Study of the influences that affect the reactivity of a limestone
Sklenářová, Dorothea ; Bureš,, Jaroslav (referee) ; Dvořák, Karel (advisor)
This thesis is a part of grant assignment and focuses on the effect and properties of input material, limestone, on reactivity and speed of decarbonation. The aim of this thesis is to find the effect of chemical composition, petrography, genesis and diagenesis, porosity and microstructure of limestones on reactivity and speed and profile of decarbonation. The experimental part of thesis describes analysis of chosen limestone samples regarding porosity, reactivity by Bischof-Uhde method and process of decarbonation of calcite in term of crystallinity of product.
Monitoring the Development of AFt Phases in Mixed Portland Cement with FBC Ash
Martykán, Jiří ; Jiroušková, Kateřina (referee) ; Fridrichová, Marcela (advisor)
This diploma thesis is focused on evaluation of the possibilities of using FBC ash for production of blended cement and monitoring the hydration process, specially creation of the AFt phases.
The optimization of quarried limestone analysis and usage.
Sidelnicov, Vitalii ; Bednárek, Jan (referee) ; Šiler, Pavel (advisor)
Limestones are rocks formed predominantly from the mineral calcite. The Czech Republic is quite rich in this type of rock. Limestone may have a very diverse composition, properties and uses. For this reason, it is beneficial to study and analyze this material, to better utilize it to its full potential. This bachelor thesis deals with the possible uses of limestone from Lesní lom in Líšna in the city of Brno, which consists of two limestones - Hádsko-Ričský and Vilemovický. Limestone analyses were performed using by the following analytical methods: XRF, XRD and ICP-OES. Furthermore, the thesis deals with the preparation of samples for individual analytical methods and the differences of the results obtained by individual methods. Part of the thesis is also an overview of the possible uses of analysed limestones.
Modification of dry stuff with lime sludge
Švec, Jiří ; Kovářová, Alena (referee) ; Ptáček, Petr (advisor)
In modern point of view of waste management is desirable to effectively process the grates possible amount of wastes. Sediments from cleaning of mined lime stones contains a lot of clay components, but there is also indispensable share of soft calcite. Especially this can be use in following processing. After firing, where is necessary to set suitable temperature, arises a mixture of soft calcinated lime and remaining dehydrated mineral components. This calcinated mixture could partially replace used binders in dry stuffs.
Reducing emissions in the cement industry
Přehnal, Petr ; Dvořák,, Karel (referee) ; Fridrichová, Marcela (advisor)
The thesis is focused on the study of the use of fluidized bed fly ash as part of the raw mealfor firing Portland clinker in order to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. It is aimed atoptimizing the cutting mode belit cement to increase its reactivity.
Study of the limestone decarbonation process
Koporcová, Diana Mária ; Všianský,, Dalibor (referee) ; Dvořák, Karel (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with a research and a description of decarbonation process of limestone during the lime burning. The goal of the bachelor thesis is to try to find a connection between characteristics of input material and course of the decarbonation process, which is monitored by high temperature XRD analysis. There is an evaluation of the microstructure of emerging calcium oxide, especially by the size of the crystallites, in the experimental part.
Restoration of limestone in Grygov
Pilcová, Sabina ; Kovář, Jan (referee) ; Guzdek, Adam (advisor)
The subject of this bachelor thesis is a reconstruction of historical building of the limestone in Grygov. This project is based on the subject AG034 Studio of Architectural Design 4 - Restoration of Monuments. The main topic of the studio work was to come up with the new content and use of a building of limestone and at the same time tie up with the adjacent area of former site of limestone, and to create an architectural study. The project is focused on converting the building into a brewery, gallery and an observation tower, multifunctional spaces for hosting public and private events and use of the adjacent area for multifunctional sports ground, workout course and a space for outdoor music festivals. During the restoration of the main building the emphasis is on purification the building, removing its inappropriate parts and returning to its original looks. Creating harmony of its historical appearance with modern and modification for new use. At the same time, it is essential to preserve the essence of the place. New interventions in the building are handled with respect for the existing structure.
Start-up phase of a denitrifying sulphur reactor
Marková, Jana ; Hrich, Karel (referee) ; Malá, Jitka (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the start-up phase of the denitrification sulfur reactor, which is used to remove nitrogenous substances from water. The main content of this work was the investigation of the influence of various parameters on the progress of the start-up phase with the aim of their optimization. For this research, three column reactors with different operating parameters were developed at the Institute of Chemistry, Brno University of Technology. The reactors were operated throughout the start-up phase, and samples were taken regularly during the run-up phase for subsequent analysis. It was evident from the measurement results that the appropriate setting of the input parameters of the column test, which was the HRT 15 h and a filling ratio of S:CaCO3 1:2, a high removal efficiency of nitrates from the model water exceeding 93% was achieved in just 15 days. Furthermore, it was found that the HRT of 10 h is not sufficient for the course of autotrophic denitrification and caused a prolongation of the start-up phase, which is economically less favorable.
Study of limestone decarbonation process
Koporcová, Diana Mária ; Bureš,, Jaroslav (referee) ; Dvořák, Karel (advisor)
Submitted master´s thesis examines research of connections between the type of limestone and the process of decarbonation. Types of limestones and genesis of limestones are described in the theoretical part of the thesis, followed by the description of the process of decarbonation, methods used for analysis of limestone structure and research of solved problems. Experimental part of the thesis describes HT-XRD analysis, SEM analysis and simultaneous TG/DTA analysis performed on chosen group of limestone samples. The process of decarbonation and the change of microstructure of the developing calcium oxide are examined from the obtained data.
Selected rocky areas in Czech Republic and options for their protection
KRČMÁŘOVÁ, Tereza
The submitted work is focused on selected rock-climbing areas in the Czech Republic, characterizes those areas by terms of their location and the predominant type of rock, shows and describes the characteristics of the individual rocks, including their propensity to destruction by natural as well as anthropogenic factors. Included in this work is also a brief introduction to the history of rock climbing in our country and describing the differences in the rock-climbing techniques and the usage of different rock-climbing equipment on each type of rock. The last part focuses on the possibilities of protection of often inadvertently damaged rocky areas, including photo documentation of the various types of damage with added commentary.
