The infuence of commercial ads on childhood obesity

Childhood obesity is one of the most serious public health challenges of the 21st century. It is a global problem is increasing at an alarming rate and is still affecting many low and middle- income countries. In 2016, over 41 million under the age of five were overweight. The theoretical part in the first chapter deals with the development of eating, and also cognitive and emotional development. The thesis deals with the principle of advertising, subliminal manipulation, types of advertising, ethics and laws restricting advertising especially for children - in the second chapter. The last chapter observes the etiopathogenesis of childhood obesity, the risks of childhood obesity as well as its treatment and prevention. The form of the practical part is a standardized structured interview. The sample of respondents are children from Prague and its surroundings at the age of 8-12 years. This sample was gathered mostly from primary school in Chodovec but also via social network in the form of an advertisement. As children from the age of seven are able to critically assess advertising, it was interesting to see their reactions and responses in this research. The influence of the family social and financial background on the origin of children's obesity

: Obesity is a very serious health and social-economic worldwide problem today. Childhood obesity means a higher risk of obesity and other associated health problems in later adulthood. As some research shows, every fourth child in the Czech Republic is overweight and every seventh child is obese. The cause of obesity is not only poor eating habits and lack of physical activity, but also genetic, psychological and socio-economic factors. For this reason, prevention itself is an important and only successful step. The main goal of this bachelor thesis was to find the connection between the socio - financial background of the family and the childhood obesity. Find out if the level of education and the level of family income affect childhood obesity. The work also focuses on mapping the eating habits of obese children in connection with social and financial backgrounds. The materials for the theoretical part of the thesis were obtained from professional literature, medical journals, articles and internet sources WHO, SZÚ, ÚZIS. Prevention and treatment of childhood obesity in the Czech Republic with a focus on physical activity

This bachelor's thesis summarizes the issues related to childhood obesity and the possibilities of its prevention and treatment in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part contains a definition of childhood obesity, its medical complications and consequences, investigative procedures, methods of prevention and therapy, a list and description of some of the programmes and projects promoting exercise and health and it also contains the information about the physical activity. The practical part is focused on the case interpretation of 4 patients of children obesitology in the Motol University Hospital, on the description of regular ongoing exercises in the Motol Hospital and on the description of the children's medical institutions. Within the group exercise a process of lessons and a current leaflet is described. Based on the arrangement with 2 physiotherapists a new leaflet entitled "Piece of cake" is created with the intention of replacing the existing leaflet. The brochure "Piece of cake" is based on the existing flyer, however some previous exercises are replaced or changed there. Nutrition of obese young school-age children

In the present time is obesity very common and a number of people which have this problem is still getting higher. This increasing problem with obesity shoud not be taken lightly, because it has negative effects on overall health of society. The main objectives of bachelor work called "Nutrition of obese young school-age children" was comparing nutrition habits of children before and after visiting with nutrition specialist. Comparison effect of diet when taken seriously, and how parents contribute in problem of children obesity. Work consists of two parts, theoretical and practical. Theoretical part shows basic principles of how to determine the quality of nutrition for children. Nutrition quality with younger school aged children, with daily nutrition schedule and information about children obesity and how to treat it. Practical part was done by qualitative research. Research was done by using dietary records of pediatric patients and interviewing patients and one or both of the parents. Research was done on four obese patients, who was selected based on their graphs. Patients had visited the nutrition specialist twice, so in research are incudet data from each visit with the therapist. From the results, it is obvious that most of obese patients have at least one obese parent. The main problem comes from parents, because they have bad nutrition and exercise habits. Another important finding is that obesity is not caused by higher energy intake, but by choosing bad food and drinks.

Childhood obesity and treatment of childhood obesity in the spa

The objective of this study was to find out if patiens with obesity were adequately educated in the area of the food composition since they were staying at Bludov Spa for the therapeutic program. In addition, determine whether family food consumption affects the percentile value of children, and whether frequency of breakfast and snack classification in children with optimal weight and children with overweight or obesity is different. Methodology: The practical part of this work is based on a questionnaires survey. The questionnaires were filled by 210 respondent in total. Pupils from primary school answered 104 questionnaires and patiens from the spa filled 106 questionnaires. Pupils from primary school were aged between 14 - 16 years, thein questionnaires were categorized according to percentile values per group below 90th percentile and above 90th percentile, based on age and calculated BMI. The patiens at the spa were aged between 7 - 18 years and all were in the group over the 97th percentile, but then question naires had to be categorized by age, in the 7 - 14 age group (younger and older schoolage), 15-18 years (adolescence), also a group aged 14 - 16 years was created to compareit with a group from the spa. Comparing the eating habits of children in the Czech republic and Slovakia

