The bachelor's thesis deals with the design of a new town hall for Staré Brno on the Mendlovo square with urbanism defined by the territorial study of New Mendlovo square after the important change in the concept of transport. Thanks to the new transport concept, space is freed up in the very center of Mendlovo square. Tram traffic is diverted to the location behind the Gymnasium. And so the traffic loop that is currently on the site will be removed. We have the opportunity to return the square of the First Republic. As few of our fellow citizens remember him from the beginning and first half of the 20th century. It is about searching for shape and ideal mass and internal layout within this public institution, which should become a city within a city in itself for the 21st century. An effort to leave the survival of the town hall as we know it from the 20th century and try a new concept within social, spatial and visual connectivity. The first part of the work contains analyzes of the territory and the conclusions obtained from them. The theory is followed by the project concept. The details are discussed in the architectural solution. The building construction section clarifies the design by describing the construction and construction details.

Use of the Results of Analysis of Numerical Models of Pedestrian Transport for Urban Public Space Planning
Nikolov, Daniel ; Okřinová, Petra
Simulation, in any context, is already becoming the absolute standard in many fields. And numerical models of pedestrian traffic can also be an effective tool in the construction sector. They can mainly serve experts from urban planners, architects, project engineers, municipal and urban building department in choosing the best solution for public areas design. Optimization by numerical modelling provides the necessary feedback and possibilities for repeated design verification to find innovative solutions by creators. Using their outputs, it is possible to identify critical points and areas that do not meet the comfort criteria of pedestrian traffic.

In 2018, the City Architect's Office prepared an idea urban design competition that outlined the direction of the overall solution of Mendl Square. The winning proposal is based on an overall change in transport organisation. The intention was therefore to plan the revitalization at the same time as the planned repair of the steam pipe, which will take place from April to September 2021. And as if fate wanted it 2021 is the anniversary of 200 years since J. G. Mendel – the founder of genetics, after whom the square is named. The aim of revitalization is to minimize the unattractiveness and dysfunction of the space. In this way, significantly change the comfortable conditions of the transfer node. The aim of this thesis is to break down critical points from the point of view of pedestrian traffic and subsequently to establish effective steps leading to their optimisation. The thesis also deals with the new Smart City field and its use for the collection of experimental data that could be used to improve input data in the creation of numerical models of public spaces.

In this proposal I think about the need of a green space in the city. In my thesis you are being introduced to few unordinary houses. They are not traditional in a term of city block houses, because they are solitaires. Those forms bring new possibilities for green space in the city and inhabitant´s satisfaction.
