Analysis of meat demand in the Czech Republic
Dlasková, Karolína ; Ščasný, Milan (advisor) ; Polák, Petr (referee)
Meat and meat products form the highest share of Czech household expenditures for food. This thesis offers a complex view on the Czech meat market and studies in detail the determinants of meat demand. A review of the most frequently used demand models is included, from which the least squares log-log model is used for empirical analysis. The core of this thesis is the estimation of price and income elasticities of demand for various types of meat based on statistical data of household accounts from the years 2000 - 2012. The estimates are, with the exception of the price elasticity for beef, which equals 0.13, consistent with previous studies. Within the examined period, households manifest unitary income elasticity and own price elasticity of demand for meat equal to -1.2. The temporal evolution of elasticities varies for different types of meat. Important socio-demographical aspects influencing the demand for meat, such as age, education, whether the household is led by a female, and others, are also analysed.
Stanovení emisí tuhých znečišťujících látek v chovech drůbeže
MAŠEK, Jiří
This bachelor´s thesis focuses on problems with a concentration of dust participles in poultry farming, specifically broiler farming. Data for this study were collected by taking measurements in The Cooperative Farm Batelov. DustTrak II 8530 monitored dust participles for 24 hours every 2 seconds. The measurement was done during the third and the last week it means the fifth week of poultry´s fattening.
MMěření emisí tuhých znečišťujících látek v intenzivních chovech drůbeže
ŠONKA, Jan
There is a large number of contaminants in the air coming from agricultural activities that affects our environment. One of the major producers of contaminants is caused by poultry farming. These agents can be called a carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide and dust. The aim of this thesis is to determine the value of PM10 concentration in poultry farming. These particles can damage not only animals' health but also the one of farm staff, because they are able to get behind the respiratory tract. Measurements were carried out in a poultry farm in Sudoměřice u Bechyně according to valid methodology by measuring the emissions of dust particles in poultry for the integrated pollution prevention and control. The device used for measuring purposes was DUST TRAK 8530 II. The resulting values were compared with the ones that are listed in table 5.15 on page 157 of the document Final TWG meeting for review of the IRPP BREF.
Měření a vyhodnocení přírůstků zvířat a produkce emisních plynů ve vybraném provozu s chovem drůbeže při využití fytoaditiv v krmivu
HOMOLKOVÁ, Eva
Agriculture is a sector whose activities significantly affect all components of the environment. Intensive livestock production produces a large amount of harmful waste substances that have a negative impact on the individual components of the environment. The aim of this work is to measure and evaluate the impact of phytogenic additives in the production of emission gases in poultry farming by using the device INNOVA 1412. The measurement was carried out in the research center of the company DELACON Biotechnik CR, Stošíkovice na Louce.
Emise tuhých znečišťujících látek v chovu drůbeže
JANOUŠEK, Tomáš
Agricultural activities produce a number of dangerous wastes affecting the environment. One is powder produced in livestock production, in particular in stables factory farms. Particulate emissions from livestock buildings are particularly important for the closest neighborhood stables. It is the subject of conflicts between farmers and their neighbors. The source of dust in livestock buildings are mainly food (fine particles modified cereals and dried plants) renegade animal skin particles, urine crystals and particles of feces. The aim of this work is to determine the concentration of dust in the factory farming of chickens for meat. Secondly, the aim is to compare BAT (Best Available Technique - Best Available Technology) technology used in stables with the reference document BREF (Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control - Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control). Measurements were carried out on a Farma U lesa in Sudoměřice u Bechyně on a poultry farm in Horní Miletín.
Influence of different types of broiler litter on their welfare
JANA, Václav
In our country and in the world poultry meat has a higher demand because of the price, taste, simple preparation and variety of cooking. Largely broiler are produced for human consumption of meat. Their time of growing is getting shorter, because of their death-rate, we want to provide them the best quality of their living. The subject of this bachelor´s thesis is to compare two different kinds of litterin 2014 on the farm in Čekanice and their effect on the chicken broiler welfare. Technology of living, facilities, kinds of litter and dividing welfare. Comparison of litter took place on the farm in Čekanice.
Salmonella infection in poultry and the national eradication programme
NOVOTNÁ, Marie
The topic of the thesis is the incidence of salmonella infections in poultry and National Recovery Programs that were established in the Czech Republic on the 1stofJanuary 2007 under the European legislation, specifically by Regulation (EC) No 2160/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council from the 17th of November 2003 about the reduction of Salmonella bacteria and other agents of zoonosis in the food chain. Currently five recovery programs oriented on the reduction of Salmonella are taking place in the Czech Republic. The basis of the programs is monitoring of Salmonella incidence in breeding via taking of samples. These programs were established in order to reduce the amount of cases of human Salmonella deseases because the poultry products are the most common source of the human infections. The programs could be considered effective. For this effectiveness is important to respect the principles of correct hygiene practices.
Comprehensive evaluation of best available techniques in the selected operation with poultry rearing and assessment of their economic impact.
JANOUŠEK, Tomáš
From agricultural activities produce a number of hazardous waste affecting the environment. One of them is ammonia produced by animals that are trying to reduce. The aim of this study is to compare the concentration of ammonia in barns with chickens for meat using electrochemically treated water. Furthermore, the aim of this work is to compare the BAT technology used in stables with BAT reference document and perform economic evaluation. Measurements were carried out on the farm Čekanice.
Market of selected organic commodities (organic meat)
LEŠTINOVÁ, Iva
This thesis deals with the organic livestock production in South Bohemian region. The aim of the thesis was to analyze the South Bohemian organic meat production, production of eggs and honey and distribution of the biocommodities. Through the processing of data from the database IAEI and questionnaire survey, conducted at the level of organic farmers farming in the South Bohemian region with a valid certificate for meat production, development and the current market situation of organic meat production were assessed in the South Bohemian region.
Environmental aspects of eggs production from point of view of greenhouse gasses emissions
KALKUŠ, Václav
The aim of the study is to compare poultry farming focused on either conventional or organic egg production. Detailed information has been gathered in particular organizations by the means of questionnaires and provided technical literature. We have concentrated on the monitoring of the emission impact on the environment, caused especially by feed material consumption, electricity consumption and farm dung management. Based on the gathered data the emission burden was calculated by the means of Ecoinvent database using CO2 equivalent. We have compared the individual systems of management and evaluated greenhouse gasses production. The main target of the thesis was to find out whether the production of organic eggs has smaller impact on the environment than the conventional one.
