life. It also discusses the professional preparation and the life of adults, especially in the hotel-based institutions. The following part is devoted to characteristic features of employment of the handicapped people and the complex system of rehabilitation, as well as the means of work. These lead to gaining the maximal independence and reducing the reliance on the other people's help. The chapter underlines the importance of work and there are also the names of the subjects trying to support the employment on the protective or, ideally, the open market of work. In this regard we talk about the actions of the labor office, particularly the work rehabilitation, requalification, protected jobs or the employers' duties given by law. Then I mention socially therapeutic workshops, social business, social firm and the border tools, such as the transit programme, supported employment and Job Clubs. Some space is also devoted to the problem of unemployment. Finally, I tried to clarify the term of motivation and focused on the factors motivating a person to integrate themselves into the work process and their affecting features. In the practical part I aimed to identify the main factors motivating to work integration and employment and to find out which features affect people, their motivation and lead them to the work process. To fulfill the named tasks I used the quality approach and the half-structured interview as the method to gain all the data. I extended the interviews with fourteen adult mentally handicapped clients of two institutions and verified them by analyzing the documents to get the complex view. Gained data will be processed into the case study. According to the results of my research, handicapped people accommodated in the hotel-based institutions are well motivated to integrate themselves, to work and to get a job. The most frequent reason is the opportunity to use their personal skills. The other reasons were to earn money, help other people and find friends. On the other hand, these people lack other moving forces to drive them forward. They basically resigned and put their faith into the educators to always take care of them. Insufficient social contact and permanent educators' care make them indolent, so they do not try to find o job on their own. They were mostly made by the educators to get a job and arranged everything for them. Identification of the motivation features was not an easy task because they are completely individual, many of them were found, they are often combined and can affect people both in the positive and negative way. The most important features are the environment of the handicapped people and their educators, who take care of them. These people are also affected by the social life and their hobbies, especially when they managed to combine the job with their hobbies and, therefore, they like the job. Based on the said findings I formed two hypotheses which may lead to a following quantitative research.

Battered Woman Syndrome and Associated Social and Health Risks
JANOVSKÁ, Tereza
Domestic violence is currently one of the most common type of violence and includes all forms of physical, psychological and sexual violence. It occurs at all levels of society and it does not discriminate neither between age or intellectual layers. Domestic violence occurs in cases of women, men, children and even elderly people. It does not discriminate regarding skin colour, political or religious beliefs or the level of education. Violence perpetrated in privacy on our closest people is part of our entire society. Still the most common type of violence is the one perpetrated on women. Violence threatens health as well as overall life of the victim. Long-term consequences of violence against another person arise the battered person syndrome which is discussed in this bachelor thesis. This bachelor thesis is divided in two parts. The theoretical part is about basic characteristic of domestic violence and discusses its various characters, causes and its consequences for the victims. In this bachelor thesis you can also find an explanation of the division of roles by gender, according to which the idea of the authoritative man and the submissive woman is anchored in our society. Then the basic pillar of the whole theoretical part follows, which is battered women's syndrome itself. In this chapter and subchapter the onset and course of the syndrome is described by means of specialized literature. The end of the theoretical includes institutions and legal measures, which the Czech Republic established to help abused persons. The second part consists of the practical part, which is the main focus of the whole bachelor thesis. It consists of a drawn qualitative research, which consists of semi-structured interview with five female communication partners that are currently experiencing violence from their partner. Data were collected in a Crisis center for children and family. After theoretical description of the strategy, techniques and methodologies, the description of a sample and the research itself follows. The main goal is mapping the life situation of battered women. Research question focuses on identifying the actual subjective experience of battered women and their perception of a difficult situation. This thesis should lead to understandable infomation about victims of domestic violence and its consequences. Research results have shown that abused women grew up in conflicting families and in their childhood they recorded disputes between their parents. Furthermore battered women recorded psychological, medical and social impacts that lead to decreased self-esteem, loss of friends and becoming withdrawn. Battered women do not trust strangers, do not like to talk about their problem and they are convinced that it is beyond their power to emerge from this difficult situation, despite the fact that it is their wholeheartedly wish. The bachelor thesis could be beneficial to the education of social workers who are interested in the issue of battered people and could enrich the knowledge of the society in general.

