Development of an Application Suitable for Storing Results of Speech Therapy

Thesis is focused on software development. The developed application is for speech therapist practise and its main function is storing information about clients and their therapies. The first part of the paper is about systems development life cycle and theoretical step by step approach for software development. The second part of the thesis speaks about development of an application called ANDI, which serves to speech therapists. This software is able to store data about clients and their sessions. Program can also be used for long-term observation of client progress. Data are insert through electronic forms and outputs are presented in multiple charts.
School maturity and preparedness from the point of view of speech therapists

This diploma thesis focuses on school maturity and preparedness from the perspective of speech-language therapists. The theoretical part focuses on the preschool child, his characteristics, and growth in all areas, including speech. Furthermore, it introduces speech disorders in preschool children by describing what impaired communication skills are and also discusses the most common speech disorders among preschool children. The thesis also presents information about speech therapy prevention, stating what its principles are, and also introduces preschool education in the context of speech therapy prevention. The last chapter deals with the child's preparation for entering the first grade, explains the difference between school maturity and school preparedness and introduces school immaturity and school deferrals. The practical part is prepared with the help of a qualitative research investigation, where a structured interview with open questions was used. The respondents consisted of speech therapists working in the health or education department. A total of 12 interviews were conducted. Speech therapy intervention in institutional education

The diploma thesis on the topic "Speech therapy intervention in institutional education" deals with the issue of implementation of speech therapy intervention for children growing up in institutional education and requiring speech therapy. The individual chapters of the theoretical part focus on speech and its functions; describe the ontogenetic development of speech, impaired communication ability, and briefly characterise different types of impairment. The theoretical part deals with the speech therapy intervention in its entirety, i.e. diagnostics, therapy, and prevention. It also includes a short insight into the speech therapy intervention system in other countries. Lastly, the theoretical part of the work focuses on the area of substitute educational care and describes its influence on the development of the child. The practical part aimed to find out information about the implementation of speech therapy in selected institutional education facilities in Prague and the Central Bohemian Region. Jana Horynová Title: Stimulation of swallowing within PNF concept in pacient with acquired brain injury A swallowing disorder often occurs as a complication in acquired brain injury diagnosis. In more serious cases it can constitute even life-threatening condition, primarily due to the risk of aspiration and possilbe subsequent development of an inflammatory lung disease. This thesis deals with a possibility of therapeutic influencing of neurogenic dysphagia with utilization of elements of the concept of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation - PNF. Contrary to the fact that exercise on the PNF basis to influence dysphagia isn't used frequently in clinical practice, it represents highly effective and for the therapist easily managable method of therapy. The practical part contains a case history of patients with dysphagia, to whom the therapy on the PNF basis was applied. Utilization of Elkonin's Method of Phonemic Awareness in Children with Speech Fluency Disorders

The topic of this bachelor's thesis is the possibility of utilization of Elkonin's method of phonemic awareness in children with speech fluency disorders. The theoretical part focuses on general definition of communication and its developement since conception, furthermore it deals with specifics of language levels. Attention is also paid to pre-school children and description of their speech. The last brief chapter characterizes the nature of communication dissabilities in general. Out of existing communication disabilities the theoretical part focuses in detail on fluency Disorders as well namely stuttering and cluttering, their definition, etiology, diagnosis and treatment. Finally the last part describes the topic of phonological skills and Elkonin's method which develops said skills. The empirical part is realized in the form of qualitative research and it is based on analysis of phonemic awareness in observed children before and after the training. Anamnestic data of individual children are introduced as well as direct observation of the training process and subsequent evaluation. Development of the child's communication skills from the parents' point of view

The diploma thesis in speech therapy deals with the issue of children's speech development from the parents' point of view. The first chapter is devoted to the theoretical definition of communication itself and explains the difference between language and speech. At the end of the introductory chapter, the communication process is described and verbal and nonverbal communication is also defined. The second chapter of the theoretical part is focused on the development of speech, which is divided into the preparatory period and stages of one's own speech development. The chapter also includes the development of speech from the perspective of language levels, including the factors that affect it. The conclusion of the theoretical part is devoted to speech development disorders. Within the empirically oriented part of the diploma thesis, the main goal was set, the intention of which was to find out whether parents are interested in the development of speech in their offspring and what importance they attach to this issue. Premature birth as a cause of communication disabilities

The diploma thesis is focused on the issue of a speech therapy. It deals with premature birth in connection with communication disorder. The first part describes premature birth, mental, motor and speech development of premature babies which will be compared with the development of intact children. The diploma thesis also analyzes level and possibilities of care for premature babies with communication disorder. The second part deals with case studies and interviews using qualitative research methods. The research involved respondents aged 4 to 6 years who were born before the 34th week of pregnancy and their parents.
