Optimization of manufacturing of iron castings to reduce the quantity of defects
Blaha, Marek ; Brázda, Zdeněk (referee) ; Juliš, Martin (advisor)
The presented diploma thesis is focused on defects of castings as well as optimization of production with the aim of reducing the number of defective products. The theoretical part is focused on basic information about cast iron and its production, structure and mechanical properties. Another part of this thesis describes the defects of castings and options for non-destructive testing of cast iron castings. In the experimental part are analyzed three sorts of defective casting. Castings for testing were provided by JMA s.r.o. foundry. The summary contains tests results and proposals for optimization of production.
Influence of sulphur and graphitizing inoculation on structure and mechanical properties of lamellar graphite cast iron
Král, Vojtěch ; Kaňa, Václav (referee) ; Záděra, Antonín (advisor)
Goal of this diploma thesis was to determine influence of graphitizing inoculation and chemical composition on structure and mechanical properties of gray iron. In terms of chemical composition, sulphur content was to be observed. Hardness and tensile strength were measured. Metallographic samples were analyzed by image analysis software.
Characterization of the machinability of cast iron for the RENAULT’s brake discs
Ceyte, Benoit ; Polzer, Aleš (referee) ; Píška, Miroslav (advisor)
This document is final report of an expertise project lead for ALPHA Company. The project focuses on the machinability characterization and comparison of various lamellar cast irons metallurgies. The comparison is performed in order to improve the casting process and the cast irons composition of brake and hub disk, to increase their machinability. The characterization of the metallurgies was made by tool life test with measurements of the cutting forces. Hardness and surface roughness measurements were performed too. Several Silicon nitride tools were tested. First an adjustment test has been performed to validate the machining parameters, and the methodology of characterization. Secondly, a reference test on Alpha’s cast iron brought reference data for the comparison of the various metallurgies to be tested. This test has improved the method of characterization. Cutting forces recording appeared as the most relevant and irrelevant measurements such as surface roughness were eliminated from the method. A test performed on a second cast iron showed that it has a lower machinability. Project succeeded to characterize and compare cast irons’ machinabilities, allowing the improvement of the composition by further tests.
Change in production of cast iron
Sedláková, Jitka ; Jelínek, Radim (referee) ; Šenberger, Jaroslav (advisor)
The subject of this work is to validate the possibility of managing the cast iron strength through residual Mg content and to determine methodically whether it is possible to exploit this technology in a foundry. It is another subject to determine the economics of the exchange of cupola furnace for electric induction furnace and methodically assess the possibilities of melting in the electric induction furnace.
Materials in the construction of production machines
Šafařík, Petr ; Hermanský, Dominik (referee) ; Merenus, Ondřej (advisor)
The task of this thesis is to introduce the materials used in the construction of manufacturing machines. Properties of materials are described and also their advantages and disadvantages. The study also contains stress analysis of the components in Autodesk Inventor and selection the appropriate material for a tested component.
Cutting operation of cast iron
Nejedlý, Zdeněk ; Jaroš, Aleš (referee) ; Kalivoda, Milan (advisor)
Bachelor thesis deals with cutting operation of alloys of iron with high level of carbon – cast iron. First part of the thesis deals with properties of these materials. This part is focused on production, chemical composition and form of carbon, which are aspects that influence properties and machinability of cast iron. Differences in individual types are resumed in chapter, which deals with distribution of cast iron. Second part is devoted to machining. Machinability is evaluated for each group of cast iron and individual parts devotes to tool materials, wear of the tool edge and cutting surround.
Solution technology of two groove guide pulley production.
Šimonek, Ondřej ; Sedlák, Josef (referee) ; Kalivoda, Milan (advisor)
Technology deals with the production of the two - groove guide pulley for two types of semiproducts. Technological process of production solves the production of the guide pulley from the first gripping of semiproduct to handing over of the guide pulley to the warehouse. Semiproducts are two types of castings with different separating plane. The material of the guide pulley is always gray - cast iron ČSN 42 2420. Production method is cutting operation with CNC machines. The production uses tools with interchangeable cutting tips. The aim of this work is to find the most optimal method of production from both time and economic perspective and to compare the two variants.
Solution technology of two groove guide pulley production.
Pokladník, Robert ; Osička, Karel (referee) ; Kalivoda, Milan (advisor)
Technology compiling two groove pulley making for two types of billets. As a billets is used in both cases a cast iron EN-GJL-250. The technological process solves production of both variants from designing the billets to trans-mission to the storeroom. The production is realized through cutting operation by CNC machines. The tools are selected with cutting tip. Finaly both variants are compared from economical perspective.