Dle studie HBSC, děti z České republiky Slovenska konzumují nadměrné množství slazených nápojů, sladkostí a naopak jedí málo zeleniny a ovoce, nesnídají, mají málo pohybu a tráví dvě a více hodin denně u počítače nebo Teoretická část je věnována příčinám rozvoje obezity v dětském věku, její diagnostice prevenci. Další část je věnována vývoji stravování v ém dětství, pohybové aktivitě doporučeným zdravým stravovacím návykům. praktické části byly použity dotazníky, které byly rozdány ve čtyřech základních školách v České republice (Základní škola Campanus, Praha 4 a Základní škola T. G. Masaryka, Velim) a na Slovensku (Základní škola Sídlisko JUH, Vranov nad Topľou Základní škola Sečovská Polianka). Zkoumaný soubor dětí z ně základní školy České republice (ČR) a Slovenské republice (SR) byl rozdělen na děti s děti s nadváhou nebo obezitou. Skupiny dětí z I. a II. stupně z obou států byly porovnávány mezi sebou, byly zjišťovány rozdíly v nápojů. Současně bylo zjišťováno, zda snídají, jak často se věnují pohybové aktivitě a hodin denně tráví u počítače/TV. Studie ukázala, že české obézní děti konzumovaly více ovoce a zeleniny, ale měly ily více času u počítače/TV. Monitoring nutritional frequency in obese children and children with physiological weight

Nourishment plays a very important role in a proper children's development. A diet that is rich in a nutrition is necessary for an optimal physical and mental children's development. A number of children with obesity is constantly increasing, where the age of the child is decreasing. Children's obesity is mainly associated with unhealthy eating habits and lack of exercise. The purpose of the "Monitoring nourishment frequency in obese children and children with physiological weight" study is to determine the nourishment frequency in children with obesity and children with physiological weight. This study is divided into two parts; the theory part and the practical part, where in the first section of the theory part the researcher will discuss main characteristics of school-aged children and also outlines the results from previous studies focusing on school-aged children and their eating habits. The theory part will also focus on main nourishment basics, general principles and recommendations. In the second section the theory part will outline the current review on children's obesity. The practical part of this study used quantitative research technique in form of a questionnaire with aim to collect data regarding nourishment frequency in children. The researcher questioned a sample of 20 children that were divided into two equal samples. The first sample included 10 children with optimal weight according to the Body Mass Index (BMI) calculation and the second sample included 10 children with obesity issues that was also determined by the Body Mass Index (BMI) calculation. After data analysis the researcher determined that the main issues in children's obesity are irregular eating habits. Another factor that has significant influence on children's obesity was lack of physical exercise, where children prefer to spend their free time passively. Significant role plays also a fast food and soft drink consumption by children on a regular basis.
Hodnocení tělesných parametrů dětí s nadváhou v lázeňském zařízení

The diploma thesis deals with childhood obesity and its treatment success during reduction program in the spa. The introductory part describes metabolism, metabolism of nutrients and their need for children. There is characterized childhood obesity, causes of its origin, various complication and its treatment as well. The main objective of the practical part is assessment of the treatment efficiency in the spa. This assessment is based on physical parameters measurement including changes in body weight, amount of adipose tissue and muscle tissue. The physical parameters were always measured at the beginning and at the end of the treatment. Consequently, there was performed comparison between children of different sexes and different age. The thesis also includes an evaluation of typical weekly diet and level of physical activity.
Education of obese children

This thesis deals with methods used for childhood obese patient education. It is further devoted to the creation of new educational resource to help fight the childhood obesity. This educational material has been prepared on a similar basis as the educational material for diabetic patients called Conversation maps TM. The theoretical part is dedicated to three main topics. First of all it analyzes risk factors influencing progression of the child obesity, prevention and treatment of this disease. Secondly, the theme of education is further elaborated. Finally, the third main topic is focused specifically on education in childhood obesitology and educational materials dealing with this issue. Quality of childhood obesity prevention and its specific impact on children aged 11-15 years is assessed in practical part. This part was realized using quantitative research, where I used an anonymous non-standardized questionnaire (which contained 14 questions) to gather the necessary data. The aim of the questionnaire was to find two facts. First, I was wondering where the children got accurate information about a healthy lifestyle.
