Influence of plant protection system on oil rape and greenhouse gases emissions from oil rape growing
SAMEC, Jakub
The theses serves as a comparison of different ways in the intensity of Brassica napus protection through the vegetational period. There were various protection types evaluated and their harmfulness was specified. Theses confronts the production of greenhouse gases emissions. The result is the surface unit emissive burden assesment and its conversion into the Brassica napus yield unit. These conclusions are based on the practical experiment which was realised in the farm located in Krty-Hradec village.
Barley growing in conventional and organic farming system - plant protection methods and greenhouse gases emissions
BÍNA, Martin
The aim of this diploma thesis was an evaluation of the environmental aspects of growing of the chosen feeding varieties of a spring barley in various systems of farming. Further purpose of this diploma thesis was a quantification of an emission load bond with the unit of area, and the unit of yield of spring barley, in the scope of conventional and ecological system of farming. The part of this study was a formation of the literature survey about problems of the conventional and ecological growing of the spring barley, with the focus on the agrotechnical requirements and environmental aspects. The practical part was performed in the area of the Faculty of Agriculture in Czech Budejovice.
Impact of housing sector on greenhouse emissions
Hošková, Tereza ; Dvořáček, Lukáš (referee) ; Ivanička, Koloman (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis deals with the influence of the housing sector in the creation of greenhouse gases. The theoretical part of the recommended proposals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the residential sector and a description of the environmental impacts of buildings in various phases of the life cycle in terms of greenhouse gas emissions. The practical part deals with projects that have been implemented or planned under the auspices of the world organization Ecocity.
Is subsidizing renewable energy sources effective?
Makovec, Petr ; Hronza, Martin (advisor) ; Babin, Jan (referee)
This paper examines the current situation of renewable energy sources. Using various models, the paper shows the relationship between the usage of renewables and the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions. Based on the data from EU, models show that using renewables helps to lower damage of the enviroment. Additionally, this paper includes calculation of estimated costs of lowering emissions in the Czech Republic. According to the results, lowering greenhouse gas emissions by one ton of carbon dioxide costs 150-250 euro.
Analysis of time series of greenhouse gases emissions in the EU 27 during the period from 1990 to 2011
Sabo, Juraj ; Helman, Karel (advisor) ; Kladívko, Kamil (referee)
Global climate change is one of the most serious environmental issues. According to current scientific knowledge, the global climate change is caused by the production of greenhouse gases. In response to this ongoing climate change the Kyoto Protocol to the United Nations Framework Agreement on Climate Change was adopted. This bachelor thesis is focused on the analysis of time series of total greenhouse gases emissions in the EU 27 during the period from 1990 to 2011. The aim is to obtain information about the behavior of the analyzed time series in the reporting period, verify the objectives of the Kyoto Protocol of reducing emitted greenhouse gases and forecast the future development of greenhouse gases emissions in EU 27. All data was obtained from public databases of Eurostat. Tools for achieving the objectives of the thesis are basic characteristics of time series and methods for modelling trend component through the selected trend functions and adaptive methods. This thesis consists of two main parts. The theoretical part is devoted to the description of the statistical methods and practical part is dedicated to the analysis of time series.
Evaluation of policy objectives in the management of biodegradable municipal waste in terms of efficiency
Mareš, Josef ; Vejchodská, Eliška (advisor) ; Slavík, Jan (referee)
The work deals with the critical assessment of the requirement of Council Directive 1999/31/EC on the landfill of waste for a gradual reduction in landfilling of biodegradable municipal waste (BMW). The aim of this work was to evaluate this requirement in terms of economic efficiency using the meta-analysis of selected complex studies based on cost-benefit analysis. Studies focused on natural and technical parameters and available specific data for Czech Republic of particular ways of processing BMW were also used for finding of private and social costs and benefits balance. Based on the results of this balance is not possible to decide whether fulfillment of the requirement will increase economic efficiency. Results are calculated from large number of input values, some of which shows significant variability. Oxidation rate of uncaptured CH4 in the process of landfilling BMW is characteristic example. This parameter varies between values 10 % and 90 %. While for value 10 % would separate collection of biowastes and its composting presented option with higher economic efficiency, for value 90 % is the result opposite.
The impact of production processes on emission of CO2 in livestock raising
MAKRLÍKOVÁ, Kateřina
This theses fokus on the enviromental impact of livestock raising cycle (cattle, pigs and poultry). Energetical costs and emissions caused by livestock fattening are counted including processing and transport of the final product ? meat. Conventional and organic farming were compared as well as different forms of housing. SIMA Pro software tool was used for obtaining the emission load. The aim of the work was to find which form of livestock raising has the least environmental impact. This work was created in the European Union internatiponal project M00080-EUS-AT-SUKI Sustainable Kitchen focusing on the emission load of substantial links of vertical production chain.
Influence of production proces during potatoes growing on CO2 emissions
JAREŠOVÁ, Martina
The thesis deals with the partial evaluation of life cycle of the potatoes and its environmental impact during the all phases of the cycle. The cycle consists of the evaluation of emission load in the field production, processing and transportation to processing and end-users. The evaluation compared the emission load variations, such as organic and conventional potatoes, seasonal and stored potatoes, raw potatoes and processed potato products. For calculating the emission load was used software tool SimaPro. The aim of work was to find which forms of cultivation; processing and transport have the lowest environmental impact and propose variants with low environmental impact to school canteens.
Bioenergy as an Alternative Source of Fuels for Transport in World Economics
