Selected Central European left-wing political parties in the context of the institutionalization theory
Kačírek, Lukáš ; Stauber, Jakub (advisor) ; Perottino, Michel (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with problematics regarding the theory of institutionalization and its application on certain political subjects in Central Europe. The thesis is based on multi-case study which analyses two political parties - Slovak SMER-SD and Czech ČSSD, using political science concept of institutionalization. The main objective is to analyse both parties since their foundation and to obtain results regarding these theoretical questions: 1) Is the strong institutionalization the main reason for longevity of social democratic parties? 2) What are the similarities and differences between each political party in level of their institutionalization? The thesis uses theories of institutionalization by Robert Harmel, Lars Svåsand and Hilmar Mjelde to acquire answers to these questions. Theories of institutionalization are then supplemented by Jakub Stauber's criteria; each dimension of the theory is further elaborated. At first, both political systems are introduced in which concerned parties operate, then the thesis follows up with approach of selected authors towards theory of institutionalization. Lastly, the thesis focuses on the research itself and inspection and comparison of final results.

Likely voter model in July 2021
Pilnáček, Matouš
In a survey conducted by Public Opinion Research Centre in July 2021, we investigated how people trust political Parties and whether they are willing to take part in elections to the Chamber of Deputies. In the press release, there are two different types of information: the likely voter model and the party preferences. The likely voter model indicates the anticipated result of hypothetical elections to the Chamber of Deputies at the time of conducting the survey. The party preferences give us information about public sympathy for political parties in the group of citizens who have voting right, and there is also included a part of citizens who will not take part in elections, or they do not know who to vote for.

KDU-ČSL from the point of view of the political parties theory
Štamberk, Ondřej ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Stauber, Jakub (referee)
The diploma thesis focuses on the application of selected classical theoretical concepts on the example of the Christian Democratic Union - Czechoslovak People's Party to assess the extent to which these concepts are relevant in today's political science research. Theoretical concepts are introduced in the first chapter of the theoretical part. The second chapter offers a summary of the historical development of Christian Democrats from their foundation to the last parliamentary elections in 2021. In the practical part, the theories are applied to the KDU-ČSL, and the following chapter further introduces and analyzes electoral results of the party during the existence of the Czech Republic, as well as its electorate. The aim is to find characteristic patterns that are unique in the case of KDU-ČSL compared to other Czech political parties and to answer why this is the case and what consequences for further development it has for this party. As a result, I managed to apply all the theories presented and come up with new points and characteristics concerning the development of election results and the KDU-ČSL voter base. Keywords KDU-ČSL, political parties, Christian democracy, cleavages, electoral geography, elections, party structure Title KDU-ČSL from the point of view of the political parties theory
Representation of women in parliamentary political parties in the Czech Republic and in France since 2017
Součková, Alžběta ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Guasti, Petra (referee)
This thesis focuses on parliamentary political parties in the Czech Republic and in France in the period since the 2017 legislative elections in both countries. It looks at the different attitudes and approaches of political parties towards women's representation. In addition to the historical context of the two countries and each political party, it also presents the long-term factors that influence the representation of women in political parties. Such factors include a country's political culture, the existence of women's party organizations, or the intra-party setting of quotas for women's representation. Institutional arrangements set from outside are also an important factor, with the parity law having impact on French political parties. The following analysis of different political environments attempts to capture these and other factors affecting women's representation and their practical manifestations. First, the party positions in the period under study are analyzed, followed by the candidate lists for the 2017 legislative elections and the results of these elections, i.e. the ratio of male and female occupancy of parliamentary seats and senior positions. Next, the elections to the upper chambers and women running for the office of the President of the Republic are approached. The...
The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the digitalization of Czech political parties
Alexová, Magdaléna ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Brunclík, Miloš (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to assess the impact of the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic on the process of digitalisation of Czech political parties. The first part will provide the necessary insight into the issue of digitization of political parties and the tools that parties can use in it, including their consequences. The second part will focus on the nine most important Czech political parties (ANO 2011, ČSSD, KDU-ČSL, KSČM, ODS, Piráti, SPD, STAN, TOP 09), on the elements of their current digitization and the changes they have resorted to during the Covid-19 pandemic. We find that there are significant differences between the parties in their ability to successfully digitalize, which has manifested itself during a pandemic by their ability or inability to adapt flexibly to new conditions, adopt new digital tools and thus keep the party running effectively. The thesis will answer whether these differences, and thus the way in which the parties coped with the Covid-19 pandemic, are related to their structure and organization.
Comparative Analysis of Political Parties' Cooperation within Electoral Coalitions in the Czech Republic
Kutman, Ondřej ; Stauber, Jakub (advisor) ; Michal, Aleš (referee)
The bachelor's thesis maps electoral coalitions in the Czech republic on parliamentary and regional level. It unravels which parties are most common amongst these coalitions and clarifies their ideological position. This is based on the Party family theory, which is closely described in the theoretical part of this thesis. This part also includes an explanation for the concept of electoral coalitions. Methodology of this thesis is based on data published by the Czech Statistical Office. The practical section of the thesis uses this data to discover the frequency of occurence of political parties in electoral coalitions. Furthermore, this section clarifies the success rate of these coalitions. The results of the research helped to create two datasets where the parties are sorted by the frequency of occurence. The research led to a conclusion that the existence of electoral coalitions is not strongly affected by the ideological differences between the parties of the coalitions. Also, cooperation of centre-right parties with both liberal and conservative elements of political agenda is quite common amongst these coalitions.
