Use of Educational CD-ROMs in Science and Biology Teaching at Lower and Upper Secondary Schools
Vačkářová, Kateřina ; Pavlasová, Lenka (referee) ; Jedličková, Tereza (referee)
Information and communication technologies (ICT) are a daily part of everyone's life. Therefore in this work I continue in topic of my thesis, in which I created and verified in practice educational program (software) "Microbiology". The aim of this work was to create, publish and verify in practice educational programs for teaching microbiology, mycology and protozoology at lower and secondary schools. I tried to unify terms used in these scientific areas and to create high-quality sources of information. Due to its easy availability (CD-ROM, internet), interactive sections, a number of images, texts, experiments, fun games, quizzes and other attractions educational programs can enhance traditional teaching mechanism of biology in all types of schools. This work includes a content analysis of biologically oriented educational programs currently available in the Czech Republic. It describes my own programs ("Microbiology", "Mycology" and "Protozoology") and processes the results of evaluation of programs by teacher lower and upper secondary schools. Teachers' opinions I statistically evaluated using questionnaires. The results show that lower secondary schools teachers use educational programs more often than upper secondary schools teachers. It is also showed that the most teachers use education...
Formation of realgar at the Mokrsko
Rodovská, Zuzana ; Drahota, Petr (advisor) ; Filippi, Michal (referee)
Summary: Throughout the world there are many places with a high concentration of arsenic in water. In the Czech Republic is such a place the area of Mokrsko, where arsenic in groundwater reaches the values, which are well above recommended limits for drinking water. On the studied locality arsenic is bound to secondary minerals containing iron; however, in the reducing conditions of the fluvial sediments arsenic is bound to newly-formed realgar accumulations associated with organic matter. Aim of this diploma thesis was to characterize realgar from this locality and try to determine the way and conditions of its origin. For the purpose of research, realgar and pore- water have been sampled, using lysimeters and rhizon samplers. Specimen of realgar was characterized by numerous standard techniques (XRD, SEM, TEM, chemical and isotopic composition). Water samples have been analysed for As, F and S species. Analysis of realgar using XRD, SEM and TEM techniques confirmed the presence of nanocrystalline realgar, forming clusters and needle like aggregates. Domination of divalent iron and reduced form of As3+ (4,3-7,3 mg/L) in similar concentrations has been observed within the pore- water samples. The concentration of dissolved sulfide was very low (cca 30 µg/L), on the other hand, content of sulphate was always...
Processing of Images of Petri Dishes
Adámek, Jakub ; Hradiš, Michal (referee) ; Zemčík, Pavel (advisor)
This master thesis deals with image processing of Petri dishes. The first part is about terms and procedures in laboratory practice. The following part is about devices and algorithms for image analysis of Petri dishes. The second part is about draft and implementation of own colony counting application, which was developed in cooperation with the microbiological laboratory. The application is developed for mobile devices running Android OS. The master thesis also includes the design and creation of two lighting units, which uses as an accessory for better results in the analysis of Petri dishes. In conclusion are presented results, compared lighting units and various types of mobile devices, on which the application was tested.

Zoonotic Aspects of Edible Insects in the Czech Republic
Coufalová, Eva ; Lukešová, Daniela (advisor) ; Jiří, Jiří (referee)
As a population in a world rises, and as conventional breeding seems to be as terrible as the worst nightmare, there appears necessity to find some of alternative sources of "meat". Yes, it's also good opportunity for vegetarians to add every essential amino acid to their diet. Entomophagy can be helpful with improving and ensuring food safety and food security, which is related with new world conception One Health and food -- borne diseases. Potential of insects can be well utilized, but only if they are farming properly, with right biosecurity plans and keeping sufficient hygiene and correct storage. Deeper we go in exploring insects and its good side, perfect nutritional value (FAO, 2010) we also strike on potentional hazards of its consumption. This work will be focused on microbiology (mainly fungi) and parasitology (nematodes) of given specimen in Indonesia, compared with Czech studies.
Characterisation of the Physical Chemical Processes Using the Fractal and Harmonic Analysis
Radiators and microbial microclimate
Raputa, Pavel ; Rubinová, Olga (referee) ; Počinková, Marcela (advisor)
This master thesis describes the design of heating in a new one-storey nursery school in Kuřim. The heating systém is designed as a low-temperature systém with a forced circulation of water and a horizontal piping. Three kinds of radiators are used in the design. The panel radiators, tube radiators and free-standing convectors. In this project there are two varinats of the heat source for buliding. The first variant is two gas condensing boilers and the second variant is two heat pumps of an air/water split design. The disign includes air heating in the unit of air conditioning and hot water preparation. The experimental part of the master thesis is focused on microbial microclimate in buildings and radiators contamination by microorganisms. It contains four different experiments, their realization, results and evaluation.
Factors affecting quality of raw cow´s milk during milking and storage at farm
HAVRÁNKOVÁ, Iveta
Milk is one of the few products which we can use for direct consumption. Not only is it important for human nutrition as a raw product, but it also finds an increasing usage in food industry. The quality of milk is affected by various factors. This work deals only with the most important ones, which have an influence on the nutrition value as well as on the microbiological and hygienic quality of milk.
