Protection of the Earth climate system from the legal point of view
Radošinský, Adrián ; Žákovská, Karolina (advisor) ; Sobotka, Michal (referee)
Climate system protection from the legal point of view The global warming is one of the most serious and acute problem, that is touching all the global society. Growing of the greenhouse gasses is evoking the change of climate system, especially the warming of the Atmosphere and the Earth. In the last 100 years the temperature rises, what cause a lot of problems not just on the environment, but impacts on human health and society. Many of recent scientist studies clearly indicate, that climate changes are a result of human activities. Consequences of the global warming have been observed for several years, included rising global average temperature, rising of the sea level, melting glaciers and severity of extremes such as heat waves, cold waves, storms, floods and droughts. To preclude this consequences, there is necessary a global action with participation of every country. The aim of the diploma thesis is an introduction to the reader create a picture of the functioning of the climate system and its changes, causes and consequences of these changes and clarify the activities to protect, whether it is the activities of international, multinational or the Czech Republic. Finally, I will try to assess the individual activities and measures, including measures of adaptation, or to compare them and...
Protection of the Earth climate system from the legal point of view
Babka, Tomáš ; Žákovská, Karolina (advisor) ; Franková, Martina (referee)
Climate system protection from the legal point of view Climate change seems to be a defining ecological issue of the 21st century. However, unlike other global threats there are still some scientific uncertainties about the gravity of this problem and its actual consequences. On the other hand the proven fact is that the Earth climate is affected by altered atmospheric concentrations of greenhouse gases. Dozens of recent studies clearly indicate that the changes in the atmosphere are a result of human activities and that an immediate action is needed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and avoid reaching more harmful levels. If nothing is happened, climate change would lead to a rise in global average temperature together with other associated impacts such as melting glaciers, rising sea-levels or more frequent appearence of extreme weather events. The climate change issue is being addressed both at international and national level. There is a need to take a coordinated action of all states worldwide with respect to their development capabilities and historic responsibilities. International negotiations in last couple of years have shown that it will be very difficult to achieve an agreement between countries with different intrests. The aim of this diploma thesis is to summarize a development of the...

The climate protection under international law Key words: international climatic law, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Kyoto Protocol Abstract The purpose of the thesis is to analyze the system of climate protection in international law. In the thesis, there is described the history of the part of international law concerning climate changes, the contemporary international climatic law itself, and some of the most serious problems concerning the topic. The reason for my research is to introduce the basic system of international climatic law, as well as to show how modern international law is created. The thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter describes the international climatic law as a part of the international environmental law, shows the forms of treaties used in the international environmental law and presents the reasons why the form of framework convention was used in the case of international climatic law. The second chapter analyzes the history and evolution of international climatic law. From the first political declaration to the most recent international conventions, the most important milestones of the development of the international climatic law are shown. The third chapter presents the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change itself as the...

Production of CO2 and emission trading system
Bravený, Adam ; Niesner, Jakub (referee) ; Ferdan, Tomáš (advisor)
The thesis is divided thematically into two parts. The first one describes the state of gaseous carbon dioxide production, being considered the main cause of greenhouse effect or global warming. By the summary of many sources it is revealed how CO2 is produced, what influences its concentration in air the most and the CO2 level trends. The second part is focused on European Union and Czech emissions trading system, which is actual and widely discussed topic in the last few years. The main rules, mechanisms of the market and a model case of allowances trading is presented. The existence of the whole system and its positive and negative effects on the economy and environment are discussed.
Analysis of time series of greenhouse gases emissions in the EU 27 during the period from 1990 to 2011
Sabo, Juraj ; Helman, Karel (advisor) ; Kladívko, Kamil (referee)
Global climate change is one of the most serious environmental issues. According to current scientific knowledge, the global climate change is caused by the production of greenhouse gases. In response to this ongoing climate change the Kyoto Protocol to the United Nations Framework Agreement on Climate Change was adopted. This bachelor thesis is focused on the analysis of time series of total greenhouse gases emissions in the EU 27 during the period from 1990 to 2011. The aim is to obtain information about the behavior of the analyzed time series in the reporting period, verify the objectives of the Kyoto Protocol of reducing emitted greenhouse gases and forecast the future development of greenhouse gases emissions in EU 27. All data was obtained from public databases of Eurostat. Tools for achieving the objectives of the thesis are basic characteristics of time series and methods for modelling trend component through the selected trend functions and adaptive methods. This thesis consists of two main parts. The theoretical part is devoted to the description of the statistical methods and practical part is dedicated to the analysis of time series.
Emission Trading in the EU
Hanák, Ondřej ; Zimmermannová, Jarmila (advisor) ; Vítek, Leoš (referee)
Increasing volume of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has a negative impact on the living conditions on Earth. The emissions trading instrument has been accepted to reduce amount of greenhouse gases emissions. This Bachelor thesis analyses each phases of EU Emission Trading System. The introduction of the thesis describes the impact of carbon dioxide emissions on the environment, flexible mechanisms that can reduce these emissions and the way of trading within the EU-ETS. The practical part analyses phase III of EU ETS, also includes a practical example of auction of emission allowances and the analysis of German auctions in 2014.
