Vliv antropogenní činnosti na znečištění vybraných vodních nádrží v povodí Jordánu.
ŠÍMOVÁ, Barbora
The master thesis deals with influence of system of water reservois and farming on suface water quality in catchment Košín stream in the Tabor region. There were investigated effect on suface water quality of several watercourses flowing through farmland with markedly different land cover, farming, size of catchment area and different water reservoirs. The fundamental hydrochemical parameters such as content of nutrient, inorganic and organic carbon and undissolved substances were monitored. The water samples were collected from permanent sampling points during the growing season. The investigated compounds were determined in the laboratory by titration, gravimetry and spectrophotometry. Mean, median, interquartile range were determined within the basic descriptive statistics and the data were statistically processed by nonparametric tests. Results showed particularly significant influence of the littoral vegetation and wide strips of tree vegetation as an effective filter, which prevent pollution of surface water by nutrient runoff. In some cases, the land cover was reflected positive impact of vegetation on reducing contamination of the water above the level specified by legislation, therefore vegetation is great importance in the fight pollution of waterways. From the obtained data it is obvious that influence of anthropogenic pollution on surface water is very important, but appropriate land cover can minimalize this impact.
Carbamazepine - a study on the input to surface waters
Hromádková, Lucie ; Fuksa, Josef (advisor) ; Cajthaml, Tomáš (referee)
Anticonvulsant carbamazepine is a pharmaceutical, which is necessary to be taken continuously. Moreover carbamazepine and its metabolites are resistant to microbial degradation and sorption onto sludge in present municipal wastewater treatment plants. Therefore carbamazepine and its metabolites pass through WWTP and are constantly discharged to surface waters. Concentrations of carbamazepine measured in surface waters are too low to cause acute toxicological effects, but chronic toxicological effects or synergic effects with other pharmaceuticals cannot be excluded. Due to its physico-chemical properties carbamazepine is recalcitrant to degradation in surface waters and in soil, thus it infiltrates through bedrock to ground water. So far there is not enough information on behaviour and effects of metabolites of carbamazepine in surface waters. Besides carbamazepine, also other pharmaceuticals are nowadays often detected in surface and ground water and in the soil. Furthermore, as the population grows the consumption of pharmaceuticals increases as does their input into environment. However, given the risks, which pharmaceuticals in the environment entail, it is necessary to reduce additional input of these micropolutants into environment. As pharmaceuticals can enter the environment by many pathways, there...
Anomalous occurences of arsenic in natural waters in the Czech Republic
Rodovská, Zuzana ; Drahota, Petr (advisor) ; Redlich, Aleš (referee)
This bachelor thesis reviews the data on the distribution of arsenic in surface and underground natural waters of the Czech Republic. In addition the thesis focuses on the occurrence of anomalous arsenic concentrations and tries to detect sources of arsenic contamination. Results of the thesis suggest high quality of the surface and groundwater in the Czech Republic with respect to arsenic. Its anomalous concentrations in the natural waters in Czech Republic have been rarely documented only in areas with strong anthropogenic impact and in areas affected by historical mining operations. Keywords: Arsenic, toxicity, contamination, surface water, groundwater, Czech Republic
Monitoring of selected drugs in surface water
Langová, Jana ; Benešová, Libuše (advisor) ; Křenková, Marcela (referee)
This literature review based on recent works, deals with surface water above all river water, focusing on occurrence and detected concentration of pharmaceuticals. Targeted substances were selected according to four moulds: consumption in the Czech Republic - Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, resistance in the environment - antiepileptic carbamazepin, possible environmental risks - estrogens and according to published findings of these drugs. The occurrence of pharmaceuticals was not only note in the surface water but in the drinking water too. Through this review, it appears that the pharmaceutical risk must be considered. Key words: PPCPs, pharmaceuticals, surface water, NSAIDs, carbamazepin, estrogens
Photochemical formation of the low-molecular-weight organic acids
KOVAŘÍKOVÁ, Michaela
This thesis deals with photochemical decomposition of dissolved organic matter (DOM) in surface waters. Intermediate products were identified using HPLC separation technique and the kinetics of formation and decomposition was modeled in a system unaffected by the presence of bacteria. The influence of various factors such as pH and age of DOM was tested.
Determination of drug residuals using separation methods
Vašíčková, Petra ; Opatřilová, Radka (referee) ; Vávrová, Milada (advisor)
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory substances became a very frequently used and constantly evolved group of the drugs, particularly in a human medicine. The risk of their penetration into the environment, especially to the water environment, is rising during the recent years. The diploma thesis is focused on a selection of appropriate separation method and optimization of analytical procedure for the identification and determination of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in sewage and surface waters. Salicylic acid, ketoprofen, diclofenac and ibuprofen were chosen from the wide range of NSAIDs as the most widespread agents of this drugs group in the medical practice. The method was optimized and elaborated using the model water samples. This method was used for determination of the analytes contained in the real water samples. Waste water samples were taken from the large-scale wastewater treatment plant in Brno-Modřice and surface water samples were taken from the Highlands river Křetínka. Solid phase extraction (SPE) was used for the real samples treatment and preconcentration, the determination was performed using the high performance liquid chromatography with mass spectroscopy method (LC-MS).
Residuals of pharmaceuticals in waters
Vašíčková, Petra ; Čáslavský, Josef (referee) ; Vávrová, Milada (advisor)
This bachelor thesis focuses on studying synthetic pharmaceuticals spreading into the aquatic ecosystem. Ketoprofen and diclofenac, non-steroidal analgetics were studied. The aim of this work is to develop both a suitable analytic method for analytes isolation from a given matrix and an optimal technique for identification and determination of analgetics residues in waters. Solid phase extraction (SPE) was employed as the separation method for isolation of given pharmaceuticals and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with diode-array detection was used for their determination. The optimised and validation method was used to model samples of water. Obtained results were evaluated and their interpretation was done.

Studie možných zdrojů znečištění na vodním toku Veverka
Gross, Karel
The aim of the bachelor thesis "Study of potential sources of pollution in the watercourse Veverka" is to determine the sources of contamination based on field survey of the area. This area was chosen in agreement with Povodím Moravy s.p., which solves a long-term project Čisté povodí Svratky. The theoretical part focuses on the importance of water resources for humans. It defines the concept of surface flowing waters, examines the composition of water, its properties, sources of pollution, the possibility of water purification and regulation of water management. The practical part describes the selected site survey to identify sources of pollution that can affect water quality. In the field, selected characteristics were measured and sampled for laboratory analysis. The results of field measurements and laboratory were processed in the results and discus-sion section to clear tables. On the basis of the results were discussed sources of pollution and measures designed to improve water quality.
