My dissertation's target is detailed processing of selected place of urban project and planning complex of apartment building. My project is directed at social housing given position, surroundings' character and inhabitant's current necessaries. Selected place is the eastest part of urban project because of it's connecting with urbanized compact city and there is a possibility to build it in the first phase without respect to next realization according to urban project. There is designed a block of three buildings instead of a few separate buildings, the mass is simple and compact considering huge concrete high-rise block stand nearby and considering economical accessible social housing conception. The mail access is from Vídeňská street over Celní street, during building further housing development there is planned connecting with Vinohrady street and Jihlavská street. All houses are independent with having their own entry and accessories. Altitude differences of terrain are utilized for undergroung parking to enable using exterior place for inhabitants relaxation in the inner yard. Majority of flats meet the requirements to gain grant from Ministry of regional development or State fund of housing development.

To Finish the Body of the City
Vitkovič, Michal ; Kosek, Filip (referee) ; Hora, Jan (advisor)
The proposal verifies the possibilities of completing the land on the edge of the historic centre in the form of a city block, within the extreme limits set by its narrow dimensions. The apparent disadvantages - the spatial limitation and the position on a slope - become an opportunity to create a variety of atmospheres and situations, different levels of height, partitions and connections. The concept reflects the phenomena of city coalescence, the end of the dominance of cars, addressing the lack of affordable housing and increasing the density of the city and place. The infill of the mixed-use building consists mainly of flats designed for population groups threatened by the current housing crisis - young people and the socially disadvantaged. The housing programme is complemented by council flats. The proposal seeks to provide service, leisure and social opportunities. The flats have private gardens located on green roofs and communal seating areas. An important part of the block is the community centre. In line with the concept of short distances, there are also shops and a café with a bookshop on the ground floor. In the part of the plot close to the city centre we find a small public square with greenery. Parking is located mostly in a semi-flooded basement, which gradually rises to the terrain and creates a platform for residential buildings. The contrast of the concrete base and the brick linear blocks is the main characteristic of the simple facades. The new urban block also reshapes the character of the surrounding streets, humanising them and integrating the urban fabric.

Romany Housing
Krejsová, Aneta ; Janok, Jakub (referee) ; Sátora, Josef (advisor) ; Hradil, Dušan (advisor)
Bachelor’s thesis „Romany housing“ deals with the issue of underprivileged accomodation. This is a complex of four apartment buildings and one community center. It is located on the site in Brno-Maloměřice. The site is flat, it is surrounded by little terraced houses on one side and large prefabricated metal halls on the other side. Apartment buildings respond to the surroundings by creating transition between little houses and large halls - they have relatively large mass, but it is split by saw-tooth roof that creates illusion of terraced houses. Main idea of the project is layout variability - it reacts to various number of romany family members. Single apartement building has two storeys, community center has one story and basement. Supporting structure is made of aerated concrete blocks. The foundations are made of non-reinforced concrete, the roof is partly saw-tooth, partly flat. Bachelor’s thesis includes a model and a detail of recessed railing in reinforcedconcrete wall which carries the exterior staircase.
Residential Complex in Brno - Komín
Krajan, Viktor ; Kyselka, Mojmír (referee) ; Makovský, Zdeněk (advisor)
Architecture, emanating from philosophy of design, shows the concept of arrangement of eight volumes with a free pattern which generates the maximum amount of open and light space. Structure of the plot is composed of seven apartment buildings and solitary villa. Design of residential complex consists of clear line of public and semi-public space, which complements urbanism of this design. Mass of objects respects the surrounding scale and thereby does not interfere with the surrounding nature and buildings. Functional filling includes a residential function with using of the surrounding area. The layout of the building is designed as a three tracts with four above-ground floors and one underground floor. In the first three above-ground floors are designed two housing units and in a fourth above-ground floor is one housing unit. Vancouver - Affordable Housing Challenge
Pleštilová, Tereza ; Klimecký, Martin (referee) ; Gerö, Jiří (advisor)
The subject of this work was the preparation of project documentation consisting of the building permit documentation, documentation for the execution of the construction and the design of the architectural detail. The Bachelor thesis is based on the architectural study developed as a part of the course AG035studio work. The main idea behind social housing in Vancouver is to create affordable housing primarily for young people, whether individuals, couples, or families. The goal of the new housing design is to maximize the use of unbuilt and especially ballast plots near the city centre, attractive to the young generation that is lacking in Vancouver downtown. This need corresponds with the site plan which is derived from a maple leaf, the symbol of Canada, stylized into a pentagon. Addition of right angles creates a landform of variable use that can be easily placed on vacant lots even of irregular shapes. The proposed complex of three apartment buildings is located in the city of Vancouver, Canada, in a local neighbourhood of Mount Pleasant. The subject site is located south of the city centre and the site is easily accessible due to the well-developed public transportation and frequently used bicycle network. The proposal addresses both the building and the connection to the adjacent neighborhood. A total of three buildings of varying heights are proposed. The lowest is five storey and the heights escalate to the tallest seven storey building. The taller buildings stand on corners and visually exposed locations. There are four residential units proposed on each storey of the residential buildings, with the exception of the first storey offering rentable spaces. In total, sixty residential units are proposed, fifteen of which are of the 3+kitchen corner type and the other forty-five of the 1+kitchen corner type. The project documentation of the Bachelor's thesis deals with the apartment building A located in the north of the site.
