Rozvinutost periferních, semiperiferních a střediskových sídel okresu Český Krumlov
MAXA, Ondřej
The main goal of the bachelor thesis was evaluation of human and demographic capital of peripheral and other types of settlements in Český Krumlov district. In the first step, settlement centres with different hierarchy (micro-regional towns, very small towns, townships, central villages and more important villages) were defined based on indicators such as population, services for residents, number of commuters and number of transport connections in working day (bus and train). In the second step, peripheral settlements were bordered in the map based on 30-minute isochron of bus and train connections to micro-regional towns (also ultra-peripheral settlements - behind 60-minute isochron) as well as suburban settlements (based on characteristics of suburbanisation) and semi-peripheral (remaining settlements). In the third step, human and demographic capital in individual remote types of settlements (variably long population development, age structure, education, entrepreneurship rate, housing construction and age of municipal representatives) were evaluated. In monitored district, there are 2 micro-regional towns (Český Krumlov, Kaplice), 3 very small towns (Velešín, Větřní a Vyšší Brod), 3 townships, 10 central villages and 10 more important villages. Approximately 41% of the district area and 19% of the district population belong to peripheral and ultra-peripheral settlements. Surprisingly, semi-peripheral settlements have the most favourable values of human and demographic capital, and even also ultra-peripheral settlements and settlements without joints for some indicators. Peripheral settlements also have relatively favourable values. These findings greatly undermine the conventional notion of the underdevelopment of peripheral territories.

Sociálně-populační rozvinutost periferních, semiperiferních a střediskových sídel okresu Klatovy
HOUDKOVÁ, Barbora
The bachelor thesis focuses on the evaluation of human, demographic and social capital of remote (peripheral) types of settlements of the Klatovsky District. First, settlement centres are defined and their hierarchy is established (micro-regional cities, very small towns, townshops, townvillages and larger villages) according to four indicators of centrality (population, number of types of selected services, number of commutes for work and to schools, and number of public transport links). Subsequently, the peripheral settlements of the micro-regional level are defined on the basis of the insufficient number of public transport links to micro-regional cities and too long time spent on the journey in these links. In the vicinity of microregional cities are defined suburbia/suburban settlements. The remaining settlements are semi-peripheral settlements. In the final, the human, demographic and social capital of individual remote types of settlements and peripheral areas of settlements is analysed. In addition to 3 microregional towns (Klatovy, Sušice, Horažďovice), one very small town (Nýrsko), 5 townships (Janovice nad Úhlavou, Švihov, Železná Ruda, etc.), 14 townvillages and 18 larger villages were defined. Quite large peripheral areas were found in the border with Bavaria. Microregional cities have favourable values of education, suburban settlements are characterized by favorable population development and by higher proportion of children, semi-peripheral settlements have a favorable age structure and significant activities of associations. Peripheral settlements had surprisingly favorable population development.

RBTC and human capital: accounting for individual-level responses
Kashkarov, Daniil
I test the contribution of individual human capital responses to earnings inequality arising in the process of the routine-biased technological change (RBTC). I develop a lifecycle model of human capital and occupational choice, calibrate it to the NLSY79 data, using the price series for human capital in abstract and routine occupations estimated from the cross-sectional CPS data with the “flat spot” approach. I then use the model to quantify the effect of a change in human capital prices on earnings inequality. I find that an increase in the price for human capital in abstract occupations and a fall in its price in routine occupations associated with RBTC has a modest contribution to the evolution of variance of log-earnings — up to 10.8 per cent by the end of the working life cycle. However, the contribution of RBTC to an increase in the abstract wage premium over the lifetime of the NLSY79 cohorts is up to 28.6 per cent. The growth of the abstract wage premium is significantly dampened by the human capital responses of workers switching from routine occupations.
Further professional education and development of managers in construction
Vildner, Roman
The diploma thesis deals with the issue of further professional education and development of managers in the field of construction. Based on the analysis of the specifics of managerial work in this sector, an educational (development) program reflecting foreign trends will be designed. The key professional competencies of managers with an emphasis on controlling in construction (costs, planning, reporting, financial management, strategy, risk management and change management) and resource management will be modeled. The task of managers is to identify such resources, incl. talented workers. Art is then able to use these precious resources, which are difficult to imitate and substitute, effectively. The resource-based approach emphasizes, like human capital theory, that investing in people increases an individual's value to the organization. This is related to the assumption that a company achieves lasting prosperity and competitive advantage when it has top specialists who cannot be easily acquired or replaced by competitors. High school graduates can also be counted among the potential sources. Working with them is currently necessary, as it is one of the options for recruiting new workers, which is in short supply on the labor market. The whole research design was built to reflect the two levels...