Selected Social Determinants Of Senior´s Health Who Living In The Town Trebic
FIALOVÁ, Veronika
I set two targets. The first target was to determine whether the chosen characteristics of social situations influence on the aspect of the health of seniors. The second target was to describe health and social situation of seniors living in homes for seniors or in a home environment. I chose specific social determinant, for my work. Concretely living in household or retirement home, social support, as family and familie's relationship and retirement. Research survey was carried out via qualitative research. To obtain the data, the technique of interview was used. Some questions used in the interviews were taken from the research tool from the project COST "social deteminants of health and their affect on health of immigrants living in the Czech Republic". The research group was formed by seniors living in households and in chosen homes for seniors in the town Třebíč. The criterion for the selection of informants was age, gender, place of stay, whether they lived in their own households, or selected homes for seniors. Thirteen interviews were completed in total, which means one more than the originally presumed number. The research was conducted from mid-March to mid-April 2016. It involved 7 women and 6 men, where one woman was the head social worker in a home for seniors. After finishing the research, I think that is not completely conditional whether seniors live in their own household or a home for seniors. The most significant influece to senior's health is a social support as a family and familie's relationship, also quality of care and the overall environment and personal feelings about the place they live at and have the possibilty of realisation. Showed that retimenet is very individual, for someone it's positive and for someone it's hard.

Specific Methods of Social Work with Families in the Course of the Exercise of Parental Responsibility after Divorce
BALOUN, Ingrid
The diploma thesis deals with the specific methods of social work with a family during the post-divorce child custody trial. The goal of my thesis is to find out what methods are applied by social workers during their work with families at child custody trial. I stated the research inquiry as follows: what are the barriers identifed by social workers during their work with families undergoing a post-divorce child custody trial? As for the empirical part of the thesis, I adopted the method of qualitative research in the form of partially structured interviews with social workers. The interviewed sample consists of twelve social workers who were at the time engaged in post-divorce child custody trials. Two main critierions were set for selecting the twelve interviewees - the first criterion being that the social workers must be currently working with families during a post-divorce child custody trial, and the second being that all the social workers have been working for an institution for social and legal protection of children for at least one year. The research has brought the following outcomes: the social workers in question mostly adopt the task-oriented approach as well as the anti-oppressive approach. During a conversation with clients the most commonly used method is active listening. With children, it would be the drawing method. On my way to reaching the goal of my thesis I identified a social workers related problem: half the interviewees did not know what methods there are in the field of social work. Most interviewees said that the biggest barrier in their work is the client who is under the influence of alcohol or drugs and also one that is aggressive. The thesis identified some demerits of social workers as well as their seniors, for instance the failing to follow the norms, and could, hopefully help them to realize these flaws and retrieve them in the future.

Social Exclusion at Senior Homes
STEJSKALOVÁ, Martina
This thesis deals with the social exclusion of senior citizens living in retirement homes. Each year there is an increase in the number of senior citizens which results in larger necessity of social services of live-in facilities. These facilities provide senior citizens with complex care incl. accommodation and board. In these facilities certain factors can occur that could deepen social exclusion. The risk of social exclusion is going up if the autonomy of senior citizens is being restricted and their vital human needs are not respected. In the area of live-in services it is crucial to view every senior citizen as a unique human being in the bio-psycho-socio-spiritual context and tailor the care to their specific needs. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on objectification of the terms which are based on technical literature and are important for understanding the mentioned issues as well. The chapters address the issues of the ageing process and the old age, periodization of the old age, distinctive changes in the old age, autonomy in relation to the old age, social services for senior citizens in the legislative framework with detailed focus on retirement homes, social exclusion and economic, political and social dimension with regard to the old age. The last chapter of the theoretical part aims at the retirement home in which the research survey has been conducted. At the request of the management of the retirement home and with respect to the ethical aspects of the survey the name of the facility is not stated in this thesis, however, the name Retirement home XY is used. The goal of the empirical part of this thesis is to map the factors which influence social exclusion of senior citizens in the chosen retirement home. The empirical part is then focused on finding the answer to the main research question. Three partial research questions have been determined in order to answer the main research question. For obtaining the necessary data the strategy of qualitative research a surveying method including the technique of semi-structured interview has been selected. The semi-structured interview has been carried out with nine inhabitants of the Retirement home XY who have been chosen on the basis of criteria of quota intentional selection. Quotas for research surveys have been set as follows: The resident of the Retirement home XY who has lived there for the time period of at least 24 months, the resident of the Retirement home XY who draws care allowance in the I. or II. level and the willingness to cooperate. The gained data have been evaluated by the method of creation of clusters, namely on the grounds of the common traits/features. The final data is introduced in compliance with the particular partial research questions. As emerged from the research, communication partners with movement difficulties do not have any contact with the surrounding environment. There is a lack of walks in the neighborhood. It has also been discovered that there is a shortage of excursions. Communication partners see more leisure time. Furthermore, the research has shown that the amount of contact with the immediate family and extended family has decreased. In the area of finance they do not see any considerable changes though some communication partners cannot afford to pay for the whole stay. They seem to be content with the board, after the chef has been changed, only some communication partners would welcome to have their dinner at a later time. Out of means of transport they make use of ambulance car predominantly. They feel neither need to transport themselves anywhere nor run errands. They appreciate the availability of health care, however, a wish has emerged that the general practitioner would visit the Retirement home XY at least twice a week. The results of the empirical part serve as feedback for the management of the Retirement home XY and can contribute to the improvement of the quality of the provided services.
