Visual Reinterpretation of National Identity in the Public Space of Mexico

Visual Reinterpretation of National Identity in the Public Space of Mexico Visual communication in public spaces of Mexico has been significantly shaping collective identity, from pre-Columbian times to nowadays. This PhD thesis analyzes the visual aspect of cultural and religious identity in pre-Columbian and colonial eras, later, the discussion is led through the development of the modern day national identity that followed while concurrently explaining how former structural characteristics were partially maintained. Those phenomena are explored from two vantage points: that of the cultural and political elites and that of the general population. However, these perspectives aren't presented in a sharp opposition, rather, as two conjugating cultural streams that have been continuously negotiating and shaping cultural and national identity in correlation with historical and cultural events, including influence from significant others. Graffiti Tags Detection Mobile Application

Thesis focuses on the object recognition of images, using the principles of artificial intelligence. It solves the signature detection of authors in the field of art called graffiti. It concerns about basic problematic of this field, it also points to the use of computer vision followed by practical application on mobile devices, specifically on the Android platform. The selected neural network models was the ssdMobileNet_v2 . The trained model achieves mAP accuracy of 73.5% meanwhile the IoU was set to 0.6. After the quantization process, the accuracy was reduced to 68.5%. The mobile application provides real-time detection and several other necessary functions for localization and data collection.
Risk Behavior Connects with Graffiti

In the bachelor thesis was used qualitative research strategy. This research was conducted by interviewing and semi-structured interview. The data was divided into several cluster based on similarity. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to find out, which forms of risk behavior graffiti writters commited. The target file is composed of graffiti writers, who are in this subculture for long period of time. Graffiti writers come from the whole Czech Republic. In theoretical part is described graffiti subculture, the next part is devoted to definition of risk behavior and criminality connects with graffiti. In the last chapter I tried described social work and in the next part I described organizations, who could work work with this subculture. The research results provide us complex view on graffiti writters and their motivation. The research is focused on their experiences with graffiti and their experiences with risk activities. The research also describe, how were graffiti writters punished fot their non-legal behavior and if their have some experience with social work. I am also interested if their have legal zones for graffiti. The research result that the thesis bring may help for better understand graffiti subculture and can help solve the question, how work with this subculture.
The Position od Graffiti in Czech Art After 1989

The senior thesis comprises a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part deals with the artistic expression of graffiti in Czechia after the year 1989 and its connection with the official Czech art. It describes graffiti as such and talks shortly about the roots of this phenomenon; both its birth in the US and its later spread across the Czech Republic. It mentions crucial moments in the development of graffiti and their reflections in the expression itself. It introduces the most important artistic personalities who were inspired by graffiti in their later work and thereby shifted significantly the position of graffiti in Czech art. The practical part contains the creation of a model of a statue inspired by graffiti together with its suggested placement in public space.
Socialization of Young People within the Subculture of Graffiti

In the thesis the author is focused on socialization of young people within the subculture of graffiti. She discusses aspects of the individual's integration into the subculture and its rules, which then influence the style and quality of the new member's life. In the context of graffiti subculture the author describes members' relationships, which are deeply rooted in hierarchy. That is characterized by respecting older writers at the top of the hierarchical system, and vice versa despising new writers who do not respect subculture rules. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the author introduces the theoretical background of subculture research to the reader. She also familiarize the reader with subculture of graffiti in the Czech Republic. In the practical part, she introduces her own research, based on eight semi-structured interviews with members of Prague graffiti subculture and her observation. Based on collected data she comes to conclusion and answers her research questions.
Advertisements against advertising. Subvertising in the Czech Republic and abroad

The Bachelor's thesis "Advertisements against Advertising. Subvertising in the Czech Republic and Abroad." deals with the phenomenon of subvertising, which originated from the needs of artists to react to the content and number of advertising messages surrounding us on a daily basis. The thesis sets the phenomenon into cultural-historical context and describes the development of art criticism. It also includes new marketing movements that stem from subvertising. Principally, the thesis focuses on the relationship of art and marketing, whose margins are currently being exceeded. Based on the theoretical findings, the practical part of the thesis analyses selected artists and introduces important manifestations of subvertising. For the description of the artistic interventions, it uses the method of a case study and comparative analysis. At its beginning, the thesis presents four world groups which unify artists and which brought forth subvertising. The next part deals with the context of foreign artistic production and introduces six subvertisers, including several lesser-known figures. Primal sources of inspiration in czech art 1980-2015

Main focus of this work is to compare and map the evolution of primal sources of inspiration in Czech art in the years 1980-2015. It brings the overview of the authors, who adopted the elements of visual reality, and describes the ways how they used it in their works. Highlighted are the authors whose works are influenced by some of the following topics: commerce and kitch, pornography, comic books, graffiti and street art, folklore, culture of natural nation and childs drawings. Reasons and motivation of the authors for using these extraordinary ways of expression are also clarified. The main part of the work is completed by a context of the exhibitions which took place in the defined time period and follow the topic. It is possible to imagine the evolution and the meaning of primal sources of inspiration in the context of post modern art, according to the basis of the discovered findings.
