F. V. Habermann: Philomela pia, sive missae sex

This bachelor thesis deals with the mass cycle Philomela pia by František Václav Habermann (1706-1783), a composer being nowadays mentioned primarily in connection with G. F. Handel, who used some of Habermann's music fragments in his own works. The paper summarizes the present knowledge of Habermann's biography and works, listing all the source materials of this mass cycle as well, but the central focus is on two analytical chapters. The first of them attempts to cover the basic parameters of Habermann's masses and puts them to the Central European as well as Italian musical context, the second one contains a detailed study of the technique and the extent of Handel's reworkings of Habermann's music, together with a comparison of the compositional techniques of both composers. New German Borrowings in the Czech Language

The aim of the thesis New German Borrowings in the Czech Language is a confirmation of the importance of language contacts in Czech and German. The work demonstrates that acceptance of German lexical units into Czech language is a productive way of enriching its vocabulary. The use of German borrowings in different kinds of utterances and their frequency analysis show that language speakers are starting to see the position of germanisms in Czech in a neutral way, thus not negatively, as was the case in the past. I deal with the analysis of foreign language lexical units from the integral-adaptation, semantic and frequency point of view. The method of my research is targeted excerption of newspapers, where you can see how the new German borrowings are used more and more in contemporary Czech vocabulary. I focus on productivity of use of different borrowed parts of speech. In addition to the various parts of speech I also describe hybrid composites and deproprial expressions. The amount of the new German borrowings, which are collected in neologism exceptions database, demonstrates that acceptance of German words and word formation elements is an important and productive linguistic process of creating of neologisms.

Czech Reality in Chinese Language of the Newsletter of Chinese Living in the Czech Republic (Jiéhuá tōngxùn)

This thesis is focused on Czech realia in Chinese language in a magazine called Newsletter of the Chinese Living in the Czech Republic Jiéhuá tōngxùn 捷华通讯. The analysis of the collected material is introduced by chapters about Chinese lexicon, word- formation and loan-words. Material referring to the Czech realia from selected issues of the magazine is divided into theme groups. Material is analyzed and compared with the common Chinese lexical system. Material includes not only loan-words, but also common Chinese words, which are used for describing Czech realia. At the end of the thesis, there are described some tendencies in terming Czech realia. Collected material is in the attachment of this thesis and could be used as a dictionary. Dutch Language of the 21st Century. Changes in Vocabulary

This diploma thesis aims to analyse the lexical aspect of the contemporary Dutch language, particularly the influence of foreign languages on the state of Dutch advertising language. A short summary of the changes in language throughout the 20th century is described in the first part of the thesis. The chapters which follow are dedicated to the current specifics of the Dutch vocabulary and the current possibilities of its expanding, including the problematics,of lexical borrowings in Dutch. The specific aspects of advertising and its language also have to be introduced because of the possible consequences on the results of the analysis. In the practical part of the thesis, the own corpus, methodology and hypothesis are presented on the basis of the described secondary literature. Finally, the corpus analysis follows where all relevant results of the lexical analysis are discussed, both qualitatively and partly quantitatively.

The gender of French nouns in -a

This bachelor thesis deals with the gender of French nouns in -a. The theoretical part introduces general informations and characterisations of substantival lexical cathegory and grammatical gender. This part also describes priciples of French lexicon extension, introduces history of French loanwords transmission, characterizes generally loanword and other related phenomenons. The practical part is focused on the main research, which is realized by excerption from French explanatory dictionary le Petit Robert. The outcomes are semantically as well as etymologically described and analyzed. Gender fluctuation analysis and frequency examination are based on French corpus FRANTEXT. The end of this study briefly presents nonlexicalized neologisms which were found by visual inspection during the research. The nominal gender in Italian: gender assignment in borrowings from English

This thesis is dedicated to the problems of gender assignment to English loan words in Italian. The thesis is divided into two parts. In the first, theoretical part, attention is paid to the definition of gender category in Italian, to the rules describing the formation of gender in Italian and then the gender assignment rules for English loan words are presented in detail. The second, analytical part, is dedicated to the research which is carried out via Italian text corpus itWaC. The application of the presented rules for gender assignment is being verified on a sample of English loan words.The aim of the thesis is to introduce the problems of gender assignment to English loan words in Italian, to provide a detailed overview of the individual rules for gender assignment and to verify how much are these rules observed in practice.

Spoken Danish in the Contemporary Danish Literature and its Translation into Czech

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the methods used by translators when translating spoken language in contemporary Danish fiction into Czech. In the first chapter, the Czech translation tradition is defined. This tradition influences Czech usage and tendencies. The second chapter introduces the features of stylized language reflected in literature written in Czech. As will be shown, these are mainly lexicological and morphological features and related stylistical means. The following chapters are devoted to the analysis of individual features of stylized language and their translation into Czech. Discussed are loanwords, diminutives, expletives, morphological changes, realia and politeness. The translated units are compared with Czech translation tradition and literature written in Czech.

New germanisms in the Czech language

I called my Bachelor's thesis New Germanisms in Czech language. The aim of this thesis is to point out borrowings from German language which have not been integrated to the lexicon of Czech language, and to prove that borrowing from German language is still productive way of enrichment of lexicon nowadays. I deal with the analysis of foreign language lexical units from the integral-adaptive and semantic point of view. I compare newly-adopted lexems with those already recorded in monolingual dictionaries and dictionaries of neologisms. My research is based on aimed excerption of daily press, during which I observe how are neologisms, specifically new germanisms, asserted in the present Czech lexicon. Furthermore, I aim to productivity of using of individual borrowed word classes. The amount of new germanisms integrating to Czech lexicon evidences that borrowing of foreign lexical units is important and productive language process of formation of neologisms.

Spanish Language in Printed Advertising: Borrowings and Calques

Spanish language in printed advertisement: borrowed words and calques The aim of this work is to deal with the borrowed and calqued words in the present Spanish language. The work is divided into theoretical part and research. In the theoretical part there is dealt the topic of advertisement and in continuation the language the advertisement uses. Separate chapters are dedicated to the specific phenomena. In research, examples from the authentic material are being dealt and compared with the synchronic corpus CREA. The results of the analysis are used to explain the hypothesis whether the contemporary Spanish language uses borrowed and calqued words in the field of printed advertisement, whether such words are numerous, what language they come from, and what fields they appear in the most numerous way.
